    Courtney - Focused and Intense

by CherryGarrard on 7/23/13Sound Board at MotorCity Casino Hotel - Detroit

Been a fan for years, but this was the first time I've seen her. She's up there with Patti Smith for channeling raw emotion. Like early Patti, she's not overly concerned with singing on key, but it doesn't matter, with her charisma, great songs, and a great band. Her voice, however, is definitely not what it used to be. Purists will complain, but that isn't what rock is about. She put on an electrifying show. And she was sober! Focused and professional, she engaged the audience well. Definitely a treat. The opening act, Starred, was actually decent. Definitely a droning, shoegazing kind of music, but well-done and I got into it. And the lead singer did not seem overly spaced out, as reported in other reviews.

    AWESOME SHOW!!!

by Melnton on 7/22/13House of Blues Chicago - Chicago

It has been 18 years since I saw Hole perform. Courtney was awesome tonight, playing her a nice mix of her old Hole songs along with her new stuff. The House of Blues was a great venue, with an intimate feeling. Can't wait to see her again, the show was worth EVERY PENNY!!!

    Courtney Love still has it!

by Anne3268 on 7/22/13Sound Board at MotorCity Casino Hotel - Detroit

I went to the show not knowing what to expect. Everyone knows of Courtney's drug problems, and I wasn't sure if she had sobered up in the past few years. Well, it looks like she has, because she was at the top of her game! She looked great, and sang until the people in charge at the Sound Board cut her off. She interacted with fans and even sang Doll Parts at the end. My only complaint would be the opening act "Starred". They were so awful people were walking out. They couldn't even work their equipment correctly! The lead singer was so high she could barely stand and kept sitting/crouching on stage. What the hell was Courtney thinking??!? The show would have been much better if she brought only what people had come to see. Herself!

    Enjoyed the show

by JenRy11 on 7/22/13Sound Board at MotorCity Casino Hotel - Detroit

Courtney looked great and vocals were strong. Engaged audience, bringing quite a few people up onto the stage to sit for a couple songs. She sang the songs we all wanted to hear and her band was great. Lots of energy and more than I expected. Would see her again and Sound Board venue had excellent sound quality.

    Rock is not dead!

by Julabelge on 7/22/13Sound Board at MotorCity Casino Hotel - Detroit

Courtney Love rocked the stage last Friday with mostly oldies from "Live through this", and "Celebrity Skin". She is still a true rock star, and her relationship with the audience was amazing. She kept on talking to people, and grabbed one guy on stage, followed by 20 other people who were lucky enough to see the a few songs, sitting in front of the drums!

    Courtney rocked!

by Tinyanko on 7/11/13Stone Pony Summer Stage - Asbury Park

Courtney was in perfect girl power punk tune! She sang all her own great songs just like it was live studio. And the audience was sooo appreciative after not getting to see her for such a long time. A high gear loud goddam show with participation and blast had by all. I wish I could've seen her after the show to thank her for coming out Please come around again soon Courtney! Didn't forget she had a great band with her - really a powerful mix - a complete cast .

Courtney Love was amazing! Played all the songs you'd want to hear, esp from Live Through This. She threw roses into the audience and even acknowledged that the crowd was small, but passionate.

    Courtney Lite

    by Lydia58 on 7/1/13The Paramount - Huntington

I love Courtney Love. I think she is the only woman rocker out there, maybe even the only rocker period. Her song-writing talent is unmatched. She seems sober, a little older and a little more mellow. Which is probably a good thing for her. Her octave-jumping scream (like her ex-husband's) is not always there. That's a hard vocal technique to maintain over the years. I've seen her before and she was not as severe as in her younger days. I would have liked to have heard a few songs from "Pretty on the Inside." Would love to hear: Rock Star, Sunset Strip, All the Drugs in the World, Goodsister/badsister, Teenage Whore, Drown Soda. God, I'd like to hear her do every song she ever wrote.

Great concert; Courtney interacted a lot with the fans but there was an exorbitant amount of opening acts who weren't very good.

    Courtney is back!

by Firiskycat on 6/29/13Stone Pony - Asbury park

Part hot mess, part genius. She is who she is. That's what people love and hate about her. She was coherent, funny, only 30 min late and very accommodating to her fans. Her band (who is that drummer? Awesome ) backed her up well. Starred ruined the night. Terrible.
