David Foster on Tour

Though he's best known as the behind-the-scenes producer and songwriter for megastars like Celine Dion, Michael Buble and Josh Groban, David Foster isn't afraid to step out in front of the mic on occasion. In 2018, he launched The Hitman Tour, a special series of intimate shows that saw him perform selections from his vast repertoire of hits on the piano alongside a revolving cast of guest vocalists (including his wife, Katharine McPhee) and share stories of the songs' creation. The tour proved so successful that Foster extended it through 2019 and into 2020. But Foster isn't one to rest on his past glories: April 2020 sees the release of his first solo album in 24 years, Eleven Words, which applies the stripped-down piano setting of the Hitman Tour to a set of 11 new originals.

David Foster in Concert

Look up any adult-contemporary pop hit from the past 40 years, and there's a good chance David Foster's name is somewhere in the credits. Over the course of his storied career, the Victoria, British Columbia, impresario has mentored some of the biggest names in pop and pushed veteran rock artists to even loftier levels of success, earning some 16 Grammys and Order of Canada honors in the process. After first breaking into the music industry playing keyboards for Canadian soul-rock troupe Skylark, Foster spent the '70s as a session player for the likes of George Harrison and Diana Ross, before scoring his first high-profile writing credit on Earth, Wind & Fire's classic 1979 slow jam "After the Love Has Gone." But through his early-'80s collaborations with Chicago, Foster minted his signature glossy sound, transforming the group from a jazzy classic-rock warhorse into a soft-rock hit machine before applying that Midas touch to Lite-FM divas like Celine Dion and Whitney Houston in the '90s. Amazingly, Foster's hitmaking prowess has only grown more potent since then — in the 21st century, he turned Michael Buble from a wedding singer into a world-class crooner and guided Josh Groban's crossover from classical to pop. But for all his successes behind the boards, Foster has never lost his passion for performing, by periodically tending to his own career as a solo artist in between his production work.

    Nothing like no. 1 & 2

by Angel1990 on 10/5/11Mandalay Bay Resort - Las Vegas

I've seen the DVD of both David Foster and Friends and Hitman Returns which was why I decided to watch this show with my family and I was disappointed because it was nothing like the first 2 show he conducted. The one last OCt 1 didnt seem to have enough preparation and there was not enough prominent artists.

Not as good as his previous shows. David Foster was funny but it would have been good if he has new guests.

    Very Dissapointed!!!!

by Nfoxy1 on 10/5/11Mandalay Bay Resort - Las Vegas

Nothing like the dvd. Thought there were going to be plenty of famous performers but there were only the 4 that were advertised. It was mostly pedestrian. Go if you wanted to see one of the 4 performers!!!

    Great music, great performers!!!

by Stanmanh on 10/4/11Mandalay Bay Resort - Las Vegas

David Fosters show is pretty much the same as his "Hitman" series. There will be many songs that bring back memories. A very enjoyable evening.

    Charice unimpressed

by nicknickname on 10/4/11Mandalay Bay Resort - Las Vegas

I was looking forward for the first time to hear Charice sing live, but I was disappointed. She didn't hold the big notes long enough and sang with too many runs. She should stick to the original melody of great songs. And I hate to say this, but to make it in the U.S., appearance really counts. She is gaining weight by the day. That is disappointing, too. I'm not a performer, but I still try to lose weight and try to look good as best as I can. I hope she makes it in the U.S. market because she has the greatest voice bar none.

    David Foster iIS the Hitman!

by Lovu2 on 10/4/11Mandalay Bay Resort - Las Vegas

The show was great! I only wished that the venue was more Senior-friendly in terms of accessibility to a wheelchair for older folks who have problem walking. I was with my Mom, and she had a hard time going to our Section, more so walking down to our seats.

    Amazing music, Amazing talent!

by Skidude on 10/4/11Mandalay Bay Resort - Las Vegas

My wife and I love David Foster music and we thought the show was fabulous. We grew up to Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire, Kenny Loggins, etc. every song was familiar. It was an especially nice touch pulling"random" talent from the audience who claimed they could sing, then having them pick a song and give an impromptu performance with magnificent voices, backed up by David and the band.

    ENTERTAINING

by Uteh on 10/4/11Mandalay Bay Resort - Las Vegas

As always with his shows, David Foster's show was entertaining. I have seen 2 of his shows live and the other 2 on DVD. It would have been better if he had more name performers this time as he had his previous shows. Also, it seemed that not much preparation and thought went into this show. While he was entertaining and moved the show right along, I did not go to Las Vegas to see him tell jokes, hear him sing, or tell us about his 3 wives. I spent the time and money to hear good performers perform his music! "Finding" one new talent from the audience is good enough (maybe two); but 4 or 5, that was too much. I felt like it was "Amateur Hour". I got the feeling that he had 2 - 2 1/2 hours to fill, and he did his best to do it with jokes, stories, banter.

    Donna Summer rocked the house

by Bts6680 on 10/4/11Mandalay Bay Resort - Las Vegas

As usual for a David Foster show, the big name performers were excellent. One of the most amazing features of this show was the amateur talent that was selected from the audience. Fantastic show. Very entertaining. Worth the ticket price.

First of david foster seriea concerts

by Anthony404 on 10/4/11Mandalay Bay Resort - Las Vegas

It was disappointing compared to the pbs specials and youtube videos ive seen of previois performances.charice who was the headliner only was at 3/4s her usual self. She did travel 26 hrs to be at this event but for a headliner, her people shoild have made sure she had enoigh rest so she could perform. She also came out 2nd and it was probably due to her being tired ans not being able to give the ahow atopping performance ahe usually does. Donna summer also had an injury and experienxed vertigo but was amazing. There wasnt any collaborations btwn artists which i hoped for alao. That being said, i would highly recommend going if you typically dont go to concerts. It was spontaneous . Many thinga unrehearsed. He brought audownce members on stage to sing and boy david foster and his band made them sound great with his guidance. He ia the beat producer of all time. He also brought thia band called overtone on stage from south africa. They blew my mind and finally , i have to say the show stopper was ruben studdard! Who knew. He was worth the ticket price for a 10min improv thing he and david foster does. Dont want to give it away if you do go to the next show. He will have a show once a month for the next 10 months at mandalay bay. Earth wind and fire, chaka kahn will be the headliners along with ruben, charice and kenny loggins. Hopefully they will all be well rested. As a monthly concert attendee and who spent alot of money just for traveling to see thia concert, i wanted more out of it .

    David Foster has been better

by RedEyeWeekend on 10/4/11Mandalay Bay Resort - Las Vegas

I was a little disappointed that the concert did not have more big name performers. A lot of folks Mr. Foster has just discovered and people from the audience were a large part of the event.

David Foster & Friends was just ok..

by saxmanfromhawaii on 10/4/11Mandalay Bay Hotel - Las Vegas

I guess I was expecting a concert more like the Hit Man & Hit Man Returns DVDs. Kenny Loggins, Charice, Ruben Studdard, and Donna Summers was about all there was. The rest were amateur singers that David brought up to show off their talent. It was almost as if he was trying to kill time. Donna Summer did get in a "fender bender" right before the concert and thankfully she was alright. Which probably is the reason he kept asking the audience for singers. Anyways, I definately won't go to the Nov. 25th concert because it'll be just like this one. Just telling it like I see it.

    Excellent Show

by Mosed on 10/4/11Mandalay Bay Resort - Las Vegas

A truly wonderful night with start after star, laughter, and lots of impromptu which was fun. It was 2 hours, 50 minutes, just the right length. The favorite of the night for my wife and I was Ruben Studdard. Wow. The only sad part of the night was having the Christian singer come out of the audience onto the stage and then think it's cool to use profanity with him. We were greatly insulted.

    DFF Concert was good!!!

by Kailiponi on 10/4/11Mandalay Bay Resort - Las Vegas

I did enjoy the concert. I guess I'm spoiled see the previous Concerts which were awesome. I always enjoy Charice; my main reason to going to concert!!! New discoveries are very talented and especially like the young men from South Africa. I think that since Charice had nailed Celines and Whitney Houston's songs, I felt it wasn't a good move to have Sarah Santina sing it. She is very talented but should have been singing other songs. Perhaps, I am being biased, but I am not the master of songs; David Foster is and it's he's show. Going to see the November show. I know I will enjoy it.

    Expected more known Artists

by PinoyRock on 10/3/11Mandalay Bay Resort - Las Vegas

I expected more known Artists. I was disappointed on the section that David talked about his 3 ex-wives and 4th coming. Would have wanted that the original Artists sang the songs instead of David's medley.
