I do it for the gaze (gays)

Madeline Ashton is the most beautiful actress (just ask her) ever to grace the stage and screen. Helen Sharp is the long-suffering author (just ask her) who lives in her shadow. They have always been the best of frenemies...until Madeline steals Helen's fiance away. As Helen plots revenge and Madeline clings to her rapidly fading star, their world is suddenly turned upside down by Viola Van Horn, a mysterious woman with a secret that's to die for.
After one sip of Viola's magical potion, Madeline and Helen begin a new era of life (and death) with their youth and beauty restored...and a grudge to last eternity.
Starring Tony Award nominees Megan Hilty (Wicked, "Smash"), Jennifer Simard (Company, Disaster!), and Christopher Sieber (Spamalot, Company), with Grammy Award winner Michelle Williams (Destiny's Child, Chicago), Death Becomes Her, based on the classic 1992 film, is a drop-dead hilarious new musical comedy about friendship, love, and burying the hatchet...again, and again, and again.
Life's a bitch and then you die. Or not!
Best opening song of any musical. Just enough camp and so many laughs.
Hilariously funny! The cast was phenomenal, particularly Meghan Hilty. What a tour de force performance! A few things could be tightened up or possibly cut, but it’s nearly ready for Broadway. Go see it. You won’t be disappointed!
Wonderful show and the talent was fantastic. Loved seeing Megan Hilty again and in a comedic role this time. The first act drags a bit though, I think that there are some extraneous parts that can be cut. The second act definitely shines and was hilarious! Overall, a good show and I would definitely see it again!
The group that I went with loved this show! It was a great experience and we had a lot of laughs. The venue was small and lines got long for drinks and the restrooms, but the show was great!
Loved the reimagined Death Becomes Her musical. I liked the updates to make it modern but still remaining true to the original. The cast is incredible and overall production was really well executed!
Loved, loved, loved this show. It was fun, full of camp and every actor on the stage shined and was amazing. The talent was immense. I highly recommend seeing it while you can and I hope it goes to Broadway.
This was one of the best and most fun musicals I've gone to. Despite being in preview this show was spot on. Loved every minute and worth traveling across country to see. The moment a soundtrack is released it's mine.
Although there were a few prop glitches, the cast kept us entertained and improved phenomenally! As someone who has not seen the original film or have any idea what the show was about, I found myself laughing and engaged from beginning to end. The singing was incredible, the comedic timing was on spot, and Michelle Williams! All 10000/10! Will be seeing again.
Out of town tryouts are hit or miss. This one is a hit. At intermission, I realized Death Becomes Her could be the next big Broadway hit. I haven't heard so much laughter and applause since The Producers tried out in Chicago. The first act is tight - laughs, music, costumes, scenery, staging, choreography, orchestra and performances are all ready for New York. Second act was almost as good but needs a bit of tweaking mid-way through to reach the levels of Act I. That's why shows have out-of-town tryouts. By the end of the Chicago run, this should be in 5 star shape. Please credit the amazing cast member who falls down the stairs. They almost received a standing ovation for this incredible bit. The leads are strong and the ensemble members did a wonderful job with the parts they performed individually and collectively. That's a frustrating part of an out of town tryout - songs, scenes and characters change regularly so this information is not in the Playbill. Congratulations to all involved. I saw the 7th public performance and the cast must have felt the audience's appreciation. Available theaters are scarce in New York but they need to make room for this show.
OMG! I didn’t even know where to start. I have been a fan of the movie since I was a little girl. I didn’t know how they would make this into a musical but because of my love for musicals and nostalgia of the movie, it was a must for me to see it. From the second it started and the second it ended, I had a permanent smile on my face. The cast was amazing, so on point, and of course the singing. There was also moments of improv and they were natural to keep the showing. It hit all the main scenes from the movie with adding a current twist. I can’t rave about this show. It seriously in my top favorite shows of all time.
This was fun, creative and well done! The characters played this so brilliantly. I came to Chicago from Canada we decided to see this! The best decision ever!
The cast was phenomenal! We saw opening night and then again two days later - both shows were spectacular! Very funny, singing was impeccable, timing was great (especially by Jennifer Simard) and an allover fantastic production. Megan Hilty showed her quick witted skills when the curtain wasn’t cooperating and it made the scene even better! She was outstanding! Jennifer Simard was a beyond joy to watch. I had seen her before in Company on Broadway and she was so funny…she brought this role to an even higher level. She was stunning all around! Christopher Sieber was equally incredible, esepcially in his drunken solo towards the end. Michelle Williams was commanding in her role and a joy to watch as well. The dancers/ensemble cast were so complimentary to the actors that it was such a seamless relationship from scene to scene. Not without saying…they also were all gorgeous! I am a huge fan of the movie and went into this show with high expectations…and this production well exceeded all of them! We loved it so much we saw it twice during our stay in Chicago! I can’t wait to see it on the Broadway stage in the future!
Beautiful voices and lights. Such a great moment. We are from France and we really enjoyed the show. Thanks! It was impressive !
The show was simply amazing! The script was drafted well and the cast was perfectly cast! The direction and choreography exceeded expectations and is another award-winning creation by renowned favorite, Chris Gattelli! The set was brilliant and the costumes were sheer perfection!
Loved the show! Funny, great music, and an amazing cast!! I definitely recommend seeing it!
terrific performances, great score, stunning sets and costumes and LOTS of fun
I went opening night and HUNNY those vocals were fresh!! Great vocals from beautiful performers. I knew going into it that Michelle had a great voice but hearing everyone else blew me out the water! But not only the amazing vocals but the show was also great. Beautiful costumes and great optimization of the moving stage during each segment. I could recommend it enough and was happy to have caught it from the very beginning. I am gonna be getting another ticket soon before they head off.
This show stayed very true to the movie and added great updates using current time and events. The "falling down the stairs"scene was soooo wonderfully choregraphed! All the actors and actresses did an amazing job and would definitely come see this again.
We came from the UK to see this show. And we are so glad we did & it was everything we wished for and more. We actually went two nights in a row as it was that good. If you’re a fan of the Movie, you’ll adore this. It’s everything the Movie is & more!
Very well done. Book is very funny. Direction and choreography to notch. Megan and Jennifer are wonderful as always. Highly recommended.
