DAVID COOK IN CONCERT:

American Idol winner and platinum-selling alt-rock crooner David Cook continues to prove he's a cut above the rest with unparalleled energy and first-rate showmanship on tour. The seasoned performer is no stranger to jaw-dropping performances, and he consistently pulls out the big guns in concert, wowing fans with his impressive pipes and emotional torch songs like "Light On" and "Permanent". Whether he's lending his unforgettable voice to favorites from his 2011 album This Loud Morning or reprising popular cover tunes from his Idol days, Cook is a larger-than-life performer who always delivers the goods at his must-see live shows.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Texas-born, Missouri-raised David Cook began singing in early childhood and took up the guitar at age 13. At 15 he had formed the band Axiom with his high school friend Bobby Kerr. Cook released three albums with the band before moving to Tulsa, OK, where he self-released his solo debut album Analog Heart in 2006. The following year he accompanied his brother to an American Idol audition as a spectator, but ended up trying out himself after a producer noticed him. The The judges were duly impressed and invited him to Hollywood, where he went on to win the show. Following his victory he shattered a Billboard record by landing 11 songs on the Hot 100 chart simultaneously -- the previous record holder was Miley Cyrus, who had 6 concurrent songs on the chart in 2006. Cook made his major label debut on RCA in 2008 with a self-titled album that peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, and his success continued in 2011 with his sophomore album This Loud Morning -- another Top 10 hit thanks to hit singles like "The Last Goodbye" and "Fade into Me". A passionate performer known for his energy and authenticity, Cook continues to captivate ticket buyers on tour.

  • David Cook in his element

by Kaite on 7/13/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

David really knew how to make the show great. He played songs from his album, covered some songs, and played an older song from his previous band. He really rocked out! It was an amazing show.

  • Incredible Concert

by cookthebooks on 7/13/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

David was in great voice and in a great mood. Sang some songs I'd not heard performed before, so that made it even more enjoyable.

  • David Cook was so-so

by snj4805 on 7/13/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

I was more disappointed with House of Blues then David Cook. While I assumed the concert would be a more intimate experience, it was very crowded and I felt like I missed the whole experience. David Cook's set was very short as well, he played for about an hour and at the end of the night, I felt like it might not have been worth it.

  • Cougar For Cook

by HannahsAunt on 7/13/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Excellent just as I expected. He was very personable and enjoyed the crowd. I just wish he would have been on longer. I KNOW there were a few song from the album left off of the concert roster :-) The only negative thing I can say is that the sound was a bit off. I didn't notice it because I was singing along, but my friend who is not as familiar with the lyrics, had a difficult time understanding them. It was as if the music was louder than the vocals. The lights were also fantastic!

  • David Cook was awesome

by MJ00 on 7/13/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

The David Cook concert at Chicago HOB was great. David Cook put on a great show and not only is very talented but was very interactive with the audience which was also enjoyable. My only disappointment with the concert is that he did not play "Time of My Life". Also, this HOB experience was TOTALLY different than when we saw Metro station there because this time the HOB staff was very friendly. I was upset that I didn't bring my camera because lots of people did bring their cameras even though the policy prohibits this(the HOB staff did not check, whereas at Metro Station concert, they did body searches and threatened that anyone caught with a camera would have to leave).

  • AWESOME

by RoughMB on 7/13/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I loved the concert from start to finish. I would however preferred it in a larger venue. I look forward to that day when David Cook sells out the United Center. House of Blues is a great venue for concerts but I thought David was bigger than that.. I felt very bad for the small fans that coouldn't see the stage because of everyone standing. I would recommend not bringing kids for that reason alone.

  • David Cook was fantastic!

by ibidrockgo on 7/13/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

The David Cook concert was great! He rocked the packed house. The crowd was totally into it- singing, clapping and waving along. From the rocked out Bar Ba Sol to a partially a capella Lie, David Cook and his band sounded amazing.

  • David Cook

by spindoctor63 on 7/13/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

David Cook gave the best live performance I have seen by anyone in years. He was energetic and his voice was unbelieveable. I did not realize that he had so many great songs and the guitar playing was awesome. House of Blues venue is great, I was all the way in the back but I could see perfectly.

  • Absolutely Amazing!

by Bebeface3 on 7/13/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Everything you thought it would be and more! Wish he would have sang permanent but i understand why he probably didnt.

  • Really Connected with the crowd!!

by Tikanisesi on 7/13/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I actually bought the tickets for my daughter.. She is a big fan!! I I didn't expect myself to have a good time but I did.. The only complaint was the line to pay for your vallet parking was a joke..Waited 45 minutes.. Nobody there to tell anybody where to line up.. People were cutting in line.. Arguements were flaring up.. It is a fight waiting to happen.. But the show and the House of Blues were amazing.

  • David and his band rocked the house!

by Cindy777 on 7/13/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Concert was awesome, he sounds and looks as good as he does on TV and the album, they played for a long time, he was very kind and charming with the audience, very talented well worth the money.

  • Love Cookie!!!

by envisionkim on 7/13/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

David put on an amazing show! My only problem was it was too short!! I hoped for a longer performance. It left you wanting more! Which is a good thing I would think!

  • David Cook was fantastic

by dee73 on 7/13/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Oh, was this show great! Even my husband, who is not a fan, enjoyed himself, mostly because the guitar work was superb. David Cook really tries to connect with the fans in the audience, and you know he's playing his heart out when the BACK of the room can make out the sweat spots on his T shirt. My only regret - I wish he'd played longer. I will gladly pay to see David Cook again when he returns to Chi. Good choice of venue too - not really a bad "seat" in the house, unless you are a shorter person. I'm never telling ANYONE what I discovered to be my super secret standing spot. Love you, David! I was not familiar with the opening act, Need to Breathe, and because we were so far back (General Admission, and lined up south across the river Bridge so it took forever to get in) we didn't hear much of them, but they were OK.

  • loved david cook show!!!!

The David cook concert was great. It was a small venue and was nice because you were up close to see him.

  • David Cook is totally awesome!!!!!

David Cook rocked the House of Blues in Chicago! I was in the front row, and he is more yummy close-up in person even than in his pictures!!!!

  • Cook is hot

WISH IT WAS LONGER VENUE WAS WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY TOOOO CROWDED BUT - COOK WAS HOT

  • David Cook was something unexpected

by Fd0425 on 7/13/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

The concert was good. However, when it came to songs he sang on american idol the show that helped him get out there. There wasnt much that was familiar probably to the american idol fans. He sang songs mostly outside from american idol and there was a side of him that probably most fans have not seen. But really over all i give it a 3. David cook is a person who i see as a person who should have a concert with seats insead of standing to avoid much trouble. Lastly, parking is very annoying and theres only two machings for like 500? People.Again over all a 3

  • David Cook is great live!

by ChitownGirl on 7/13/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

You may have liked him on American Idol or on the radio, but he's really much better live. His band is extremely talented and he gives off a very down-to-earth, likeable vibe. House of Blues is also a great venue!

  • David Cook is amazingly tanlented

by amyleeboo on 7/12/09House of Blues New Orleans - New OrleansRating: 5 out of 5

David Cook is absolutely amazing. He is extremely talented. I don't know which he does better, sing, play guitar, or simply entertain. He acts a little shy, likes he needs the crowd, then he pulls you in. The band is also a pleasure to hear. I saw this tour at the House of Blues in New Orleans. My first experience there. I would go again in a heart beat. It was standing room only and we stood for over five hours from waiting in line and then the performance, but it was amazing and time flew by. I would absolutly want to see David Cook again. I'm glad we got to see him in small casual place before he hits super super star statis because we know he is going to soon.
