    Devendra Banhart was awesome!

    by DebbB1 on 6/23/13Sixth & I Historic Synagogue - Washington

The Banhart show was thoroughly enjoyable and the setting at Sixth and I added to the performance. I am in my 50s but my college age kids introduced me to Devendra a few years ago and now I am a big fan. After the show, I immediately went to his website to see where else he was playing. Hope he returns to Sixth & I soon!

All good things come to an end. But not so fast!!!

by Siberianmafia on 6/19/13Town Hall - New York

Second time I saw Devendra performing. As always very energetic and entertaining! What can I say, he is a big talent!!! He played lots of song from his new album. Also, he interacted with the audience which I liked very much. BUT here is one thing that left me disappointed and I noticed that other people mentioned it also. The concert was way too short. First of all, songs on Mala are very short by themselves, but it does not mean that 75 minutes are enough. I left concert dazed by DB's performance and overall amazing atmosphere and confused by the fact how short concert was. Next time I will go to his concert anyway because I really like what he does, but I expect more songs!

    So so show

by JCBrando on 6/17/13Town Hall - New York

The Davendra concert was a so so show for my taste (not everybody's) because he played too many acoustic songs. Besides that (and this I found strange), his set was short, like 75 minutes in total, including the encore songs. Sorry, but a concert should be, at least 90 minutes. Come on, man.

Devendra Banhart and Band- Energetic and beautiful

by Junglee on 6/14/13Town Hall - New York

The concert was great. The opening act was a good mood setter for the main concert. The venue, a classic, the super energetic audience and most importantly the beautiful creative music provided for an extremely satisfying event!!

    He's a funny guy!

I loved the concert, very eccentric, fun and laid back group of musicians. The music was great, DB was awesome! I laughed and really enjoyed them!

Annoyed by the ladies who sat everyone down-- they work off tip but honestly did a horrible job. The show was probably one of the best ones I've ever seen. Devendra Banhart stole my heart. He is a performer and a unique character. Everyone should see him!

    Superb musicians; bad acoustics

by Cityzen on 6/10/13Sixth & I Historic Synagogue - Washington

This is the 2nd time I've seen Devendra perform, and he was even better than 3 years ago. He and his band were "on" - and they were firmly in sync. The energy and camaraderie between them improved their performance. I'm a big DB fan and I enjoyed hearing him perform songs from his multiple albums, not just the latest one. The biggest crowd pleaser was "Sea Horse", during which DB + band rocked it! The opening act, Rodrigo Amarante, was quite good and is also part of Devendra's band. I look forward to purchasing one of his albums. My biggest criticism was the acoustics at the Synagogue. While the venue is beautiful and very comfortable, there was constant reverb at the middle notes, just where most of the lyrics are sung. As a result, it was hard to hear DB sing a number of his songs. It seems that there's an echo problem in the synagogue, particularly caused by the electric guitar.

    Amazing show was too short!

by Anonymous on 6/10/13Sixth & I Historic Synagogue - Washington

Great show!! Sixth & I is a beautiful venue but it has poor sight lines. I'm short and folks gathered standing around the front of the stage so I ended up relocating to the rear of the sanctuary to dance. I was bummed that the ticket cost over $30 and Devendra Banhart only played for about an hour and fifteen minutes (including the time taken as a breather before the encore). Another plus about the venue is that alcohol is now permitted in the sanctuary! Last year there was no drinking allowed in the sanctuary which meant guzzling drinks in the basement before going upstairs to see the show.

    Amazing atmosphere!

by Judyyyy on 6/10/13Sixth & I Historic Synagogue - Washington

The venue was quite different from others I've been in the past. The synagogue is a lovely place and the sound was great. Roberto Amarante opened for Devendra along with his band which included Fabrizio Moretti (The Strokes) as the drummer. When Devendra came out the crowd got really excited and we all stood up from our seats to have a better view of him. The songs he played were splendid and everything was great! The venue offers refreshments of all sorts (sodas, beers, wine). Overall, my experience was delightful and I'm dying to see Devendra again!!!

    Still strange, still superb

by Conordennywho on 6/10/13Sixth & I Historic Synagogue - Washington

I have always been a fan of Devendra Banhart's odd nature and sounds that he incorporates in his music. His performance at Sixth & I synagogue this Saturday was even better than he sounds on record. He and his multitalented band both rocked hard and swayed softly, playing all of his hits and many of the songs off of his new album, Mala. The show was so incredible and the crowd so excited that they came on for a double encore at the end of the night. Also worth noting was the act before Devendra, whose name I didn't quite catch but he had ballads that moved me nearly to tears whilst sitting in the pews of the beautiful venue. This was truly a night to remember.

    Great show (awful venue)

Devendra Banhart offered an amazing show. Intimate and solid. The venue is not the best for a concert, very uncomfortable

    Hypnotic!

by Juley on 6/10/13Sixth & I Historic Synagogue - Washington

This was one of the best shows we've ever seen! I've always loved the diverse sounds of Devendra Banhart but seeing him & the Grogs live really blew us away. This is a truly talented group of musicians, perfectly in sync w/one another.
