This was our first time going to a roller derby event and we really didn't know much about roller derby, such as the rules, scoring, etc. but we had a great time!
We arrived and it had already started, we grabbed some beers ($10 a pop, pretty expensive but so are all sporting events) and headed to the roller derby area. Walking up we noticed there were several booths selling various things from t-shirts to cupcakes and even books. It was easy to find a seat even with the crowd (no assign seating). The crowd gets into when a girl gets knocked down hard, so of course we starting partaking in the cheering. During half-time there was a chick in a roller derby outfit with a question mark on her helmet, she was awesome, very nice, didn't look at us like we were dumb for being there and not knowing the rules, she explained the rules and the scoring to us so when half time was over we actually knew why we were cheering (lol)..
It was awesome! I recommend getting there early for parking!
