Deck The Hall Ball #25 -- Not worth the wait...
by McDouK on 12/13/17KeyArena - SeattleLet me start by saying that I've been to Deck The Hall Ball in the past, it's always been a fun show, if only a little bit drawn out due to the number of acts planned, and stage transitions required for those artists. That being said, the quality of the performances always outweighed the time spent at the event, usually culminating in a great couple of final shows. Now, at DTHB25 this was not the case. Only one band actually put on an engaging performance that was acceptable for the insanely expensive tickets (over $100 per person this year). The honor of best performance goes to 'The Lumineers' for certain, as the engaged with the crowd and played a set worthy of a festival setting like this. Personally, I went to see one of my all-time favorite bands - 'The Killers' - unfortunately they put on a really crummy & rushed show that felt disingenuous. They didn't even stick around long enough to play an encore, barely clocking in at just over an hour for their set, despite being the headliners. Key Arena was a mess, as usual. The only stand-out good thing was they have managed to clean up the surrounding area & grounds enough to make the arena look nice, but food, drinks, alcohol are still insanely over priced and not worth your time or hard earned cash. Bathrooms were messy and looked relatively unkempt. They can pay an usher to stand in every aisle (who don't even bother to check tickets, or acknowledge you) but their janitorial staff clearly got the night off. I'd recommend skipping this event in the future unless changes are made.
