About

Beloved British singer-songwriter Dido continues to enchant fans around the world with her soothing vocals and inspiring collection of pop hits. Her soft voice and humble stage presence belie her status as one of Britain's most successful female artists of all time, and her unassuming demeanor is the perfect complement to sensitive tracks like "Thank You" and "White Flag". A gifted performer who's shared the stage with artists as wide-ranging as Eminem and Santana, Dido always brings the house down with her thoughtful songs and passionate delivery on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Dido was born Dido Florian de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong in London on Christmas day 1971. She was interested in music from an early age, and after stealing a recorder from school at age five her parents enrolled her in a music program. After learning the piano and violin she began to record demos with her producer brother Rollo, and before long she had landed a deal with Arista Records. She made her album debut in 1999 with No Angel, an international sensation that topped the charts in five countries and launched her to superstardom with hit singles like "Here with Me" and "Thank You". Her 2003 sophomore album Life for Rent was another success, topping charts around the world and going on to sell more than 13 million copies. After releasing her Grammy-nominated third album Safe Trip Home, Dido took a hiatus from the spotlight. She returned in 2013 with her fourth album Girl Who Got Away, a critical and commercial success that she supported with another acclaimed world tour.

Dido is still a shining star!

by TimInEB on 6/29/19The Masonic - San Francisco

Honestly, I’d kind of forgotten just how powerful a stage performer Dido is. It’s been 15 years since her last tour, and she hasn’t changed, except to provide an even more polished experience. She’s found a way to make the songs off her newest album seem like old favorites, and they fit in beautifully alongside her past hits. Her live band is top-notch, and she’s retained Jodi, the percussionist, from back in the day. The bombastic crescendo that some of Dido’s songs reach in concert is enough to raise the hairs on your neck. LOVE THIS LADY! If you ever get a chance to see her perform, do not miss it for the world!

Great show in a comfortable venue

by Uncle Mike on 6/29/19The Masonic - San Francisco

The show's warm up act (Jack Savoretti) was a pleasant surprise. His set featured new songs from his current album, a nice intro to his music. After the break Dido swept in with her newest hit "Hurricanes". The set of about 20 songs featured a nice mix of new and old. Her voice is majestic and came through clearly on most songs. I was in the balcony so I was in direct line with the speakers. Some of the arrangements were so loud that her voice was lost a little, but never for long and not too often. Her stage presence was affable and warm. Her bandmates were excellent. Definitely glad I was able to attend this show, since she doesn't tour a lot.

    Dido Show @ the Masonic

by Gabi on 6/29/19The Masonic - San Francisco

We entered and went straight to the bar. The bartender was an outgoing, fun fellow who made light conversation and made a great rum & coke. Then we were lead to our seats on the floor by a friendly woman. Dido was fabulous and the Masonic is a great place to see a show. Plenty of good restaurants to go to prior in walking distance & it’s just a great neighborhood. The sound and intimate feeling at the Masonic is fabulous! Go see a show there. You’ll have a blast. Dido was just great!

Dull, low energy, hashed out performance

by Bored to tears on 6/29/19The Masonic - San Francisco

Dido doesn't have much of a stage presence. The show was reminiscent of 80s bands touring and performing their greatest hits--with singing along to your favorite songs being the highlight of the evening. She didn't make an effort to remix any of her old hits into an acoustic version or something special. Only a handful of tunes got the audience out of their seats. Like I said. Boring. Many people walked out before the end of the performance and when she left the stage many of us, including ourselves, didn't bother to see if there was an encore.

Dido was excellent! I always wanted to see her because I knew it would be beautiful but she exceeded all expectations!! Absolutely beautiful. Her voice is magical. The sound of the music was amazing! The girl on the drums was beyond amazing. I could keep going but all I can say it was one of my top 2 best concerts I've been to. Definitely would go see her again. The venue was beautiful, cozy and the view was perfect. Very happy!!!

Dido was great and the wilterm sounded good...first time I have seen a show there and was happy with the mix... Drinks are still way over priced...have drinks at diner before hand...$17 for a single shot drink is just ridiculous...

Highlighted by great vocals, both by Dido and by Savoretti. Both told contextual stories about the songs, which enriched the experience. Special night. Fabulous singing voices.

If you’re not 6ft don’t purchase GA at Wiltern

by j. on 6/28/19The Wiltern - Los Angeles

Couldn’t see anything. I’m 5’10 and got there 10min after the doors opened but didn’t matter because the Wiltern’s stage is only slightly higher than the floor so if you’re under 6ft and have an extra 2 hours to wait outside you’ll be fine otherwise bring your stilts. We left early since I’d rather listen to the album versus being smashed between two sweaty backs staring at the back of people’s heads. Pass.

    Epic

by CopaCabana on 6/28/19The Wiltern - Los Angeles

Everything about the Wiltern experience was fabulous. The venue is small and personal, Dido by far was the most casual, fun, nostalgic concert I’ve been to in years! She truly is an artist and everyone there was in love.

    AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

by r. roll on 6/28/19The Wiltern - Los Angeles

Dido's concert in L.A was the best concert I've ever been to; and I've been to a lot. She was amazing and the way she interacted with the crowd was awesome. I may have to look into seeing her again in Europe before her tour ends. I waited 15-17 years for this and it DID NOT let me down. Thank you Dido for the great experience. RR Los Angeles

    Amazing Show

by Music Fan on 6/28/19The Wiltern - Los Angeles

The opening act Jack Savoretti did not disappoint. His music and songs were heart felt and beautiful. Dido was incredible. It’s wonderful to hear her talk and when she sings it penetrates your soul. The acoustics at The Wiltern are amazing. This was truly a great experience.
