Absolutely amazing. Crossing Ashland was the best performance I've ever seen.

The first and 3 third part were outstanding. The second part which was the longest was not anything special. The music was monotonous and almost annoying and choreography was kind of " not different and boring " even though it was technically very well performed

It was so entertaining! The best part was however, Episode 13 the last part. It was mind blowing! What a talent!

    Dancers Were Magnificent

by ApolloOne on 2/18/14Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

The beautiful, lithe, powerful bodies performing on the stage made the event successful for me. Utilizing the incredible talent displayed by the dancers was the issue. While I am not technically qualified to discuss the specifics of dance, as a member of the audience and a lifelong dancer myself, I feel that the choreography did not match the talent. More variety and perhaps more challenging routines would have enhanced the overall performance.

    Contemporary Choreographers--a Delightful Surprise

    by 1stIzzy on 2/17/14Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

The energy and creativity, along with the enthusiasm of the dancers was wonderful. We enjoyed it greatly and highly recommend it. I felt the same enthusiasm about their playfulness that I USED TO feel about Hubbard Street Don't miss it

    Contemporary Program at the Joffrey

    by Deborah56 on 2/17/14Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

The first and last pieces were the best. (Crossing Ashland and Episode 31), but the second piece, Continuum, was a snore. Still, a worthwhile evening at the Joffrey, which is a company so well-suited for modern choreography.

    Fabulous Joffrey!!

by AprilSamson on 2/17/14Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

The Contemporary Choreographers program the Joffrey did was one of the best programs I have seen them do. All three pieces were exciting. It is more modern than the Joffrey's usual, but "Contemporary" tells you their intention. The dancing was spectacular! Music at times was a bit jarring -- but to be expected within the context of the pieces. The third piece started with a video of the process of the rehearsals and showed some fun flash mob performances on the El, at the Bean and on CTA -- only wish I was riding the bus when they did it. The only negative I would add, and it is a personal preference, is that the leotards in the second piece were such an ugly shade of green (almost military) that I felt it really took away from the beauty of the dancers. Not sure why such a color was used.

Contemporary Choreographers was fantastic! The Joffrey never disappoints! Each part was unique, but I loved them all.

Terrible Waste of Money and Time

by dantheemaaan on 2/17/14Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

I've been to a few other Jeffrey Ballets, but this was honestly and overpriced piece of junk. Not at all beautiful or elegant, very unprofessional and not well performed. Tickets should cost $5-$10 tops.

This was one of the best ballet's I've ever seen. I've been replaying it in my head ever since, and am obsessively learning about the choreographers and music online. It was amazing! Eye opening!
