I enjoy Common music, interviews and etc but this event was not what I thought it was going to be. Instead I was surprised with a "tribute to common" NO PERFORMANCE! I love hip hop and I was really looking forward to hearing good music. I must have overlooked the description of the event when I purchased the tickets but I was not pleased. I felt like I was mislead by the title only say Common.
From the advertisement I was lead to believe that Common would be performing at the Lincoln Theatre. He did not. It was an award and talent show. Common was interviewed by the MC. He did not perform and due to weather his plane was delayed and he did not come on stage untill almost 9pm. The show started at 6:30pm/
For some reason I thought I would get a performance from him but it did not happen. The organization that sponsored the event does great work and the other artists did a great job performing. The interview was great but I guess I just didn't realize it was not a concert at all.
I was slightly disappointed because of the lack of information given on ticket master and Lincoln center website. Initially my fiancée and I thought it was going to be a concert, or maybe a night with common speaking to the crowd with small performances here or there. To our surprise, it was an award gala in which common was being interviewed. Not that I minded necessarily because I would pay to watch common breathe because he's so handsome.... But I'm sure my fiancée did not feel the same way. Common did arrive a tad behind schedule due to inclimate weather and flight delays. Overall however, we had a decent time with the opening performances and the interview. I just wish I knew beforehand what it actually was or I wouldn't have purchased the tickets. I will definitely be conducting more research next time.
This event was billed as a concert but it was not. I was very disappointed Common didn't do not even one song.
There was something from every piece of hip hop at this show. A Legend, Radio star, The underground.. It was all represented very well in this surprise OC Hip hop show. well done!
Left all of us party people speechless. Common delivers his back 2 back hit songs non-stop. We were up on our feet dancing 2 every hit song he ever created. I danced my ? off.:)
great energy, good show, awesome company to share it all with. not a must see, but it definitely didn't suck.
This show was amazing to say the least. Common is such a gifted artist as well as musician. Common and his band were flawless musically and engaged with the crowd well. i would definitely pay to see this again.

Common was great live! Just wished he performed more songs. Otherwise, he made every girl in the audience melt :)

Saw him at the UCI event and it was wonderful!! Got front row and he pulled my girl on stage! He is great live and his freestyle was tight! I wish he did more shows out in the OC cuz i would definitely go to each one!!
General admission standing in front of the stage, but there were seats available in the venue that were pretty close to enjoy from. Common always puts on a dope show. I had a great time!
Common is a Lyrical Poet Hip Hop Master. Been with him since he came out in '89 and will always be a FAN. Much respect for this man who is a gift to Hip Hop genre.
This was my 4th Common concert that I've been to in the last 2yrs. Common ALWAYS puts on an Amazing show. He truely represents Real Hip Hop!
I loved the performance! It was great! This was my second time seeing Common live and I loved it! Although I do wish he would have played I Used to Love Her! Bummer!!
I saw Common with Maxwell last summer and this show was substantially the same, but I'd see it over and over again. Common just knows how to rock a show. The opening acts, B.O.B. and the Cool Kids were awesome too - a fantastic show all around.
