About

CONOR OBERST IN CONCERT:

Indie rock posterboy Conor Oberst may have outgrown the wunderkind label of his early days, but maturity has done nothing to diminish the wonder in his music. Fans of Oberst's many projects — Bright Eyes,  Desaparecidos, the Mystic Valley Band — have found  much to love in his recent solo work,  and the prolific singer covers a bit of everything at his discography-spanning live shows. Whether he's performing stripped down arrangements with just a guitar or adding bombast to his compositions with backing musicians and electronics, Oberst delivers the same heartfelt, emotional  performances he's become known for. In support of the 2014 release of Upside Down Mountain, Oberst will embark on a series of highly anticipated US tour dates with special guest Dawes.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Oberst was involved in choir and other musical activities during high school. By age 13, he had self-released a cassette album called Water, which he recorded in the family home's basement with his father's four track recorder.  The label Oberst and his brother founded for the release would become venerated indie label Saddle Creek Records, which they still own and operate today with a roster of bands that includes Cursive and Tokyo Police Club. After several early projects, the precocious young Oberst hit his stride with Bright Eyes, one of the most acclaimed indie bands of the '00s. Alongside his work with the band, Oberst has continued to release solo material, with 2014's Upside Down Mountain marking his ninth solo album.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Not only did he play many old songs that I know and love, he also spoke to the crowd, made us laugh, and mesmerized us with his talent and artistry."

"His performance was one I'll never forget. He was so coherent and raw...loved that he actually spoke to the crowd and was social."
"Mindblowing! Conor was so much fun, played songs from most of his discography"

    A Healing night

by Deejdray on 10/30/17The Criterion - Oklahoma City

This past Friday was my first Conor concert. Although I have been a fan for a while now, I am not a huge concert goer. I was excited to go have a night of real, raw music. The amount of talent that was on the stage that night, still has left a magical spot in my soul. It was some what of a healing experience. That is the great thing about his music, it is sad but it is beyond that. It is something that is unfiltered. Something that most people are too scared to write about but are all too familiar to our hearts. It strips down a barrier that everyone has put up, about appearing to be perfect all the time. His music allows a safe space to know everyone goes through things and it is okay to feel them and get them out.

    best shows are conor shows

by elovesa on 10/23/17Culture Room - Ft Lauderdale

i'll follow conor oberst/bright eyes anywhere. he and the band always deliver an unforgettable show. venue is very small but made the experience more intimate. parking is difficult as it's just a small strip mall. drinks are crazy expensive -- $15 for two bottled beers?! however, with it for this band and this show <3

Connor, in your face, strong band, a bit full of..

by excitablegirl on 10/23/17Culture Room - Ft Lauderdale

himself?! enjoyed the gig. decent venue, up close, personal. CO a bit self indulgent with the whole 'make you wait extra long time for encore while i stroll back out with my red solo cup after you all have already been standing 3 hours' thing

Conor Oberst is a Must see live!!!

by ConcertJunkie916 on 10/15/17The Fillmore - San Francisco

Conor Oberst is one of the most incredible singer and songwriters of our generation. His live shows have so much energy, emotion, and talent that you can’t wait to see him play at the next show. I went to 2 shows last week in Nevada City and San Francisco. The Fillmore is one of the most historic venues. As you walk in and see all of the former concert posters on the walls, you realize the thousands of bands that have played there.

Awesome set list, really good energy. Played a few songs from Bright Eyes, which was dope. Wasn't a huge fan of HopAlong.

Even my husband who has never heard a single Conor Oberst, bright eyes, mystic river, etc. song in his life had an amazing time. He always chooses awesome people to back him & it's so fun to watch.

    Great tunes

by CotyNo on 3/30/17The Pageant - St Louis

Without a doubt, always a great show when Conor comes to town. The Felice Brothers opened up, which was awesome and then they were the house band for Conor as well. Conor Oberst in my opinion is one of our times top lyricist hands down. Amazing alternative folk vibe and interesting takes on life. Check out Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley band as well as solo Conor Oberst for sensational music.

by BLC84 on 3/28/17The Pageant - St Louis

I already knew this would be an amazing show and I was not disappointed. Opening act was insanely good and also the band that plays with Conor on his new album. It was a lovely evening with some very talented musicians.

    The audience Oberst with applause

by WillouBeast on 3/28/17The Pageant - St Louis

Conor Oberst put on a fantastic show with the band that recorded with him on his latest album. He played songs that were from his solo albums as well as from his previous bands. He told some great stories and had a great stage presence.

    Conor Oberst doesn't dissappoint

by niftynickt on 3/17/17Madrid Theatre - Kansas City

I was pleasantly surprised that Conor and company not only played tracks from Ruminations and Salutations, but that he also went deeper into his catalog and played some amazing Bright Eyes tracks, which were hugely complemented by the touring band this go round.

    Subpar

by MalloMolly on 3/13/17Madrid Theatre - Kansas City

Lots and lots of songs from the new, unreleased record. Only a few older tracks. Not much that the audience wanted to hear. Low energy. Very average. Got the feeling Conor would rather have stayed in bed. Not worth the ticket price and drive time. Saw Conor once in the past, and he was much better that time so maybe it was just an off night.

    An amazing show

by Fianchetto2 on 12/13/16The Cathedral Sanctuary at Immanuel Presbyterian - Los Angeles

The site for the show was unusual but it produced one of the best Conor Oberst concerts I have witnessed (and I have seen him solo and in his various bands at least 30 times going back to the Lifted tour). This is about as "solo" as Conor gets..The acoustics were awesome which produced crisp sounds and vocals. He performed "Ruminations" in its entirety followed by a brief intermission followed by 8 or so songs from his prior work...including The Big Picture which I had not heard in many moons. I think this solo tour is just about over, but I would highly recommend seeing him next time in Southern California.

    Always a treat

    by JLL57 on 11/9/16Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

The amount of raw talent Conor has is ridiculous. I've been lucky enough to see him a handful of times and I leave every show with my jaw on the floor. So emotion. Such wow.

One of the best shows I have ever seen period. Both Conor and Mark Kozelek were excellent.
