About

South African rave rap group Die Antwoord catapulted to overnight success when their edgy music video for 2010 single “Enter The Ninja” went viral. The video was perfect for viral success, looking like an punk art project, but it also had high-quality production, deft rapping and a highly danceable backing track. It's a mix that earned the band a growing cult following and propelled it to a pair of internationally acclaimed albums and concerts with sold out tickets around the world. On the 2013 European tour, the scene was somewhere between a hip-hop show, a rave and a gonzo comedy routine full of frenetic energy, intense dance music and lots of thrusting. On stage, Die Antwoord blasted through an hour and a half of music, including its latest, “Cookie Thumper!” The shows are a visual treat too, with the tattooed co-lead singer Ninja half-naked and wearing a mask fit for a horror movie villain and the other lead Yo-landi Vi$$er sporting bright pink hot pants and pitch-black contact lenses.

As the frontman for MaxNormal.TV and The Constructus Corporation, Ninja has been a member of the South African hip-hop scene for years, but he’s said that all of that was just preparation for the madness that is Die Antwoord. After the international viral success of “Enter The Ninja,” Die Antwoord decided to strike out on its own, independently releasing its 2011 sophomore album, "Ten$Ion," which debuted at No. 20 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Chart and spawned the popular single “Fatty Boom Boom.” In 2013, they followed that up with “Cookie Thumper!," the first single off a third album called "Donker Mag." Die Antwoord's unique style and dynamic energy will continue to please new and old fans alike.

Great show at a nice venue! Started off near the grass, but Die Antwoord was so fun we ended up in the third row by the end. Would definitely go see again!

Everything I could have hoped for

by AnnaPhipps86 on 8/22/17Uptown Theater - Kansas City

This was the last night of our honeymoon, having spent the rest of the week in Florida. Seeing Die Antwoord so close to home is something I never thought would happen! They rocked and they are so amazing live! I could see them 100 times more! Some of the crowd sucked, whiny girls up against the barricade that didn't even seem to want to be there were just taking up space, and being a short woman this was annoying. Some attendees seemed ignorant to open floor concert etiquette.. but no one was going to ruin our night

I think it's freaky, and I like it a lot!!!

by BigDaddyXXX on 8/21/17Uptown Theater - Kansas City

Wow, totally unreal, you could feel the music, the people were pumped, and Die Antwoord was electric!!! I would definitely love to see them again. I wish they would of used the CO2 blast through out the show, they felt soooo good, cooling the crowd down. It was an hour and a half cardio work out, Ninja did so many crowd dives it was fantastic, and Yolandi is a real crowd pleaser. Together they put on one hell of a show!!!

    Die Anwoord kicked ass!

by KillerSeaOtter on 8/21/17Uptown Theater - Kansas City

So the dj they got to play before they went on was terrible her name was Lil 2 hood she dumped her laptop at one point in her set and the music went out and then she played songs almost in there entirety she really didn't do anything special. Die Antwoord rocked it hard once they went on they blew the crowd away. Yo landi and Ninja kick so much ass it was awesome. They did all there great songs and Ninja even sung acapella. It was a fantastic show.

Die Antwoord was totally entertaining! 5star

by Clooney808 on 8/21/17Uptown Theater - Kansas City

Die Antwoord put on an amazingly entertaining show! The opening act was just that -something to pass the time and get the crowd warmed up. But then the bass came out and the lights went nuts...Die Antwoord killed it. I would definitely see them again!

Lots of fun, but too short

by Billtheotherone on 8/21/17Uptown Theater - Kansas City

Had a great time but this was the shortest concert I have ever seen. Started late, ended early. Luckily the tickets were cheap.

    DIE ANTWOORD BROUGHT THE MAGIC

by LucyFerr on 8/20/17EXPRESS LIVE! - Columbus

This was hands down THE best concert I or my friend have ever been too. We arrived a little late and was met at the gate by other little beautiful freeks all looking to rave the night away and forget our problems. Even though the gates opened at 7:30, we knew with Yo-Landi being albino that the show wouldn't start until night fall. They finally graced the stage with their unique sounds and faces around 9 and did not produce a dull moment until ti finally ended at 10:30. They not only sang all the favorites but also opened with the new album and had visuals to go with it.. I dare to say I left that night feeling inspired and ready to be the true me whatever outfit or crazy haircut that may be.. Their daughter 16 was brought out for one part and I not only made it ot the middle of the stage but also got to touch and hold Ninja as he crowd surfed during the finale and let off GIANT confetti bombs that made seeing a inch in front of you impossible. It was a night I'll never forget and am so glad I got to see them on their final tour. I FINK THEIR FREEKY AND I LIKE THEM ALOT. Thank you, Ticketmaster and thank you Die Antwoord. You slayed my life.

    Great show

by Redridergk on 8/20/17The Pageant - St Louis

Show was great once it got started. There was way too long of a time gap in between the opener and Die Antwoord. When your crammed into an overcrowded pit area literally shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of sweaty super sweaty people it can really bum you out. The show itself was great, not as good as the last time iv saw them, this show felt lazy and rushed in comparison

This was the best show I have seen in a very long time. Super fun. An amazing presence. But I have to admit, St Louis and Die Antwoord attract a really smelly crowd. Take a bath, Y'all!!!

High energy and tons of fun

by Rnfloyd on 8/20/17The Pageant - St Louis

Went with a friend and we had the greatest time!!! We got the best seats in the house by pure luck in my opinion (against the stage to the far left side) and were within reaching distance of both Ninja and Yolandi several times. The opening act was a little slow, but they came on afterwards and pumped up the whole house. Forewarning to those going to future shows, only stand front and center if you are willing to have ninja jump on you a LOT lol ;D

The set was preformed well. Each artist were enthusiastic and focused. Even my eleven year old was impressed and engaged. I was thoroughly impressed with the overall quality of the set design and performance.

    Best night of my life!

by ZefQueen on 8/20/17The Pageant - St Louis

I just saw them for the second time on Thursday night, and I was beyond ecstatic yet again. They were even better this second time. They do every single song that I love, Ninja took time out to talk to us, Yolandi took time out to talk to us, and I even got to touch both of their hands. Just absolutely amazing. Some people say that their show is too short, but it is high energy the entire time. They never take any breaks and it never gets boring or have intermissions, which I love. Anytime they come within 5 hours of me I'll be there. They never disappoint.

    Fun!

by Lamcil on 8/19/17EXPRESS LIVE! - Columbus

For being my second concert that I've been too, I had a ton of fun. The music was great and the energy was very high. My only complaint was the wait time. The doors opened at 7, but the actual music didn't start until nearly 9:30. The opener got better with each song she played, but after she finished, there was another really long wait. Other than that, it was definitely worth it.
