David Sanborn and Earl Klugh made beautiful music

by OHfan on 7/25/09Fraze Pavilion - Kettering

Truly a great night of music. Earl Klugh and his band started the show. Such a talented guitarist playing beautiful music. Had a truly great band especially the keyboardist who was so energetic! My favorite song was "Back In Central Park" which featured individual band members. Bottom line: Earl is a master of the acoustic guitar! David Sanborn and his band took the stage next. I can easily say David Sanborn is just the best! He played so many great songs with a mastery unequaled. I particularly loved his final number "The Dream". Awesome show I would highly recommend for anyone who loves good music played by extremely talented musicians.

    David Sanborn rocks!

by Lamb on 7/25/09Fraze Pavilion - Kettering

The concert was amazing! It was a perfect night, a slight breeze, clear skies...then a fantastic performance by David and his very accomplished band. The mix was just right, and every song was great! We've seen David before and have always enjoyed his music; tonight was no exception. Earl Klugh was very good, too, as the opening act, although I think he would be more enjoyable in a smaller, more intimate setting. I'd prefer hearing more from him than with a full band.

Earl Klugh Finally in SW Ohio

    by earlklughsnumber1fan on 7/25/09Fraze Pavilion - Kettering

Earl opened the show, but only played for an hour. He was the main reason we went to this concert. He's smooth jazz personified. David Sanborn, as good as he is, tends to be louder and more basic jazz oriented. My big disappointment was that Earl packed up the bus and left the venue during the time David was on stage, and was not available for autographs, etc.

    keyboard player was excellent

by hardymae on 7/25/09Fraze Pavilion - Kettering

The music overall was very good. Music seemed to be a little more in the realm of the "Blues"as opposed to Jazz but still enjoyable.

    Sanborn was Excellent

by brunnegd on 7/25/09Fraze Pavilion - Kettering

A very enjoyable show. Sanborn and his combo covered everything from smooth jazz to blues to rock and roll. Excellent long jam sessions, outstanding musicians, especially Peterson, the keyboard player. A tight sound, always together. Klugh was entertaining, but his group was not always together.

Fantastic Way to Spend An Evening

by EnjoysLiveMusic on 7/25/09Fraze Pavilion - Kettering

Earl Klugh opened the evening with such great music I thought he might steal the show from David Sanborn. But David Sanborn and his band were as fantastic as I had hoped. It was an incredibly enjoyable evening under the stars.

    Earl Klugh & David Sanborn

by DRDV on 7/25/09Fraze Pavilion - Kettering

Earl Klugh was fairly good - although he played far more up-tempo, louder songs than what I was expecting. It appeared he got along well with his band. Dave Sanborn's band seemed to be featured more than Dave himself, especially the guitarist, who spent a fair amount of time on two extended solos.

A Night To Remember At The Fraze

by Trentsut on 7/25/09Fraze Pavilion - Kettering

This was a fantastic concert that highlighted the talent that these two artists have. The show started out with Earl Klugh and his nine piece band. They turned it out. Earl played some of his cuts and then let his bass player, his keyboard player and then one of his backup singers do songs they recorded. Then it was time for the man, David Sanborn! David and his band simply were fantastic. I seen them in Covington, Kentucky last year at the Madison Theater. They were good at the Madison but they simply were fantastic at the Fraze. This was my first visit to the Fraze and I will be going back especially when artists like Earl Klugh and David Sanborn are on the agenda. David is one of the best sax players out there and he did not dissapoint!

    David Sanborn "ROCKS!"

by ConnieD on 7/25/09Fraze Pavilion - Kettering

We had a blast. We love Sanborn. And there's a lot to be said for having an opening group like Earl Klugh get the crowd going. Earl's group was phenominal. And as good as they were - and they were really good ... Sanborn came out and just blew us all away. He's just on this whole other level. How he makes a "regular" sax sound like a soprano sax is beyond me. Got to hear old favorites and new songs. And of course he saved our favorite for the finale. I would see him again in a minute. Totally worth it!

    What a disappointment!

by SanFan on 7/25/09Fraze Pavilion - Kettering

Let me first say that I am a huge fan of David Sanborn and have all his CD's. However, the vast majority of his show seemed to have focused on his band members and not David. Several times, David only played for about 30 seconds at the end of a tune to finish it, while the rest of it highlighted either the keyboards, the drummer, the base player or guitarist. To many tunes were performed this way and didn't get to listen to "the" David Sanborn.

    David Sanborn ... oh, Yeah!

    by Bandaid308 on 7/14/09Jazz Alley - Seattle

Love Dave Sanborn, love Jazz Alley. Put them together and how can you go wrong? Music set included old hits and several new cuts off his new CD. All shows were played to a packed house. Definately a great time and "will do it again!"
