Johnette Napolitano's voice has lost nothing, and while they were a bit rusty the overall experience was very good.

    Johnette is still the Best!!!

    by pjc109 on 6/10/10Royale Boston - Boston

This was the ultimate for all Concrete Blonde (and Johnette) fans. Johnette sounded and looked amazing. They did all the songs (and a few surprises) you would have expected. From my view Johnette was the one who had the most fun of all. If you have any opportunity to take in this gift you won't regret it. Rock On Blonde!!!

    Concrete Blonde was ferocious

by wheresandrew on 6/9/10Royale Boston - Boston

A mind-blowing ninety minute set. The band seemed comfortable, even suffering opening night snafus like forgetting lyrics on the song True or having to convo to decide which key Run Run Run started in. Hit songs were well represented, covering almost every album. On Mexican Moon, Napolitano put down the bass and just belted the love song with Mankey on an acoustic guitar as accompaniment. For a brief moment, the tone of the performance softened, letting her incomparable vocals shine through and giving her a chance to work the stage with dance. Easily the best songs of the night where the hardest played, breathtaking renditions of I Don’t Need a Hero and When I Was a Fool that you felt in your brain and in your bones. This was Napolitano at her very best, reaching out through the songs to enthrall every person in the room. Ghost of a Texas Ladies Man and the main set closer Your Haunted Head seared into your brain.

Concrete Blonde was amazing. Every song was played to perfection. The big sound of the trio was led by the powerful voice of Johnette. I have never seen them live, and I was very impressed. The venue was also really beautiful and clean.

Concrete Blonde has still got it!

Veracious energy remains amid cracks about their age. Johnette still belts, she sings with all of the emotion she had a decade ago when I last saw them live. Wish they would have played longer, 1 1/2 hours wasn't nearly enough!

    Better than ever!

by Arnao on 6/9/10Royale Boston - Boston

I saw Concrete Blonde back in the early 90's. Seeing them again last night was unbelievable. Johnettte is better than ever, her voice is still incredible. She took it to a whole new level. She is Concrete!!!! So glad I traveled the miles (from Shirley, Ma) & went. I am still glowing this morning.

    This is a must see!

by WhinyMcGee on 6/9/10Royale Boston - Boston

If you're debating whether or not to see them when they come to your town, do not hesitate to do so. They sound great, the setlist has almost everything you'd want to hear, and their power is undeniable. If I had one tiny caveat (and this is my fault, probably), I thought the show would have them playing Bloodletting in its entirety (much like the Pixies did with Doolittle on their 20th anniversary tour) but, while the cuts were there, it wasn't a track for track replay (which actually made it a better, more unpredictable show).
