About

DEVON ALLMAN IN CONCERT:

Devon Allman boasts an impressive musical pedigree -- his father and uncle are none other than Gregg and Duane Allman of the legendary Allman Brothers. Staying true to the family tradition, Devon has carved out his own niche in the music world with a distinct brand of classic blues sharpened with a modern rock edge. In concert he performs an eclectic mix of solo material, classic rock covers, and songs from his former band Honeytribe, nailing everything he takes on with a soulful voice that's a dead ringer for his dad's and a trusty Gibson Les Paul he calls his "Number One". As he takes the stage to perform favorites like "Midnight Lake Michigan" and newer cuts from 2014's Ragged & Dirty, it's easy to see why Allman has earned a reputation as one of genre's most entertaining performers.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Devon Allman was born in Corpus Christi, TX, and was raised by his mother in Texas, Tennessee, and Missouri. He started playing the guitar at a young age but it wasn't until his teens when he got close with his father -- Gregg Allman of the Allman Brothers Ban -- that he decided to take music seriously. For several years the younger Allman performed around St. Louis's vibrant club scene and in 1999 he formed the blues rock collective Honeytribe. The group toured extensively -- playing up to 300 shows a year -- and released one album as a six-piece, 2006's Torch, and another as a trio, 2010's Space Age Blues. In 2011 Allman co-founded the band Royal Southern Brotherhood, which released a self-titled album in 2012 and toured around the world. In 2013 Allman released his debut solo album Turquoise, and in 2014 he released his sophomore record Ragged & Dirty to critical acclaim.

  • The Allman Legacy Lives!

Devon and Duane exceeded my expectations for sure but what would you expect from Allmans and Betts! They warmed up the crowd with their own great tunes and then dig into the some Allman classics from Seventies before finishing with intense version of Purple Rain! Go see them if you have the chance!

This show was absolutely amazing. Allman and Betts played their music beautiful and both stand out as great artists and musicians in their own right. The Allman Brothers Band songs were just an added bonus.

Great music at a small intimate venue. Southern rock and blues are alive and well with Devon and Duane

  • Unapologetic & Surprising Mastery of Southern Rock

by WaddyF on 4/21/18The Wilbur - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Duane Betts can write, and sing, a great song. Devan Allman is a force totally ready for stardom. Whoever did the lighting was inept at best.

  • Allman and Betts were Great!

by HowardMi on 4/21/18The Wilbur - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Both bands were Great! Good selection of songs and a couple of good cover songs as well: Sweet Virginia and Friend of the Devil. Hung out with "Cat" for a lot of the show right up front and had fun. We should go to another show together?? Talked with both bands after the show too!

  • Duane lives up to his namesake!!

by Karinskis on 4/21/18The Wilbur - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Did you ever go to a concert when Stevie Ray was the opening act? Exactly - GO SEE HIM. Devon seems to be going in a different direction (than I was expecting) and sometimes less is more, but the tour is just starting so ...

  • Devon Allman/ Duane Betts

    by Surfdog1 on 4/21/18The Wilbur - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Great show, fantastic rising talent. Both are gracious and understand there roots. Duane is searching for his own sound through the shadow, Devon Allman has the heart of his dad with the soul of his uncle. All Allman brothers fans young and old owes to see and support these great musicians. They are in development and there raw talent is on the rise. My advice as a musician. " Reach out to the young crowd" Your music can stand its own. Older people bring your 30 year old kids. Your kids know there music growing up. You will have a memory to pass along. Great concert cant wait to see you in Boston again. How about The Narrows in Fall River Mass? BT Surfdog!!!!

  • Pretty good Show

by TJmusicman on 4/21/18The Wilbur - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

I thought the show was pretty good... trying to find their own identity & honestly I think Betts has a pretty cool style & future. Allman part of the show a little more put together...real good ban supporting him.

Go out and support Devon and Duane on their world tour. They play their own music and add a few Allman Brothers favorites in the mix. A fun and entertaining show. The apple didn't fall far from the tree. Wonderful talent here and you all will love them!
