New Bag Policy is Subjective and Inconsistent
by Tara on 10/4/21The Echo - Los AngelesI want to start off by saying that Loony was fantastic. This review has nothing to do with her performance or the show's quality. This review is specifically regarding LiveNation's new bag policy, which prohibits bags that are not clear/see-through to be larger than 4.5"x6.5" (or, as the security guard at The Echo put it, "the size of my hand"). I came to this show with a small purse that I had brought to a LiveNation event at The Hollywood Palladium the week prior - while I was allowed into the Palladium, The Echo refused to allow entry. I had taken an Uber to the show and purchased two tickets for my friend and I, so neither of us could run to our cars to stow the bag without having to pay for two more Ubers and inevitably miss part of the set. When I spoke to the manager, she told me that it was up to each individual security guard to determine what bags were allowed and which weren't. As she's saying this, two girls with Fendi purses the EXACT same size as mine walked out of the venue. When I pointed that out, she shrugged and said, "maybe the security guard was on a break." Um, what? How are consumers supposed to plan accordingly for such a policy if it is left to such subjective enforcement? I was disappointed by the lack of tact, respectfulness, and understanding toward a frequent concert goer who was eager to get back to live music. You would think that LiveNation would be doing their best to retain customers after nearly 1.5 years of revenue loss for a show that was most certainly not sold out. I'll definitely be thinking twice before returning to The Echo or any LiveNation venue again.
