    Meh

by Brayan M. on 6/21/23Hall des Lumières - New York

Like most have said, it's a movie on a projector that is shown all over the room. It was like 45 minutes of footage. Imagery and visuals were nice. You could get more immersed in the basement. Had more room and bean bags. The gift shop was ok, unless you love art. Overall, it's a good time if you want to look at our solar system, but you'll be bored after a few minutes.

    Waste of money

by Grandma on 6/8/23Hall des Lumières - New York

Went with 2 grandchildren, ages 7 and 9. Had to do a lot of explaining during the movie as very little provided on screen. This was a movie only. Grandchildren were expecting some exhibits as well. Even they were disappointed. Seating was next to none.

    Awashed in Space

by Jay on 6/6/23Hall des Lumières - New York

I liked the immersive floor the best, but the whole thing was exactly what I expected and wanted. There was one rock song that was a little jarring in the first 15 minutes, but after it ended, the soundtrack fit much better. I really liked seeing the equipment used to record the images and information. I learned more than I thought I would.

    An amazing and wonderful experience!

by Michelle on 6/5/23Hall des Lumières - New York

I loved this! The venue was spectacular and how the space odyssey was projected on all the walls and the floor, so you almost felt like you were out in space was epic! Please have more NASA / space and exploration shows!

Excellent photography and projection. Could be a bit longer.

    Okay

by EverSpring on 6/1/23Hall des Lumières - New York

It was basically just a movie projected on the walls of the space. No exhibits or interactive elements. Price needs to be at least half of what it was.

    Meh

by Mimz314 on 5/30/23Hall des Lumières - New York

Imagery was excellent but explanation was lacking. Couldn’t see the bottom of the screen where some explanation was printed. Would benefit from narration so we could understand what we were looking at. Would also benefit from more seating since people stood in front of us and blocked the screen.

decent, but should've been much better

by Steve on 5/29/23Hall des Lumières - New York

The presentation hall was great, both audio and video. But the program itself needs a lot of work. It needed more labels on the images to let the audience know what they're looking at. And it missed a lot of great opportunities: no New Horizons images from Pluto, no photos from probes that have landed/impacted on comets, nothing from Huygens descent to Titan... The edit of the skycrane landing on Mars should've been much better

    NASA propaganda

by Digital Art Lover on 5/28/23Hall des Lumières - New York

My wife and I are big fans of immersive digital art spaces. We LOVED Atelier des Lumieres in Paris, and enjoyed the Klimt exhibit enough to come back and try Destination Cosmos. This was one of the worst immersive art experience we ever had! The entire exhibit felt like NASA-funded propaganda, trying to create renewed enthusiasm for the space program. At one point we were just laughing at it, and said it was funded by Space Force 😂 When you name something Destination Cosmos, there’s an expectation of seeing a lot of stars and universe-related things, but what we got instead was a lot of NASA machinery, construction, and astronauts. And the soundtrack was pretty basic and ridiculous, too. NOT WHAT WE PAID TO SEE. We truly hope they go back to having actual artists create their exhibits.

    Just okay

by JT on 5/24/23Hall des Lumières - New York

We were really excited about this but we weren't prepared for the experience. We thought it was a walk through with different themed rooms but it was essentially a short movie that you watched perched in a large room (beautiful visuals). What was the most frustrating was that it turned into a playground, with a million children running around and yelling. We could not find a room that was quiet to enjoy the show. We ended up leaving before the end of the show. They should consider having children-friend or adult-only viewings.

    Ehhh

by Yari on 5/23/23Hall des Lumières - New York

Was expecting so much more. A few rooms playing the same visuals, not as interactive as I would’ve hoped. Selfie room is just a Photo Booth you have to pay for.

    A bit underwhelming

by Rob on 5/20/23Hall des Lumières - New York

As someone very interested in the space program, and having actually designed satellites for much of my career, I found the exhibit somewhat underwhelming. First, I don’t think having the images projected all over the room added much beyond what was on the larger screen. In fact, it was somewhat distracting to me. And the fact that the auxiliary rooms use much of the same imagery instead of new content was disappointing. Regarding the content… I was often surprised at the choices made regarding what was shown versus what was not shown. I did not see one image of the space shuttle for example, the workhorse of the US space program for decades. Why? The Mars portion was also underwhelming because I know there are amazing images and videos from rovers, which were not presented. They are in fact, 3-D fly overs of Mars showing details of the terrain, which you can watch on YouTube, which were not even included. Why? Anyway, the exhibit might be more impressive to those not involved in space, and also to children.

    meh

by JMBNYC on 5/3/23Hall des Lumières - New York

For the price, we were really expecting something special. Instead, it's like watching a cool screensaver being projected, and that's about it. The visuals had little to no flow or storytelling. The music or audio clips could have been executed a lot better. The whole show was less than 45 minutes long. They didn't use the ceiling of this beautiful hall... for a show about space. The space was beautiful and interesting, but the show was lackluster.

A must see for all star gazers! Interesting and informative! Thank you to the Hall des Lumieres for picking the venue. It is a beautiful building and it’s wonderful that it is being used as art exhibition venue.

    Walk around!!

by CB on 5/2/23Hall des Lumières - New York

The experience was great!! We started by sitting in the main projection area and later decided to walk around the other areas of the building - all of which had the projections as well. That intensified the experience and brought it to the “immersive” level for me viewing while on the move

    Absolutely speechless!

by MJ on 5/2/23Hall des Lumières - New York

It was so easy to book our tickets and when we got there there was a very nice gentleman who helped us scan our mobile tickets and gave us a map to guide us. The show was overall amazing and spectacular. Would definitely come back!
