  • David Archuleta was amazing!!!!

by cathyrm on 11/25/09Abravanel Hall - Salt Lake CityRating: 5 out of 5

David Archuleta's concert in Salt Lake City, Utah was amazing! He started out with "Waiting For Yesterday", then "A Little To Not Over You", "Crush" and ended with "Zero Gravity". He had the entire audience up and dancing to "Zero Gravity", even the older people that were there. My 12 year old niece, my sister and I (we are both in our 40's) were dancing and jumping up and down with the rest of the crowd. David then sang "Fields of Gold" with just his guitar player. It was so beautiful! Then he sang a song called "Prayer of the Children" with his piano player Kendra. I had goosebumps on my arms. The set changed with a small symphony orchestra setting up on stage. There was several violin players, an obo player and the band all came out. When they opened the curtains there was a Christmas background with the symphony sitting in front of it. The mood of the night changed as David began to sing songs from his beautiful Christmas cd. His vocals were spot on and the band and symphony played beautiful background music for him. The lst song he sang in this set was "Melodies of Christmas", which he co-wrote. It had a pop feel to it and was very joyous and upbeat. I don't remember the exact order of the songs but somewhere along the way he sang "Ave Maria" with a children's choir. Kurt Bestor played the piano during this song and it was magnificent. David also sang 2 of my favorite songs from the cd "Pat A Pan" (parts were sung in French) and "Riu Riu Chiu" (sung in Spanish). He did such a beautiful job on these two songs. My sister's favorite songs was "What Child Is This" and his voice was amazing during this song. David and his mother (Lupe) sang "Have Yourself A Merry Little" Christmas together. This is a song he sang with Charice Pempengco on the cd. They did a nice job on this song. Other songs that David sang were "The First Noel" (another favorite on mine) and "Silent Night". David sang for an 1 1/2 hours total. After a standing ovation, he came back and sang "O Holy Night" with the band & symphony and it brought down the house. David's vocal abilities really shined in his Christmas song set. His vocals were clear, warm and soared throughout the room. I alternated between tears and goosebumps as he sang these beautiful songs.

  • Archuleta was incredible!

by LovesArchuleta on 11/25/09Abravanel Hall - Salt Lake CityRating: 5 out of 5

This young man has a huge presence and spirit to match! He gives his whole heart to his performance and you never see any arrogance or self adulation. He is very humble and grateful for the opportunity to sing to us and for our support of him and his causes. His voice is beautiful and it is easy to listen to him. He is just so much fun too. I would definitely see him again and recommend him to others. All ages can go and be a part of his performances. That is becoming more unique these days. I hope he never changes who he is and what he believes in. It shows in everything he does and that is a big plus! It will truly make him 'unforgettable'!

  • David was incredible......and then some.....

by Leed on 11/25/09Abravanel Hall - Salt Lake CityRating: 5 out of 5

His voice gives you both chills and tears. His song selections were beautiful and the number with him and his mom was amazing. She can really sing. The only thing I would recommend is a shorter time frame between his opening act and his going on. I wish I could go again tonight. You Go David!!!! Your voice is a One and Only! Why hasn't David Foster contacted you yet?

My daughter and I attended David Archuleta's Christmas concert last night at Abravanel Hall in SLC. This was the 4th concert we've been to for David and every time I'm amazed at what a beautiful clear voice he has and how confident but yet humble he is. It was like getting 2 concerts for the price of one; first performing some of his popular hits along with some I hadn't heard him sing before, then the Christmas part of the show. His voice filled the entire hall with beautiful melodies of Christmas. It is easy to tell he truly loves the music and enjoys performing the meaningful messages about the true Christmas spirit. It was the best concert I've been to. Enjoy it for yourself tonight.

  • David Archuleta is a treasure

by BellaLunaLovesMusic on 11/25/09Abravanel Hall - Salt Lake CityRating: 5 out of 5

I was stunned by the talent of this 18-year-old. He is definitely doing what he was born to do. This show was one of the best, if not the best, shows I've ever seen. David's voice is beyond beautiful. His interpretation of a song is masterful. I'm kind of at a loss for words to discribe this amazing talent. It was a night I didn't want to end.

  • Best concert ever!

by Cindermely on 11/25/09Abravanel Hall - Salt Lake CityRating: 5 out of 5

I have been to many concerts in my day, but none that meant as much to me as this one. David Archuleta is so real, listening to him talk before each number was just heartwarming. His voice so smooth, it about moved me to tears many times. I cannot put into words the feeling that was there when he would sing. I love Christmas, and all the feelings I have about Christ and his birth mean a lot to me, and to have David share in how I feel in song with is melodic voice, just spoke to my heart and soul! David sang a duet with his Mom. They sang "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas." It did bring tears to my eyes, seeing them together on stage was so touching. She got choked up at the end, which was the sweetest thing ever. I'll be forever glad I was in that audience! You can tell David loves his Mom, and that she loves him. Touching. Beautiful.

  • david was great

by christmasconcertgoer on 11/25/09Abravanel Hall - Salt Lake CityRating: 4 out of 5

David was great. The set was horrible. TOO much going on for the eye. The huge ornaments hanging down, the Christmas trees, the "metal fence" across the stage, the orchestra jammed onto the stage, the piano, drums, guitars, all the lighting equipment,(and the lights coming on and off and color changes that didn't sinc with the music), just a jumble of things going on that distracted from David and his beautiful voice. Someone should seriously take a look at the stage from the audience perspective...really. The coordination of the lighting to the musical number needs to be worked on - I mean, during silent night - the trees were all of a sudden hot red and electric blue...not very good colors with such a serene song. And get rid of the "fence" line - that was horrible. Get a good set designer - that is my advice. The music was great and he did a fabulous job...but less visual distractions would have been much better.

  • David was amazing

by Djulm on 11/25/09Abravanel Hall - Salt Lake CityRating: 5 out of 5

He sings like an angel. He started the concert with some of the songs on his 1st. CD and switched to Christmas songs for about half the concert. There were 5 of us ages 8-60 and we loved him. His Ave Maria brought tears to my eyes. Wonderful concert and the only thing that could have been better was to meet him in person. Great way to start the holidays.

  • This kid is absolutely amazing

by Jo5573 on 11/25/09Abravanel Hall - Salt Lake CityRating: 5 out of 5

David is a little boy with a huge voice. He will be known as having a unique voice such as those as Nat King Cole, Barbra Streisand, and Celine Dion. His energy is captivating. I have to admit with wanting David Cook to win American Idol, I will probably buy more of this David's CD's.

  • 9th Wonder of the World!

by Anonymous on 11/25/09Abravanel Hall - Salt Lake CityRating: 5 out of 5

David was AMAZING! The concert was a nice blend of remixed songs from his first album, a couple of new songs that hopefully will be on the next album, and then a smooth transition into the Christmas portion of the play. The opening act (Benton Paul) is pretty good, altho his CD is better than his concert in person. He tends to sing too closely to the mic and you can't understand a word he is saying at concert. When David comes out tho, get ready to party! David rocks the house in only the energetic, fun, innocent way that David can. The All Access VIP portion of the event (the pre-show) was rushed and seemingly disorganized though they were very friendly. As this was the first concert of the tour I'll cut them some slack and hope they get the bugs worked out ... Overall I would recommend this event to a friend, family member, or complete stranger. A+++!

WOW! I am sitting here at a loss of words. He absolutely radiates the Christmas spirit as he sings from his heart, and you can't help but feel it too. The concert was a mix of Pop and Christmas and so well done. I wish I could experience it over and over.

  • David's Concert was Indescribable

by Pattirae on 11/25/09Abravanel Hall - Salt Lake CityRating: 5 out of 5

I have been going to concerts (music is my favorite passion) for 4 decades now (yes, I am in my sixties) and I can honestly say that I have never experienced before what I experienced last night at the David Archuleta concert at Abravanal Hall. David's voice is a once in a life time experience. You could use words like amazing, incredible, heavenly, awesome, and many more like it, but you could never find a word to adequately describe his talent. There were so many times I found myself weeping and can't even put words to the joy in my heart at the experience. I guess I could go on and on but just know this-----I have never experienced anything to equal last night's performance. David is the ultimate singer/performer. I wish him continued success and happiness.
