D'Angelo brought the house down....plain and simple. I was so happy and feel fortunate to have the opportunity to witness his return after a long absence.

Rating: 5 out of 5 D'Angelo was legendary!!
by Anonymous on 5/30/13House of Blues Boston - BostonI dont normally take the time to review an event but this was hands down the best concert I have ever been too. D'Angelo is incredible. A true artist and his performance was unforgetable. His band was also full of so much talent and didn't lose energy once throughout the show. I would see him in concert a million times over!

by Alexei on 5/30/13House of Blues - Bostonahh! Just saw D'Angelo at Boston's House of Blues. It was all I expected and more--he is certainly on top of his game. Stevie, James Brown and Prince have a proud torch bearer. And looks like he's in it for the long haul this time around. I could have lived without Brown Sugar & Lady -- those actually felt a bit dated. But all the Voodoo material, recorded more than 13 yrs ago now, sounds as current as current gets. And it probably still will a decade from now. D dipped into something otherworldly making that record and it definitely came through at the show. All the new songs are great as well, with one exception (Charade - sounds flat, no matter how hard the band tried to spice it up). "Really Love" is magic, though might have been better with just keys and drums, the way D & Questlove did it at the Brooklyn Bowl show. Same for Spanish Joint. D did not do an acoustic medley the way he had done in Europe last year. That was a let down. And he could have done more songs from Voodoo. He should have done every song from Voodoo for that matter. Alas ... he can only do but so much in one show. And to close out, Sugar Daddy is instant classic!
