Deftones on Tour
Deftones have long had a reputation for being a commanding live act. Vocalist Chino Moreno is an active, energetic frontman who runs and jumps around the stage as he sings, when he's not shredding on his guitar. The rest of the band churn out heavy grooves indebted to post-hardcore and alternative metal as well as modern rock–leaning faves such as The Cure (a band Moreno loves).
During their career, Deftones have gone on numerous high-profile tours, including the 2010 Blackdiamondskye trek with Mastodon and Alice in Chains, and a 2018 South American tour with post-hardcore icons Quicksand. (The latter's Sergio Vega also plays bass for Deftones.) They've performed on Warped Tour, Taste of Chaos, the Family Values Tour and Ozzfest, and appeared at major gatherings such as Lollapalooza, Pinkpop Festival, Roskilde Festival and the Soundwave Festival.
Deftones in Concert
Deftones' roots stem from the friendship of three friends: Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter and Abe Cunningham, all of whom grew up in Sacramento, California, as skateboarding and music fanatics. The trio started jamming together in the late '80s alongside other musicians, including the late bassist Chi Cheng. After honing their sound with live gigs, Deftones ended up signing a major record deal in 1994 with Madonna's Maverick Records and released their debut album, Adrenaline, the following year.
The group followed this up with 1997's Around the Fur, which cemented Deftones as a part of the burgeoning nu-metal movement. Then, starting with 2000's critically acclaimed White Pony, the band became known for boundary-stretching metal that drew on atmospheric textures and heavy riffs. White Pony spawned the alternative hit "Change (In the House of Flies)" and the song "Elite," the latter winning the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. Other notable songs followed, including "Minerva" (from 2003's self-titled album) and the title track of 2010's Diamond Eyes. Deftones continue to be a formidable touring and recording machine, and released Gore in 2016.
loved it! saw them last time they were here and i twas just as awesome. i love how they're so humble and for the fans, they play entire shows, do encores, interact with the crow, sick ass stage presence (by chino), and they remix the songs perfectly for the audiences ears only!! love these guys, true rock n roll stars that do it all for the fans!!!!
This was the 4th time seeing Deftones live and this was probably the best show yet!! The crowd was into it and the band fed off their energy!!!
I usually am not a fan of hearing a song for the first time at a show but I LOVED hearing about 6 new songs that they played. The songs were THAT good! I've seen Deftones too many times to count and will see them any chance I get. Hands down, my FAVORITE GROUP TO SEE LIVE! If you haven't yet, you're missing out. GET WELL SOON CHI!!!!
deftones put on an amazing show, it was my first time seeing them live and i was blown away.... concrete street was a perfect place to see them!
The show started on time, the performance was amazing , the sound was great , the venue was awesome .
Chino sounded way better than I thought he would live. Everything was incredibly smooth and he put on a badass show. I was in awe the whole time...what I would have done to touch his hand. :)
I absolutely love the deftones!!! They put on a great show, and there was so many ppl but it was totally worth it. We were right up front so we could see everything, the weather was nice and windy to keep some circulation going through the mass of people. People of all ages where there, unforgettable night!!!
It was amazing to see them it was GREAT had lots of fun!!!!
Crowd was wild........there was a pit everywhere you were standing........music and ambiance match perfectly.
Deftones showing they still have the energy and flow from when they first started. Can't wait for when they tour with the new cd coming out
as a long time deftones fan who has seen the band live 10+ times now, i can honestly say this one of the best performances i have seen them give. they sounded amazingly good. the setlist was great too, lots of the new album of course, but the rest was a really good mix of their radio tunes and the old jams that get the crowd all hyped. i had so much fun at this show, worth every penny. the only bad thing was that this venue, which is actually really cool, had some sound issues because of the strong winds. other than that this was probably one of the best shows i've been to in the past couple of years. bottom line: if you are deftones fan do NOT miss this tour.
I HAVE SEEN THESE GUYS 5 TIMES!! THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN CORPUS...THIS WAS THE BEST SHOW I HAVE SEEN!!!

Best concert i have seen in a long time. The Deftones had to of played for almost two hours. they played so many songs and were full of energy the entire time and the crowd was just as energetic. near my top 5 of best shows i have been to. right under manson
The show was beyond anything I expected it was amazing I will definately see them again without a doubt!!!
This show, while lacking in quality opening bands, was truly a great show for a longtime fan. Set list of old and new, covering all bases, and still sounding every bit as good as the first time i saw them nearly a decade ago! Awesome!
I hadn't seen Deftones since Ozzfest '99, and they were great then and even better today!
DEFTONES!!! First time in Corpus. Loved the wind off the ocean. It's pretty nice when you're breathing the same cubic foot or air with about 9 people.
This was the best show I've seen in a while. Of course the Deftones always put on a great show. Missed our brother, Chi, but he was there in spirit. The venue is a great place to see shows. I traveled from Austin to see this show and will do it again to see one of my faves play there.
a great show put on by a great band. played for almost 2 hours while playing 5 new songs from their new albume. cant wait to see them back on tour and hopefully in san antonio next time. we miss you chi.
