Damien Escobar on Tour

World-renowned violinist, author and philanthropist Damien Escobar brings a lifetime of musical talent to the stage in 2022 on his Life Out Loud Tour. He's dazzled audiences worldwide, starting at age 8 as a student at The Julliard School, then as a street musician in New York's Grand Central Station and other locales, all the way to his performance at the inauguration of former President Barack Obama. And now, fans can snag tickets to see this two-time Emmy Award winner and violin virtuoso play his signature blend of jazz, R&B, hip-hop, and classical at venues across the United States.

Damien Escobar Live in Concert

Born in the Jamaica, Queens, neighborhood in New York City in 1986, Damien Escobar was destined for a life in music from a tender age. He began playing violin at the age of 8 and showed unparalleled talent as a young musician. By age 10, he began taking weekend classes at The Julliard School as the youngest student ever to be accepted. His brother, Tourie Escobar, was similarly gifted, and the two later studied together at the Bloomingdale School of Music in Manhattan. Around 2003, the two brothers started Nuttin' But Strings and excited audiences by blending classical violin with jazz, R&B and hip-hop. Damien and Tourie gained fame playing in New York hotspots like Grand Central Station and later won a talent night at the Apollo Theater in 2005. The brothers gained momentum as they landed a White House performance for George W. Bush, made it to No. 3 on America's Got Talent in 2008 and later performed at the inauguration of former President Barack Obama in 2009. By 2012, Damien had stopped performing with his brother and earned his real estate license. However, it wasn't long before music called to him again, and Damien finally made his solo debut in 2012. According to Damien, "It all needed to fall apart so I could be forced to grow while putting it back together the right way." And he did put it together the right way because Damien went on to release his first solo album, Sensual Melodies, in 2014, followed by Awaken in 2015, Boundless in 2017, and Songs from a Breakthrough in 2020.

    Absolutely amazing and exhillirating experience

by BrownRob on 5/23/16Center Stage Theater - Atlanta

I was exposed to Damien Escobar a few months ago. I was scrolling through my Facebook news feed and just happened to click on one of his videos. I thought he was amazing. So when I saw one of his tour cities was ATL, I decided it was worth the 4 hour drive from Florida to see this man play the violin. But when I tell you his show blew my mind, I mean anything you view on YouTube or his social media pages is amazing, but there is another dimension. I witnessed that dimension and it was an exhilarating experience. Whether or not you like the violin or instrumental music, it does not matter. His concert speaks to the heart and soul....a definite must see and experience concert...

Aside from a late start, (which was the reason for 4 out of a possible 5 stars) Damien was excellent. His story and his music were awesome. I would recommend seeing him and getting his upcoming CD.

    Great performance

by each1teach1 on 5/21/16Halloran Centre at the Orpheum Theatre Memphis - Memphis

Damien was amazing. His God given talent blew me away and he had a way of interacting with the audience that made him even more appealing. The only complaint I had was that the show was supposed to start at 7 and he didn't take the stage until 8:20. Yes there was a comedian that did a 10 minute set (around 7:30) but that was a lot of wasted time especially in the middle of the week. Poor planning on the promoters part.

Damien Escobar played his heart out.

by NurseCobb on 5/21/16Halloran Centre at the Orpheum Theatre Memphis - Memphis

I really enjoyed the Damien Escobar concert at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, TN. The venue was the perfect, quaint atmosphere. Hearing Damien's journey and testimony made me appreciate him even more. It was so nice to see him giving back when he gifted a young violinist with a violin. Damien Escobar put on one heck of a performance. He made sure we enjoyed each and every note he played. His band members are also very talented. I look forward to seeing him in concert again.

Damien Escobar is an amazing talent!

by Asunbeam on 5/21/16Halloran Centre at the Orpheum Theatre Memphis - Memphis

My very first visit to the Halloran Center to enjoy a brilliant artist who is cut from a different cloth. I enjoyed his performance and also the comedian who opened the show. I love the intimate setting of the venue. Damien did not disappoint. And I liked that he performed a snippet of classical to show the naysayers that he is indeed classically trained and still proficient in that genre as well. Great evening!

    by Rita85 on 5/11/16Howard Theatre - Washington

I loved everything about this event. Damien Escobar is a very talented and entertaining performer. He was so good, he broke his violin in the middle of the concert. He sat onstage and talked to the audience while he repaired and tuned it. The band was exceptional! Great show.

    Damien Escobar was awesome!!

by Theolyn on 5/11/16Howard Theatre - Washington

Mr. Escobar entertained and engaged the audience and he did not disappoint. His performance and the band was excellent. At first the band started playing then he came out with his violin but the sound of the band instruments was drowning out the violin and I was worried but a short while in the situation was remedied. Did not like the timing though. The show was to start at 8pm, but the opening act, a saxophonist who was good started at 8:30. Our waitress, Ray, did a great job but the kitchen timing was terrible. We had very long wait times for starts and entrees.

    Who'd think!!

by PiaDora on 5/11/16Howard Theatre - Washington

Who'd think that a violin could be so exciting. We generally equate violin music with classic, stuffy, nose in the air type of settings. This is not true. Damien has succeeded in opening violin music to a whole new generation by showing us that a violin can play any type of music - from classic to contemporary. He certainly had a wonderful collection of music and he also entertained and engaged the crowds by having a personal conversation with them. He did one classical piece and many contemporary pieces - songs that most folks would recognize. I enjoyed a solid 1-1/2 hours of playing, which was about the right amount. The addition of a live band is a great idea. I hope he brings more 'acts' into his program. I would love to see some violin and other instrumental collaboration.

Damien Escobar, the "Beast" on a Violin

by Biddyman on 5/11/16Howard Theatre - Washington

The show was magnificent! Even though the wait in line was extended for about 10 minutes, once inside, the sound engineer was the BEST I've ever heard. Every note was with perfection, whether speaking or the strings. The food was delicious too! I'll be a returning customer who doesn't mind the 40 mile drive from Baltimore....SUPER EVENT!!!

    Amazing but a bit ....

by Sindari on 5/11/16Howard Theatre - Washington

Damien was AMAZING. Opening sax guy was very talented and a good warm up. Damien and his crew were well synched and polished. He was very real (even when he broke his violin we just rolled with it). Great show for the cost. Cons: too loud. Volume would have been better suited to a Linkin Park concert. Support instruments overpowered the violin sometimes which was sad. Didn't come to hear bass (even though he rocked!) I came to hear the Crooner. LATE start. Supposed to start at 8, opening act didn't start until after 8:30, then another 20 min of the MC/DJ THEN Damien. Its a Sunday, had to leave before the end sadly.
