I cried 20 years ago. I cried yesterday.

    by O. M. on 12/15/22Bluma Appel Theatre - Toronto

We were there 20 years ago. loved it. The play gave us everything. We laughed, we cried, and we held our breath and, then we clapped and clapped in appreciation. Yesterday's performance was no disappointment either. The cast was superb, and we loved it just as much this time as we did the first time. Great show, go to be entertained but you will also leave the theatre thinking about life.

    Amazing

by Nicky on 12/13/22Bluma Appel Theatre - Toronto

I saw The Kink years ago and the performances were great then. This time around they levelled up and did an even better job! The messages were heartfelt and resonated with a lot of people. It showed how as black women we carry a lot of our burden with a smile. But it’s important that we show our sisters that we don’t always have to be that strong black woman, we should and could release and let others help support us. Like many women, of different ethnicities, we carry our issues in our tissues, but for black women, it’s in our roots, it’s in our hair.

    Fantastic!

by Mamasita on 12/11/22Bluma Appel Theatre - Toronto

Exceeded expectations! This show will make you laugh, tear up and want to sing along. Strong performances from the whole cast. Despite being 20+ years old, the subject matter still resonates and crosses cultural boundaries. Slight downside was that it was sometimes hard to understand the smattering of patois dialogue. Go out to see this show!

    Outstanding Play

by JRFP on 9/16/13Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

This is one of the best plays I have seen in a very long time. The story line was fit for all ages and it had a true message. It made me laugh and cry. But best of all it created conversation about things that are happening in the world today. Outstanding Play. Hats off to Trey Anthony and her cast.

    Great Show!

by MissHipHop619 on 9/11/13Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

This was an excellent show! Covered a lot issues that Black women and all women deal with in life. It was a good cultural experience. Reminded me of my childhood when my mom would take me to similar shows to learn about my people and my self. I hope that the show will be able to travel to many cities, I know plenty of women that would really enjoy it.
