The lines were long but the exhibit was well done. Audio tour notices were not well placed and thus we missed some of them. Not necessarily worth the $5.00 as did not feel it gave a great deal of additional information.
The exhibit covered more about Diana's background than I expected. The bridal growns on loan from the Kansas City museum were a nice "opening act" for the exhibit. I was impressed with the Spencer family historical jewelry, even though it was not modern day quality, it was amazing to see. I never realized how simple the wedding dress was -- just lots and lots of fabric. I was completely overcome in the room where the funeral was displayed. Even after all these years, the sadness is still so heavy. I loved seeing Diana's clothes along with the pictures of her in the outfit on display. She wore the clothes much better than the mannequins.
The only thing I could find wrong with this display was the long wait in line - having back trouble it didn't make my venture too easy. Also - people with young children - this is not the place to take them -- too much reading -- too little light --- otherwise the jewelry was beautiful and the dresses were gorgeous.
I was in awe of everything. So glad I got to see the exhibit. I wanted to take everything home.
While I thought the display was nice and very well done, I was VERY disappointed that for my kids there was nothing there in the gift shop. I know it is petty, but truly the "People's Princess" would have wanted something for children at her display. Something even as simple as a photo book of the displays at the Exhibit would have been appreciated, since there was no photography allowed. That would have gone farther to help in Diana's charities than just the ticket price did.
We really enjoyed this entire display of her life.
Diana was so much more tha the wife of Prince Charles! This Celebration of her lfe gives one the insight of where her heart is and that is with people all over the world. It was fun to see videos of her childhood and to realize that she enjoyed the same things other children enjoy....swimming....playing with siblings....etc. The exhibit is very well done and well worth one's time to see it. Viewing the volumesof condolences received upon her untimely death makes one realize how much she was loved. Thanks to the Spencer family for sharing so much of Diana's life with all of us. And thanks to Union Station for bringing it to Kansas City.
The Diana Exhibit was terrific. Very well done & very moving. There was a wide variety of items on display. I would definitely recommend this to a friend!
What a wonderful tribute to a most amazing woman. It was just so interesting and presented in such a way that you could take your time and really absorb everything.
Awesome experience. Loved that everything was "real" and not a replica. THE dress is amazing--as were the other 26 gowns. Wish that had had more on her life with the boys, but understand the reason--to preserve their privacy. Gift shop was fairly expensive, but had good things. Great to have her "back" for a little while. Sad you couldn't take pictures.
I am glad to have had the opportunity of seeing the wedding dress and the film of the wedding, other clothes she wore, family pictures and videos and learning more about her.
First of all keep in mind that the ticket time just means that is what time the exhibit opens and you can go anytime throughout the day. That was a bit misleading. The exhibits were very well done and I would say my group of 3 ladies felt the "beauty and goodness" of Diana throughout. Her death is obviously a very moving piece to the exhibit but the exhibit is ordered so you do not end on that note. I appreciated that. Make sure to read the quotes on the walls throughout. For an extra $5 you get the audiotour which was nice and gave an interview from the wedding dress designer.
Stunning collection of designer gowns. Extremely well presented. Well worth a visit. The Spencer jewels are exquisite.
After attending this in Philadelphia last spring, I was confused as to why the event at Union Station put Diana's funeral display immediately after the display of her wedding gown. it should have followed a chronological order.
My mother and daughter-in-law and I all enjoyed the Diana exhbit. They had displays from all her ages, and we learned many things we didn't know about her. As a former bridal designer and custom dressmaker, I really enjoyed the CLOTHES!
I've always loved Princess Di....it was heart breaking when she died, it was as if a family member had past. She was definitely the People Princess. Questioned the "schedule times" to view the exhibit. Felt crowded most of the time. If it is going to be a scheduled viewing; would recommend limiting the number of people to pass through during that 1 hour...for the money I would've rather had not so many distractions. Wish there would've been some sort of video or something at the end that tied everything together...to summarize what you just went through and to give a farewell the viewer and a last personal connection to the princess. Regardless, I'm glad that I was able to view it. She will be terribly missed.
Beautiful, emotional, unforgettable. We are fortunate to get the exhibit in KC.
The items the family has chosen to share with us are worth seeing. I recommend doing the audio tour as hearing her story told by her brother adds that a special intimacy to the story of her life. The only thing I found odd was the displays and the audio tour were not in order and it took away from the audio presentation. Sadly no photos are allowed but it is unforgettable.
The exhibition was a moving tribute to an amazing lady. The tribute room moved me to tears.
