Last night we went to the CCR show at the House of Blues in Las Vegas. On our way in we stopped off at the merch table to hand off our USB bracelet so we could get a copy of the show. Selling sound board recordings of the show for $15 is such a brilliant idea. I'm a little surprised more bands aren't doing this.
Wade Bowen opened the show playing an hour long set which was surprising since the show didn't start until 9. Normally the HOB likes to kick people out of the place by 11:30, so I was expecting a shorter set by Wade. I'm not too familiar with his music, but will definitely be adding some to my iPod soon!
CCR took the stage around 10:30. I was expecting the HOB to fill up a bit more than it did by the time they went on. The didn't even open the balcony, instead they had black curtains drawn around the entire top part of the club. Don't get me wrong, I was happy to have the floor space available and not be packed in like sardines, but, I'd also rather they were selling more tickets to make sure that Vegas remains a stop on their tours.
The show was excellent. We've seen CCR at several venues here in Vegas, in Utah and Idaho, and there is definitely no better place to see CCR play. The sound quality in that place is second to none. So take an already great sounding band and put them in that venue and you basically have a "Can't Miss" scenario.
During the show Cody mentioned that they won't be doing the cruise again for a while and instead will be doing some sort of "Destination Vegas" thing. He didn't say much about it, but holy crap is that exciting! So it sounds like we'll be seeing a bunch of you here in our town next year!
Looking forward to the next CCR show! Cheers!
