He is such a talented performer! He kept the audience engaged throughout the performance as he encouraged participation and shared personal anecdotes. I absolutely enjoyed the show from beginning to end!

The concert was amazing. David Garrett has so much energy! And what a creative mind! The music was fun, entertaining and virtuously performed, the public didn't need any warm-up to be completely involved. David Garrett introduces all his songs in a very natural manner often with a humoristic twist which highlights the human in him and makes him and his music accessible and is of great help for children or people not used to listen to classical music. His band is very good, too, and there seems to be great communication between all the musicians. In addition to the songs on the cd he played some more, like the paganini variations and the bumble-bee . When he played summertime after talking about his overheated flat in NYC, I could almost feel the syrupy heat of that summer!

  • David Garrett is ecstasy to the ears....

by Figuero on 3/1/10Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Not only is the pitch perfect, but David doesn't miss a single note...ever. Relax and enjoy the ride. You will not cringe during his performance. This time, I sat next to a professional violinist. She was there to "pick up hints". She said his bow speed is amazing and flawless. If you have the opportunity, see David Garrett live.

  • David Garrett, THE BEST CONCERT

by hmanuelsvd on 3/1/10Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

I have been to many concerts before, most of them well-known artists however, David Garrett has been so far the best that I've seen. He is such a talented man. Thank you David for sharing us your God-Given talent. I was surprised to see people of all ages and I was amazed how children enjoyed each and every pieces that he played. He is definitely an inspiration to young kids as well as people like me who like classical and pop music combined together.

  • What a treat!

    by hag4 on 3/1/10Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

David Garrett was beyond amazing. He is not only talented at playing the violin, but at writing music, arranging music, and performing for an audience. It was so much fun to watch his joy of music and to interact with the music. I was dancing in my seat through the whole show. I was especially impressed with the variety of music styles played, but that was perfect because I like all kinds! His classical arrangements were so beautiful and I particularly enjoyed songs like "He's a Pirate." I was glad that he played songs that weren't on the CD so that I got to hear songs I was familiar with and new songs.

  • David Garrett -- an INCREDIBLE performance!

by Dootiful on 3/1/10Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

I had no idea what to expect from David Garrett's performance, as I had not seen him before and only recently "discovered" him. I was surprised to see that evidently I was in the minority. The full house erupted in cheers and a standing ovation as David appeared at the front of the theater and played his violin while making his way to the stage. His band(drums, bass guitar, electric guitar, keyboard) accompanied him throughout his performance. An enthusiastic reception continued throughout the 2+ hour performance which culminated in a standing ovation and two S.O. encores. He performed an incredibly wide variety of musical genres from heavy metal to rock to pop to classical, which one rarely hears together in one performance -- mostly well known pieces but with his own unique interpretation, all of them played with amazing heart, soul, and talent! He also played several impressive compositions of his own. It was unbelievable what he could get that violin to do!!! He spent a couple minutes prior to each piece talking to the audience as lead-in/explanation. He was very personable and seemed to enjoy the enthusiastic audience response (asked us to clap along with several songs). David Garrett is an extremely entertaining and amazingly talented musician. This was his first performance in San Diego and I sure hope there are more to come.

Both David and his band were incredible. What an amazing amount of talent!

  • the most inspiring musician!

    by Alana11 on 3/1/10Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Really liked the show and of course David....he's the best! Great response from the audience all throughout the show. Inspiring performance from David and his band, all members of the band contributed in an effortless spirit along with David to give a breathtaking evening of music. Loved the rock inspired tunes, wonderful combination of notes and arrangement from the band. David Garrett felt comfortable with the audiences and connected us to his personal experiences by linking them with his music. That made a personal introduction to each tune and gave us a glimpse of David behind the music. Good sense of humor.

  • Unbelievably Amazing!!

    by Eeyore777 on 3/1/10Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

This show was AMAZING! David Garrett is truly talented and gifted. He writes and plays beautiful music with such passion. He is charming and humble. He can play absolutely anything!!! He has managed to bridge the gap and make classical music fun and exciting for people who probably would not normally go to a concert to listen to a Violinist. His arrangements for popular music, such as Casmir and Nothing Else Matters were brilliant and intriguing to watch. I cannot wait to get his new album he said was recently released in Europe. This is an amazing show that you could take your children to see and they would definitely be excited to see it.

  • David Garrett Rocket Balboa Theatre

by Piotr on 3/1/10Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

David played a great selection of music, from classical to rock. He was personable, told stories, wasn't afraid to be in the audience as he started of the show from within the audience, and got up on stage for the second song. He played Bach, Brahms, Gershwin, Bernstein, and rocked with Queen, Metallica, Led Zeppelin. He threw in a couple of his compositions and played a technical progression composed by Niccolo (something italian composer). He threw in a fun tune like dueling banjos, and the hungraian dance, non stop good music. He closed the show with an awesome performance of Thunderstruck and played 2 encores - and even took audience request for bumble bee for his first encore. Picked up to go dinner after the show and saw David signing autographs for people about an hour after the show.

  • A Musical Treat

    by Rose25 on 3/1/10Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

I went out on a limb and bought tickets to David Garrett without knowing who he was because I'm trying to expand my musical horizons. I'm glad I did because what a treat it was! Blending his violin genius with the band was nothing short of sensational. I especially enjoyed mixing the classical music with the rock music. Awesome performance.

  • David Garrett Rocks!!!

by samandfin on 3/1/10Silver Legacy Casino - RenoRating: 5 out of 5

I had never heard of David Garrett before seeing him on Oprah. It just so happened that I saw this show listed a couple of days before and had to see him live. I was absolutely amazed by the intimate nature of the venue, the wide range of musical genres and his comfort on stage communicating his vision with the audience. I am now a huge fan and want to take my son to see him live. David - come to San Francisco soon! I highly recommend everyone have a listen to his music. You won't be disappointed!

  • Amazing performer

by Lainney on 3/1/10Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

David Garrett is truly amazing. How could a 28 year old man be so magnificent as a violinist, playing brilliantly and with heart in all genres- rock, jazz, classical? In addition, he has written his own songs and has been the arranger of all the numbers. Our group of six young 60 year olds, were enthralled and highly entertained. We were also appreciative of the broad age-range of the audience he drew.

  • Fantastic Show

by SDCRAIG on 3/1/10Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Great atmosphere to see a world's best violinist. David Garrett provided one of the best shows I have ever attended. His mix of modern and classical music resonated with the entire audience. His personal demeanor set the tone for a very relaxed and personable evening. His band was superior and derserves high recognition in their own right. A truly great performer.

  • David Garrett

by mkboldin on 3/1/10Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Fantastic show. He is a phenomenal violinist, who plays a range of musical styles. Everything from rock, to contemporary, to classical selections. The venue was wonderful. Small setting where there was no bad seat in the house. My only critique of the performance would be that he needs to focus on playing to the audience and not his guitar player. I had front row center seats and spent most of the evening looking at his back because he was turned away from the audience. And, while I thoroughly enjoyed having the accompanying instruments (drums, bass, guitar and keyboards) for the 'Flight of the Bumblebee' I would have preferred it with just his violin as the drums and other instruments drowned out the music and it was hard to hear his actual playing over all the other instruments. I give 2 thumbs up and would highly recommend seeing his show.
