    David & Dell

by Maineimac on 11/27/15State Theatre - Portland

It was great to see them both but I was disappointing that they didn't have the band with them. My fault for not looking closer before buying tickets. When I saw mentioned Del McCoury Band in the promo I assumed that they would be along too. I have very mixed emotions about serving alcohol at this venue... the drunks caused so much noise and disturbance on the balcony and isles behind us that it ruined enjoying the show!!! This is especially true for acoustic music. With rock n roll we probably wouldn't have been as distracted/disturbed, but it ruined being able to hear & enjoy the performers voices and acoustic music, especially the softer ballads/songs/solos. But still... I was glad to see them both again after a long time .So glad to see them both be able to still do what they love & share it with us.. Real human made (analog) music.. real instruments & voices .. Last I saw Del & with his sons (band) was at the Left Bank Cafe in Blue Hill ... I was privileged to run sound n record for WERU then... very intimate & wonderful shows.

Very good concert, David Grisman is a mandolin god, no matter what. I would have liked to have heard more of his Dawg music, not quite so weighted toward bluegrass, but maybe that is just me.

Grisman and McCoury Legends of Blue Grass

by hollydog on 11/23/15State Theatre - Portland

Wasn't quite sure that Del McCoury band would be there or not, but was pleasantly surprised when just Dave and Del walked on stage. I knew then that we were about to see an outstanding performance from 2 legends of blue grass. And I don't think there are words to possibly describe what we witnessed. All I can say is WOW! For those of you that have not caught these 2 together, DON'T MISS THE OPPORTUNITY! When the folks sitting next to you tell you that they drove six hours for this show that should tell you something! Again all I can say is WOW! what a show!

    Grisman and McCroury

by Everlys on 11/23/15State Theatre - Portland

These two are master musicians! We loved the theater, and the audience! To say enthusiastic is an understatement! We've seen Del McCoury with his band, and wished they were all there, but listening to David Grisman play the mandolin was a wonderful experience. He's the master!

    Dawg and Del

by HDGTTerrapin on 11/23/15State Theatre - Portland

David and Del provided a top notch show with plenty of audience interaction. There sets were full of Bluegrass favorites and the interaction between the two was fantastic. Their friendship was obvious.

    A little short

by Anonymous on 4/30/13Howard Theatre - Washington

David Grisman & John Sebastian are pros and veteran performers, so the music was solid. I was disappointed in how short each set was. Both the first and second set was only about 45 minutes with a 15-20 minute break in between. I was also surprised and annoyed with the additional 15% service charge for the food service at the Howard Theatre; this was on top of the 15% gratuity. I have tickets to another show at the Howard Theatre, but that will probably be my last for this venue.

    Music and conversation excelled

    by 60sFlowerChild on 4/28/13Howard Theatre - Washington

Due to the Howard Theater's seating policy of putting strangers at the same table, I met three new people before the music began, and had a wonderful couple of hours of conversation talking about performers we've seen and our favorite music genres. By the time John Sebastian and David Grisman came on stage, we were ready for some great tunes. They told wonderful stories of how they met and their long-time collaboration over the years between two sets of songs that included some of Sebastian's old songs - even an acoustic version of "Summer in the City." It was almost like having them play in my living room. Wish it could have gone on for another couple of hours.

    Grisman in full swing

by Djangoshmango on 11/9/12Royce Hall - LA

I've seen him many times in bluegrass and jazz format. I enjoyed having a full time fiddle with this tour. Grant Gordy on guitar is adding nice jazz chops and gets outside in a cool way. Fiddle and flute playing in harmony is awesome. Dawg's chops are sharp!

    Great Venue / Great Music

by Chordprojer on 11/5/12Royce Hall - UCLA - Los Angeles

When I woke up and my AMEX told me that David Grisman was playing in LA, I was first upset and then really excited. Upset since my credit card was the factor that alerted me of such an awesome event...hence the excitement. I was worried about Royce Hall at UCLA as there wouldn't be any concessions. As it turned out they had two full bars and a great outdoor terrace.

    Great show!!

by ArloG on 11/5/12Royce Hall - UCLA - Los Angeles

For you who don't know who these people are, that's good. It means that the rest of us can get seats. But really, you need to hear things like what Grisman and Lindley bring. Good stuff. Always a treat.
