  • Discover David!

by RandumbIdeas on 10/25/09Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and I discovered David Garrett during the wee hours of the morning while watching a PBS pledge drive. When friends ask who he is, my Twitter-sized explanation is "sort of a rock-and-roll violinist." His live show, backed by a four-piece band (piano, guitar, bass, drums/percussion), lived up to his recording and wildly exceeded my expectations. He blends a comfortable, casual stage presence, brilliant technical skills, and genuine emotion into an unforgettable display.

  • An epic night

by USMACadet on 10/25/09Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

It was amazing and I can't wait to go to another of his performance. I brought three of my friends and they loved him as well. It was an epic performance. I won't be able to forget about it for a while.

Talented violonist, brings the crowd into the act, engages the crowd, tells great/funny personal stories. Must see.

  • Impressive!!

by Jillane on 10/24/09The Midland by AMC - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

As a new student (55 years old, playing for about 9 Months), I can assure you this young man is quite an inspiration! He makes the most difficult pieces look so easy. As my mother used to say "he can make that violin talk". His band was also extremely talented. I can't say enough good things about this concert. It was fantastic from beginning to end. Not to mention he's very good looking, goes without saying!

  • Eye opener !!

by FLACKER on 10/23/09The Midland by AMC - Kansas CityRating: 4 out of 5

This was a eye opening concert, The fusion of classical with rock really works well with a lead Violinist, Davids stage presence is great and mixed with a nice bit of story telling keeps your attention focused and wanting more. I was expecting him to have an Orchestra with him but I was not disappointed, well worth the money. Bought a cd after and have been enjoying that also.

  • David Garrett is simply astounding!

by Missyann2 on 10/23/09The Midland by AMC - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

Garrett interacts well with the audience and he and his band bring a vast array of songs, from classical to rock.

  • David Garrett is Awesome!

by TXLefty on 10/22/09The Midland by AMC - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

David is not your average "violin player" - he is much more! Even my sister, who is not a big fan of classical music, was so impressed that she bought his CD at intermission! The Paginnini he played, where he was bowing and plucking at the same time (sorry, I don't know the technical terms for that particular technique) was fantastic! And the fact that David is nice on the eyes and has a great accent doesn't hurt! It was worth the flight from Texas just to go to his concert!

  • David Garrett Doesn't Disappoint

by jlginsodak on 10/22/09The Midland by AMC - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

David Garrett's performance was everything I expected it to be, and more! I had already purchased his CD after seeing the Live in Berlin special on PBS, and as good as that performance was, seeing him live was even more awesome. In a live setting, the audience gets to know the artist better because their personality comes through in the interchanges between songs. Most of these special moments are edited out on DVDs and TV performances, and it's a shame really. I drove six hours (from Sioux Falls, SD) to see this concert, and it was totally worth it. I would do it again in a heartbeat!

  • PERFECTION!!!!

If you don't know who David Garrett is then you are really missing out! I had never heard of David Garrett until I just happen to see him on KCPT. What an amazing young man with so much talent! A MUST SEE! If he comes back to Kansas City...WE ARE THERE!!!

  • David Garrett is a charm

by buttercup21 on 10/21/09The Midland by AMC - Kansas CityRating: 4 out of 5

The lights go down, stage lights come on, you see the band & hear a violin, but don't see him. Next thing you know, here comes David Garrett walking down the back isle of the theater. He was full of energy & continuously mixed up the sound- fast to slow to classical to rock to movie themes (Pirates of the Carribean). We had a great time.

David Garrett and his band put on a great show. He has talent and a terriffic way to relate to the audience. I recommend anyone see this show.

  • David Garrett is lightyears ahead of his time.

by jcov on 10/21/09The Midland by AMC - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

David Garret's ability to meld classical pieces with Classic Jazz and Rock was truly breathtaking. Virtually every age present last night was spellbound. His easy, humble, yet engaging and charasmatic mannerisms were felt by all as he gave personalizations in the presentations of many of the songs that were performed. The only negative comment I can relate is the marketing. If everyone in Kansas City had known or been exposed to the pure genius in store for the evening, the show would have been standing room only.

  • David Garrett was AWESOME

by Sunshine51 on 10/21/09The Midland by AMC - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

David Garret is a cross between Rock Star and classical violinist. He is also incredibly HOT!! The program is about 1/2 classical, Vivaldi's piece being my favorite, and 1/2 rock. He played music by ACDC, Jimi Hendrix, and Queen to name a few. My favorite rock piece is his version of Smooth Criminal. Just to mix things up even more, he threw in a little jazz with a cool version of Summertime. I can't say enough about this super talented hunk. He is a native of Germany and is much better known in Europe. I'm so glad that he came to KC and I hope he comes back.

  • splendid expertise

by starview on 10/21/09The Midland by AMC - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

David Garret, for my taste, had the perfect combination of music, and reworked the rock into beautiful, refined expression. It was one of the best audible experiences I have ever had. Very touching. And his personal compositions were wonderful -- especially the one to the ex-girlfriend. Thanks

  • Smoking HOT!

The music was as gorgeous, exciting, and enticing as the artist. Simply thrilling the entire evening.

  • by angryjohnny on 10/21/09The Midland by AMC - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

If this show was advertised more than just on PBS, it would have sold out. They guy is musically unbelievable and passionate about his work. I would much rather spend my money going to see this guy perform than spend $75 to sit in the upper deck of the Sprint Arena. One of the best shows and performances of my life.

  • David Garrett is FABULOUS!!

by WowedinKC on 10/21/09The Midland by AMC - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

David Garrett and his band of extremely talented musicians put on an amazing show! You can tell they truly love what they do!! David covers all genres of music from classical to hard rock. Who knew you could play Metallica on a violin?! We liked the way David introduced each piece and told personal stories during the show. My teenage daughter (a violinist herself) was given a meet and greet pass by a staff member. She says David is just as genuine and personable face-to-face as he is onstage. David definitely has two lifelong fans!

He has a beautiful talent on the violin. I love the mix of music he plays. He connects with the audience by sharing stories of his past. Would definitely see him again.
