    Awesome Show

by NiNoMarie on 7/23/12Paradise - Boston

I have to admit, I'm a little biased because they're from my home town and I know the band. With that being said, I wouldn't bother listening to them if I didn't love them. They are fantastic musicians and they put on a great show. Each member has crazy stage presence. The members are old friends and the chemistry between them on stage is phenomenal. The shows always have surprises, like special guests, silly string, and cake. These boys know how to party. They did 2 great covers, as well as a long list of their own hits and B-sides. The show was looong, which is great because most bands only play for an hour and totally skimp on substance. I had to walk to a friend's house because I missed the train...but it was sooo worth it.

    kick@$$

by Flanintheface on 6/20/12Paradise Rock Club - Boston

4th time seeing the tick on this tour and they were awesome as usual, Turbo Fruits also really brought it. I hadn't been to the paradise since I saw Built to spill play there (probably back in 2002ish?) and it seemed a lot more open from what I remember but definitely a great venue for a show. Deer Tick is one of the best bands you can see live. If they are playing anywhere remotely close to you it would be a travesty not to get tickets.

    Deer Tick kicks it!

by 909ari on 6/18/12Paradise Rock Club - Boston

Truly awesome two and a half hour set. "Dirty Dishes" a capella was a high-light, and the crowd went ballistic at the end....

Deer Tick totally rocked! But the opening band SUCKED. How they ever made it to opening for an amazing band is beyond me. It was painful to listen to them.

    Deer Tick ROCKS!!!

by BrendanGreytBoy on 6/12/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

I've been an avid fan of Deer Tick for almost two years. I never miss an opportunity to see them, unless I'm compromised in some way. When I learned that Deer Tick was playing the El Rey, I almost fainted. We flew from Boston to L.A., basically just to see Deer Tick. Why? First of all, the band never disappoints. Second of all, every performance is unique. John McCauley is an amazing singer and song-writer. As a consummate musician, he covers many other songs at Deer Tick concerts as well. Adam Yauch had just passed away when we were flying to L.A. What do you suppose Deer Tick covered that night? BEASTIE BOYS, in honor of Adam Yauch. (tears) It was an unforgettable tribute. I absolutely love John McCauley. And I can't wait to see his side project, Diamond Rugs, perform in NYC.

    Disappointing

by JMK1124 on 6/12/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

Really looked forward to this show! Have their cd's and Middle Brother's as well. So good in studio-so mediocre live. Band not tight, lead singer John McCauley pretty focused on the party boy I'm so drunk but still standing (and singing-I guess) vibe. Maybe I'm too old for the frat party vibe. (Though I'm sure that would be insulting to the band's NE grunge sensibilities.) I'll stick to Delta Spirit live.

    Deer Tiznick

by Akerbomber on 6/11/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

Except for some douchy fans, an amazing and dynamic band. Little new tunes heavy, but can't blame em they're just havin a good time. McCauley was surprisingly coherent and on point.

Deer Tick channeling Warren Zevon. John's solo segment was amazing. They never cease to amaze and inspire.

Deer Tick at the Stone Pony

by Lawjcary on 4/23/12The Stone Pony - Asbury Park

Deer Tick always rocks the house. I had always wanted to go to the Stone Pony so this was an ideal reason to make the trip from Providence. Deer Tick always puts on a great show and the audience is really into the show. I have seen Deer Tick perform in several different Rhode Island venues and they never dissapoint but seeing them in Bruce's house was an amazing experience. If you haven't seen Deer Tick live yet, what are you waiting for?

    Great set

by F2FLifer on 4/23/12The Stone Pony - Asbury Park

These guys are legit. You know a band is the real deal when you go to a show, knowing most of their music, then they play a bunch of songs that you've never heard, BUT THOSE SONGS ARE SICK TOO! They felt like a throwback to the days of dirtbag rock and roll.

Felice Brothers: "what Dylan should have sounded like when he went electric". I like all of their stuff except for the new album, though I must say the songs off of Celebration sound much better live. My new favorite band over the past couple of years. saw them the following night in Burlington. Good show, but could have played a few more songs... Deer Tick: Seems like the worst name for a band ever, except if really fits them. NRBQ meets the Ramones mixed with a little Janes addiction. These guys really rock! great show! I would recommend seeing a show at the Royale. Great sound, nice people running the place, and plenty of room even with the show sold out.

    Deer Tick @ Webster Hall

by keekskis on 11/23/11Webster Hall - New York

Last time I was at Webster Hall was to see the Libertines some time ago - I forgot what a great venue it truly is. There is really no bad place to be, and the vibe this past Sunday night was terrific. John was on - and the comradery between the bands (Thomas Hardy, The Guards, and Deer Tick) was evident and only added to the amazing positive energy. You can tell these guys were having the time of their life, and we were as well. Hope to be back again soon!

    Tick's addiction

by goodbyetimes on 11/22/11Webster Hall - New York

They're 4 (5!) grown men, but they act like kids. They sound like grown ups, but they play like kids. Their act is a drug store for music addicts. I'm standing at the threshold. Gimme a beer!

    Parasites, indeed

by Squirrlis on 11/22/11Webster Hall - New York

Deer Tick: the name sounds like a parody, like a variation on a popular theme (back-to-the-Earth band names), but something that no one likes. Kind of like Spinal Tap, only this band is real, and the songs aren't as catchy. I'll admit that I'm biased in that I am not a Deer Tick fan, but I went to the show figuring that maybe I would like them. Some of the songs were good, and the venue is beautiful, but, essentially, these are just some guys in their twenties having a good time hovering between genres. The drummer rocked pretty heard; in fact, they aren't bad musicians. I think I was mostly turned off by the lead singer's drunken banter in between songs and the fact that none of the songs really grabbed me, aside from the couple of covers that they played and one original. Overall, it was okay. Maybe if I were a bigger fan of their music, I would have enjoyed the show more, but I'm not.
