Hailing from Inglewood, California, two-time GRAMMY-nominated artist, philanthropist, and entrepreneur, D Smoke, released his unapologetic sophomore offering War & Wonders on September 24, 2021.
The 16-track album opens with âWar & Wondersâ as Smoke begins his journey foreshadowing an upcoming battle featuring impassioned flows and rhymes describing the violent challenges of urban living. The track opens with a storyline of Smoke getting knocked down from his ongoing battles and a woman calling his name to wake up. The narrative then progresses with latest singles âShame On Youâ and âCommon Senseâ featuring SiR commenting on humanityâs unique simplicity and embracing our differences. At the core of the album, âStay Trueâ featuring John Legend accentuates the meaning of living your best life by staying true to your authentic self regardless of what life throws your way and the hardships you may face. Then âGood Thingâ featuring Ty Dolla $ign offers an upbeat, positive track bringing light to companionship and finding joy in life through many avenues. Smoke wraps the project with rhythmic, jazz infused âFree Writeâ reflecting on the crusade of each track leading to the end of his battles, and bringing awareness to the grieving of his city from politics to systemic racism and his influence on making the situation better for future generations. War & Wonders spotlights poignant themes, necessary social commentary, and the hurdles we overcome in order to appreciate what we have in this life. For Smoke, he showcases Inglewoodâs war on losing love, being in love, and battling himself as he is always being led in different directions. It is a continuous journey of learning, growing, self-discovery, and reinventing a better version of himself.
Smoke gained global notoriety in 2019 as champion and undisputed breakout star of Netflixâs Rhythm + Flow. Smoke showcased himself as a raw lyricist, classically trained musician, and cultural activist with âsomething to sayâ. On February 7, 2020, he released his debut full-length album, Black Habits, boasting features Snoop Dogg, Jill Scott, Ari Lennox, his brothers SiR and Davion Farris, and mother, Jackie GouchĂ©. The albumâs critical acclaim earned a 2021 GRAMMY-nomination for Best Rap Album, and his ability to enter into the public consciousness in an impactful way earned him a second 2021 GRAMMY-nomination, Best New Artist. On the evening of the tragic and senseless murder of George Floyd, D Smoke joined forces with younger brother SiR to create âLet Goâ, which sees the Farris brothers speaking loudly on police brutality, racism, and the pain that the oppressed have to endure as a result. While navigating the Summer of 2020, D Smoke also pulled inspiration from a long lineage of family matriarchs, releasing âRaptureâ, with a surreptitiously tender homage to the realities of existing as a Black woman in a world that often conflates a womanâs tolerance for suffering as a signaler of love. In the same week, D Smoke received a NAACP Image Award Nomination for Outstanding New Artist. He is such a creative and talented individual! I am amazed by his ability to rap in Spanish and English, play instruments like the piano while still remaining humble. He is a true essence of an artist. I hope to see him become more successful because he deserves every accolade there is to get.

D Smoke and Domani was a vibe! I was star struck while taking pictures they entire time! I really enjoyed myself for this to be my first adult concert.
They lyrics the vibes, the dance moves , the swagg is was all on a million. What an pleasant Monday Surprise to have got to see D Smoke perform. His openers were pretty good too, especially the lady from DC. Iâve been listening to his Inglewood High album since the concert. Fire.
My fiancé surprised me with tickets on Christmas and I was so excited. But I am from Long Beach, CA and Dsmoke happens to be one of my favorite artists. So long story short I had a blast and it was definitely a night I will always remember.
Great Performance by D Smoke, both additional artists and guest artist he pulled up. Venue was perfect choice, good updates for Covid safety precautions. Hope he comes back!
Been following D Smoke since Rhythm & Flow. This conscious rapper always leaves me desiring to hear more of his music as his messages resonate with me. My 30-year-old daughter and I got there early and landed a front row spot. When my daughter left her spot to use the restroom, two girls stepped up and refused to give her spot back when she returned. I'll leave the details out, but it could have gotten ugly. With D Smoke about to hit the stage, my daughter and I decided to turn our attention to him instead and just enjoy the experience. I was kicking myself that I didn't spend the extra money for the meet 'n greet. Will DEFINITELY do that next time if I'm given the opportunity. I've been to my share of concerts, but never have I felt so fortunate to be at a concert as I did Friday night at The Shelter. D Smoke took requests, spoke to the 13-year-old boy next to me, talked about his experiences growing up, shared his wife and cousin's talents, and overall just gave a heartfelt performance. It was an intimate setting and I'd like to thank all involved in making my night so special. Fan for life!
The concert was phenomenal, the crowd interaction was on point. The concert flowed smoothly from start to finish. The artists who performed were on point. I enjoyed how Smoke had his family and close friends perform. I look forward to attending his next concert.
The D Smoke and Domani concert was a absolute vibe. They are 2 of my favorite rappers right now and I was extra excited they went on tour together. Just to think, this is just the beginning for them! They did great. They even played off technical difficulties off so well nobody noticed.
This concert was rescheduled from Dec 2021 to Feb 2022 and it was worth the wait. The music was great and so were the performances! Domani opened the show with hits from his debut album Skydiving. There was a 15min intermission and then D. Smoke hit the stage. He rapped his classic songs and showed his bilingual skills by also rapping in both English and Spanish. He brought out singer Sir who also happens to be his brother. Domani return to the stage to perform their joint song âI Know Itâs Realâ. Just when you thought all the surprises were over rapper T.I. made an appearance! Performing his song âStand Upâ and sing with his son Domani.
