About

COURTNEY BARNETT IN CONCERT:

Australian alt-rock up-and-comer Courtney Barnett is quickly making a name for herself with her witty lyrics and deadpan vocal delivery. Fans of clever wordplay and surprising lyrical juxtaposition will find much to love in jangly gems like "Avant Gardener" and "History Eraser", and Barnett's performance style -- a mixture of shambling ease and surprising precision -- perfectly complements the complex personality she reveals through her music. Barnett is still a relative newcomer, but she's already generated significant excitement for future tour dates with pitch-perfect performances at  showcases around the world.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Melbourne, Barnett attended the Tasmanian School of Art before returning to her hometown to pursue music full-time. After a stint playing with The Dandy Warhol's Brent DeBoer in a band called Union, she made her EP debut in 2012 with I've Got a Friend Called Ferris. She quickly followed up with her full-length debut album How to Carve a Carrot into a Rose, garnering a Best New Music nod from Pitchfork and hitting the road for extensive touring. In late 2013 she caught the eye of Rolling Stone and The New York Times with her performances at the CMJ Music Marathon, with both outlets naming her one of the festival's standout acts. A bright young talent with a diamond-sharp wit, Barnett has fans eagerly awaiting her next tour dates.

    Girl crush

by AuntAmy on 7/6/19Madison Theater - Covington

Second time seeing Courtney and she did not disappoint. So cool; she can shred and wail. I love Madison Theater. You can go upstairs and sit down if that is your thing or go down by the stage and mix it up with the young folk.

    Courtney ROCKS!!!

by Steve S Rocks on 7/5/19Madison Theater - Covington

Road trip from Detroit to the Madison Theater was more than worth every mile for this concert by Courtney! Such an amazing artist and performer. Played a sweet set list of tunes and we even got treated to a special guest appearance by Kim & Kelley Deal from The Breeders to do backing vocals on two songs during the encore! Thanks for rocking me Courtney!!!

First time seeing Courtney as the headliner and she was amazing! Fantastic show! I have seen her 3 other times, including at the Red Rocks, Co, and this was, hands down, the best show I have seen in awhile.

    Courtney 2020

    by Anemicroyalty1986 on 7/4/19Madison Theater - Covington

Courtney is amazing. Her voice was surprisingly perfect. Thus was the best female guitarist I have ever seen live. Better than the album. The venue was a bit cramped and in a shady area. Beers were cheaper than most.

I think she needs a new sound and light engineer..half the time they were blinding the audience with the lighting. Also the amp sound was WAY off.. she sounded great though

Courtney Barnett put on an awesome show at the Par

by Anonymous on 10/15/18Paramount Theatre - Seattle

I am a 48 year old male who is totally new to the music of Courtney Barnett and really really enjoy her show. What an amazing and talented artist / band. I really respected her guitar playing a lot in the way that she switched between Rhythm and Lead very seamlessly while singing. I would recommend anyone who enjoys rock music to go check her out.

    Excellent Courtney Barnett Show

by Clawperson on 10/12/18Paramount Theatre - Seattle

This was my sixth Courtney Barnett concert. Her catalogue continues to grow and the venues, sound, and lighting get more and more elaborate. What doesn’t change is the fun, energetic performances. It’s so much fun to see her in concert and I’ll go anytime she comes near. Have to say that I especially enjoyed the syncronized lighting at the Paramount Seattle show.

Courtney Barnett has a crazy range, from Indie folk to metal. Katie Crutchfield is an incredible live artist as usual.

    Covers her catalogue.

by NicknameReviewNickname on 10/11/18Paramount Theatre - Seattle

If you like her music then you will like her live. Her setlist doesn’t very from night to night on this 2018 tour. However, the vocal performance accompanied by the instruments makes for a well rounded show. Some on stage banter with the audience makes it come off a bit more personal and you will walk away having gotten your money’s worth.

Wow we were blown away by Courtney Barnett! Her show had amazing stage and lighting design, energy, angst and honesty. She sounded great and gave us something new with her hit songs. Her cover of Gillian Welch’s Everything is Free was incredible - constant chills. Can’t wait to see her again!

    Courtney is back and great!

by Kenmoto on 7/31/18State Theatre - Portland

Courtney with her original band plus 1. Kurt is gone. Band is a tad more polished but still raw when needed. She spent money on staging since I first saw her. The blonde guitarist is a great addition and doubles on keyboard. It's SO good to have Courtney back.WITHOUT KURT.

    Courtney Barnett simply rocks

by MowD on 7/30/18State Theatre - Portland

The Maine State Theater is the perfect place to see a band like this. It is big enough to feel like a rock show and small enough to have intimacy with the band. Being a relatively new artist, Courtney Barnett crushed at the state and put on a really good show. I saw her two weeks earlier at Moca in Mass and this show definitely rocked a bit harder! They put more energy into it and I think that is due to the venue and how Mainers like to rock out. I hope they come back on their next tour and give us another great show!

Barnett and Baker - a dream come true

by Melviydusooflle on 7/29/18State Theatre - Portland

The show was all I desired. My only complaint is the words are muzzy, too hard often to distinguish. The front row balcony was one great place to see and hear, anyhow. The spaces and accommodations at the hall were excellent. Crowded around the merchandise stand at the end -- too bad there weren't two such spaces. Ticketing on my phone worked fine. The performances were total and terrific, and Courtney Barnett's band blasted and sounded stupdendous, their harmonics and changes running superbly.
