About

David Copperfield on Tour

A living legend who sells out arenas around the globe when not at the Las Vegas theater that bears his name, David Copperfield is one of the most revered and successful performers in the history of show business. Over the course of his six-decade career, the master magician has sold more tickets than any other solo entertainer, including Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley.

David Copperfield's passion for magic, ingenuity as an innovator and ability to astonish are all trademarks of a career that has included Emmy-winning television specials, hit Broadway productions and countless performances. Among his spectacular and iconic feats are walking through the Great Wall of China, making a seemingly impossible escape from Alcatraz prison and — in what was called the Illusion of the Century — causing the Statue of Liberty to disappear in front of a live audience on Liberty Island and millions of TV viewers worldwide.

Viewers can experience his unique brand of magic and storytelling in David Copperfield: An Intimate Evening of Grand Illusions, an entertaining and engaging showcase of his art and craft featuring illusions that often take years to develop and perfect. Widely acclaimed as the greatest illusionist of our time, he continues to wow audiences on his world tours and at his shows inside the David Copperfield Theater at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Who is David Copperfield?

David Copperfield's career in magic began when he was 10 years old, performing in his New Jersey neighborhood as Davino the Boy Magician. By the age of 16, he was a member of the Society of American Magicians and teaching magic at New York University.

Copperfield's decades-long string of top-rated, Emmy-winning television specials began in 1977, where he performed his unprecedented feats and illusions before TV audiences.

When not performing live at such storied locations as the White House and in his own Broadway productions, Copperfield has shared his signature combination of storytelling, stagecraft and magic with audiences worldwide. First presented in 2003, David Copperfield: An Intimate Evening of Grand Illusion toured venues and sold-out arenas across the US and the world. It regularly runs at the David Copperfield Theater at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

We attended David Copperfiled's performance this week and we were sitting in the 4th row. We are still trying to understand how he performed the feats that he entertained us with ! It was truly amazing, extremely entertaining and we would go back and see his show again in a heartbeat !

    Copperfield was mesmerizing

by PSChristensen on 10/2/09STANLEY CENTER FOR THE ARTS - Utica

This was the best show ever! The audience interaction and participation was well received. It was pure family entertainment from the young to the young at heart, a show I was proud to attend. He had a very personal, down to earth personality, he related well to the audience, a flare for comedy, kept the crowd young. The desire to remember your dreams, imagination and the interchild in everyone come alive. Truly a class act!

I can usually figure out how most illusions are done, but some of his illusions are unbelievable. He made 13 members of the audience disappear from chairs on the stage and appear in seats in the balcony. Totally amazing.

very interactive. Almost had the opportunity.

by bunky1234 on 10/1/09Tilles Center Concert Hall - Brookville

If i had realized that there was going to be so much audience participation from the orhcestra level, I would have purchased tickets there. I love the Loge seats for best, overall, view. It was cool when Mr Copperfield made the audience members disappear. When the music stopped, the big silver ball came down on me. The only problem was that it was too large (and slippery) for me to grab it. I tried and it lobbed at some guy below...so I just lost out on the opportunity of a lifetime by not having long enough arms. I guess my mishap made that man's day. That was sort of an interesting experience in itself.

There was a 7 minute intro film and a 4 minute film in the middle of the show of an escape done previously in Las Vegas. I did not pay $76.50 for my family of 4 to watch him on a screen. I would have preferred the hour and a half show to be all live action.

just plain awful unmemborable and boring to boot

by Lynn90 on 10/1/09Tilles Center Concert Hall - Brookville

I was so excited to have the oppotunity to see a magic show live. David Copperfiled no less!! Imagine my disappointment when the stage show was so boring !!! The illusions unoriginal. I was there to see a live performance, The show incorporated many of the magicians more spectacular feats by showing videos of himself on television..If I wanted to watch reruns of his show I could have stayed home and watched old videos. He did two large illusions that were basically the same, he made a vintage"car" appear and he made people "disappear" Using the same whte curtains...just boring, boring boring This was a huge disappointment.

Amazing show! Only problem was show start time was 8:30 and show actually started at 9 and ended at 10! The one hour was chock full of Copperfield magic! Definitely worth seeing.

    David Copperfield Show

by dariap on 10/1/09Tilles Center Concert Hall - Brookville

LOVED David Copperfield's show, his Illusions are AMAZING. He is AMAZING. However his show was just too short, for the price of the ticket. He only performed for about 70 minutes. Should have added at least a half hour more, it was just so captivating, but ended too suddenly and left the audience disappointed.

    Evening of Illusion

by SRMofHuntington on 10/1/09Tilles Center Concert Hall - Brookville

This is the second time I've seen David Copperfield at Tilles and perhaps the 5th time live. While the TV specials are great, there is no comparing to seeing the live show. As always, the illusions are fantastic and even while sitting second row center with a scrutinizing eye, I couldn't begin to figure out how this "magic" is done. There was a new opening with a 5 minute self deprecating series of TV clips with his name being used in popular culture. Ie: when a cop is asked to find evidence he replies, "Who do you think I am - David Copperfield?" Etc, etc. Funny stuff. Some parts are hokey such as the couple "arriving late" and being seated in the first row while David recaps for them the fantastic entrance that they missed. If you are a Copperfield fan you will recognize a few old tricks but there are many new ones to keep you entertained for the nearly one and a half hours. I had a great time and plan to spend another evening of illusion when I next get the chance - a must see!!!

    david copperfield

by Samie09 on 10/1/09Tilles Center Concert Hall - Brookville

The show was entertaining but the preamble where he shows a movie of all the times his name is mentioned was too long and boring...also, his actual performance was too short...otherwise it was a lot of fun and he is a very warm, talented and entertaining man.

    3rd Time Seeing David Copperfield

by Vegas37 on 10/1/09Tilles Center Concert Hall - Brookville

I saw him twice in Vegas and now in New York. He is fantastic! How does he do it? Wait, I don't want to know. The only thing to know is that it is an unforgettible performance w/ awe-inspiring tricks!!!
