I went to both shows Friday & Sunday at the House of Blues in Hollywood. Soundwise Friday night was awesome. You could hear everyone in the band clearly and it was a great full sound. Sunday, maybe they had a different soundman because it was a very different sound. The bass drums or kick drums and the floor toms were so loud and had so much bass coming out that it completely drowned out Toshiya's bass guitar and Die's guitar. When the drums have more bass than the actual bass guitar , it turns the sound into "mush". I noticed they were trying to change Toshiya's bass sound on stage by switching amp heads but the problem was the drums. It's too bad because I know these guys have top notch equipment. It was if the soundman wasn't even there. If you saw them on both days you know what I mean. Dir En Grey performed great both days and I think Kyo is one of the best frontman singers I have ever seen. The audience was fantastic on both nights.
What a phenomenal concert. The energy was "thru the roof" !!!! In my 30+ years of concert going, I have never seen SO much NRG in one place. Dir En Grey will always be a benchmark in the milestones of concerts! They should've. could've charged a whole heck of a lot more
Yet another amazing show by Dir en Grey! Sunday's show was hands down the best performance they have done, to date. I'm still awestruck!~! Definitely can't wait till they come back to L.A. again! <3
This show was Fantastic! probably one of the best Dir shows I've been to, the band had amazing energy with a 'meet and greet' signing afterward with the entire band. I'm also in love with HoB as a venue, you get a good view of the stage no matter where you stand/sit (staff & Security were friendly and organized unlike the Wiltern where I had seen Dir at in previous years) I hope they come back again, I will be sure to catch their show epically if its in such a good venue again!
It was an amazing event. the band was perfect and the pits were fun in all it was really fun
This was my second time seeing them play and I was NOT disappointed! Seeing them live the first time in Tempe,AZ is what made me a die hard fan. Before that I didn't really like their music. They are so amazing live. The energy is crazy. If you like metal this is a band you should see live for sure! Akuro no oka was the best EVER! The violins weren't there but you could almost hear them if you knew the song. Then in the beginning of the song the lines are echoed by another vocal track of Kyo singing, but when they played it the audience was the echoed lyrics, they knew every word! It was amazing!
when going to a dir en grey concert, i always expect an amazing show and amazing music. but it seems like they really outdid themselves this time! two nights in LA and two vastly different set lists, along with their incredible showmanship and energy made for a great time. the only drawbacks being related to line management and the general set up of the venue, dir en grey nevertheless shined like bright diamonds in the sky painted a thick black. no matter the circumstances and venue, if you enjoy amazing music and performances and don't mind maybe getting a little roughed up, you have to go to a dir en grey live!!
The concert was great! Had it been a bit longer, that would have made it even better. But all in all i had a good time, my friend that I brought with me (who hadnt even heard of the band until two days prior) had a good time. Good job.
DEG is just incredible! The group is so "tight" that it does not matter that they are NOT "speaking/singing" in English! This Japanese band allows us to experience the perspective that audiences in other Countries have when they go to see INCUBUS, MCR, U2, the Adicts, Misfits, etc English language groups. GREAT and is GREAT whether or not you understand the words ! The emotion that every song is supposed to convey is delivered! Moshing; arms pumping above your head; shouting; jumping; surfing....
Frikin amazing! Kyo is so entertaining. Go see them
Awesome show! Lots of energy! I have seen them twice now and they have yet to disappoint!
The show was so awesome! Nothing can top them! the crowd was crazy and the fans were seriously die hard fans. It felt like a whole part of my missing family had finally all come together to see Dir en Grey. It was just so brilliant and amazing. Some of the songs I forgot the names of, and they did so many too!! I would go again for sure. And I would recommend that every JRock/Visual Kei fan to go!!! This show was just.. UGHH!!! I LOVED IT! i bet everyone there did too!
Incredible performance from a group that continues to push the limits. Endless energy and great entertainment.
It was an amazing event! I was in the front and had a great view of Kyo. The music was wonderful and the venue was as well.
I cannot tell you how insanely awesome Dir en grey's performance was last night!!!!! All I can really say is that anyone who enjoys outstanding music with an original style should go to a Dir en grey show or at least purchase their cds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD
The official best concert I have been to in my life!!! It was REDICULOUS! We were right up front!
The show was amazing! The merchandise should be more unique to Dir En Grey!
This was my first Dir en Grey concert and fourth concert overal, it has been the best event I've been to yet. You'd be so close to the band, their performance was phenomenal, unforgettable and has definitely topped off my year, nothing can compare. I've only heard this band for a whole year and their arguably one of the best rock bands, and rock entertainers today. THANK U DIR EN GREY!!!!
Honestly I came mainly for my bf but I thought the show went really well. They were "late" about 1 and a half hour. concert was suppose to start at 8pm but started at around 9:30pm. Anyways, maybe it's normal for bands to start late. Even though I wasn't a big fan, the atmosphere itself was very fun! My legs started getting tired cause I wasn't jumping up and down in the front but standing near the back with a drink. The vocalist amazed me with his wide variation of sounds that he can make. A lot of jumping up and down with high energy on the band's part which transferred onto the crowd. As an observer, I noticed 90% of people were having fun. The age group in the crowd varied from 16-25 I believe, most people seemed like high school kids. (But maybe I'm wrong) A lot of people dressed up in punk outfits so if you're going to a dir en grey concert, you should consider dressing up too.
