About

DAVE KOZ IN CONCERT:

When Dave Koz takes the stage, all is quiet as the audience intently listens to every pure note from the seasoned saxophonist. Playing both tenor and alto sax, his fingers glide across the instrument with an ease that can't be matched. Whether he's performing chart-topping hits like "Life In the Fast Lane" and "Put the Top Down" or launching into an epic solo, Koz's grace on the woodwind instrument is exceptional, full of trills, thrills, and spontaneity during his hit-filled set lists. Dave Koz returns to the stage in 2014 for his upcoming Summer Horns tour as well as a string of highly anticipated shows with Barry Manilow.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Starting out in his high school's jazz band, Dave Koz fell in love with the saxophone early on, deciding to pursue music full time after graduating from college. He landed on tour with Bobby Caldwell not long after and served as a studio musician in the '80s before launching his breakout solo career. Since then, Koz has released 15 studio albums — eight of which have reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Jazz chart — and four No. 1 jazz singles. Not only is the nine-time Grammy nominee a sensational saxophonist, but he's also a radio personality, television host, and philanthropist, serving as a Global Ambassador for the Starlight Children's Foundation. Koz will delight fans with his smooth jazz sounds on his upcoming tour dates.

Dave Koz always puts on a great show. I love his Summer Horns tour and also his cruises.

  • Totally amazing!

by Nickie on 8/31/25Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve always enjoyed listening to Dave Koz, but had never had the pleasure of seeing him live. It was an electric concert from the beginning. All the other horn players that accompanied him, were just as amazing! I am definitely going to see him again when he plays in Northern Virginia.

  • Unbelievable

Just witnessed one of the best performances ever! Dave Koz and the horns section really put it down at the Smith Center in Las Vegas. I look forward to seeing them again when they come to town!!!

  • Venue Very Outdated

by Very Disappointed on 8/30/25Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 1 out of 5

First, let me say that Dave Koz is an incredible musician. However, this time I chose not to stay for his performance. I’ve been a loyal supporter of The Birchmere for nearly 20 years, but my recent experience left me disappointed. Over the years, I’ve arrived earlier and earlier to secure decent seating. Perhaps it’s time to consider moving to an assigned seating model, where customers can pay for specific seats. When I arrived 85 minutes before showtime, the parking lot was already full, and seating was scarce. After struggling to find an acceptable spot—and noticing an unpleasant odor in the venue—I decided to leave and dine elsewhere instead. It’s clear the venue is in need of a major overhaul. In recent years, I’ve noticed a steady decline in the overall conditions—from parking and seating to food and restrooms. It makes me wonder what the artists’ dressing rooms must look like. While I appreciate that The Birchmere is conveniently located near my home, I’d rather travel farther to enjoy a performance at a venue that invests in the customer experience. If improvements aren’t made, both loyal patrons and talented musicians may begin looking elsewhere. I’d strongly encourage The Birchmere to conduct a customer experience survey to hear directly from long-time supporters like myself. It could make a world of difference in restoring the venue’s reputation and ensuring future success.

  • An Incredible Performance

This was, without a doubt, one of the most enjoyable evenings ever. Dave is magnificent, but being paired with Summer Horns made the experience indescribable. Don’t miss that.

The concert was amazing! Not a dull moment. The venue was great too! It was a small venue and gave me a more intimate experience with musicians!

  • 1st time visitor. Loved the venue.

by Wally on 8/14/25The Factory - Saint LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Seating was terrific. Seats just tall (high) enough that the view of the stage was open regardless of the height of the person in front of you. Didn’t quite get the $29 add on for parking via Ticketmaster.
