About

Inspire Today. Imagine Tomorrow.

Here at Columbus Children’s Theatre (CCT), our mission is to inspire, enrich and empower the imaginations of children and their families through live theatre and theatre education.

At Columbus Children's Theatre we educate and involve young people of all backgrounds in the theatre arts through our 3 core programs; Performance Series, CCT Academy and Professional Touring Company. Through our programs we foster self-esteem and self-discovery by emphasizing discipline, integrity, team-building, and communication skills in a positive and creative environment. We promote access to theatre arts for families who do not have regular opportunities to appreciate theatre in their lives because of either economic, cultural, or other barriers.

    CCT Wizard of Oz!

by MomOfTwoLittleGirls on 4/13/14Lincoln Theatre - COLUMBUS

I took my girls to see this play as a prelude to our Spring Break fun and it was a great kickoff to the week! Not only is the Lincoln Theater amazing, but the set, stage designs, and acting was out of this world! I enjoyed that the characters were true to the film and had the same inflections we've grown to love over the years; it was also quite a pleasant surprise to see Glinda, the Wicked Witch and the monkeys all "flying" on the set. We cannot say enough good things about this performance--it is definitely a must see!

The play was good. The actors were good. sensory and custom selection good. The signing good. like the spin on songs from the movie. Some of the jokes were borderline on appropriateness. There was a little bit more cussing in the musical than the movie. I would have like to know that, so I had the opportunity to example the context to the children who were in attendance with me as I am not their parent or guardian. The first thing the girls told their father was, about the amount of cussing there was in this play in comparison to the movie.

These kids know how to act!

by DramaInDublin on 8/20/13Park Street Theatre - Columbus

This was the first production that my two kids (ages 3 and 5) have attended at Columbus Children's Theatre, and my first reaction was, "WOW!" My expectations were not very high considering that the actors are children themselves, but these are no ordinary kids. They are an extremely talented and professional group of individuals, who no doubt have bright futures ahead of them. As for my own kids, they have done nothing but play "Little Mermaid" since the show. We will definitely be returning for future events.

    Amazing

by nish84 on 8/20/13Park Street Theatre - Columbus

The children and young adults did an amazing...... It was just like watching the movie, looking into signing my daughter up for fall classes. Everyone was polite and the interaction with the viewing children was priceless... Only complaint is the seating made it a little difficult to see, I understand the building is a little small and they are working with the space they have, praying for funding to expand the buiding for better seating and scholarships for any child who wants to attend and money to be able to travel to different event for free. Keep up the good work and stay focused.... God Bless

I believe the direction was good but some scenes were totally out of sight from some seats on the sides. Costumes were good . chorus songs were very good.

    Awesome for the kids!!

by Motherof2superkiddos on 8/14/13Park Street Theatre - Columbus

The show was great! The children's theater does a lovely job for these kiddos and I am looking forward to attending more of their show in the future. For this particular show (The little mermaid Jr) the songs were fun and the storyline was well performed. I am completely impressed with all o the cast, kudos to them. Logistical: This show was great for our kids (ages 3 & 5) - they loved it! The 60min length was perfect and the venue was family-friendly, warm and inviting. Parking around the theater was easy and not too far for the little ones to walk.

I took my daughter and grandkids to see Saturday afternoon showing of The Little Mermaid and were thoroughly entertained by the wonderful performance. Loved all the young actors, but in particular those who played, Scuttle, Sebastian and Ursula's side kicks were great.

The show was outstanding. Especially the girl who played scuttle. She was amazing and should be on broadway.

Children' theater is exactly that great for kids.

by MC84013 on 8/12/13Park Street Theatre - Columbus

Little mermaid was perfect for my 6 years old niece. She loved it. Only problem is we had tickets on the east side of the stage and when the actors were acting inside the stage we could not see it at all. In prior performances, actors were always out on the stage floor.

    AMAZING!!

    by Theatregoer524 on 7/28/13Columbus Children's Theater - Columbus, OH

This was an OUTSTANDING production done by the "Pre-Professional" group at Children's Theater!!! It was fast paced, scene changes were smooth, casting was excellent and it was just plain enjoyable FUN!!! We've opted to attend more than once also as another reviewer mentioned, because it was such a great experience!! To "Penny" -- first of all, it is CLEARLY marked EVERYWHERE tickets are sold, that it is "recommended for ages 13 and UP"...not sure HOW you could have missed that...or else you just chose to ignore those warnings thinking your 11 year old niece would be "fine" and therefore it was YOUR fault you ended up leaving. Secondly, Children's Theater "Pre-Professional" show that they do EVERY summer, tends to be more for adults -- it's their tradition -- I know that's odd from a Children's Theater -- don't understand it myself -- BUT that's what they do. The third point is that "The Wedding Singer" is an Adam Sandler movie -- did you not KNOW that??? Thus, the musical-- based on the movie -- is PROBABLY going to be a little "rude and crude" -- given where it comes from!!! Anyway -- I don't think it's fair you rated the PERFORMANCE the way you did, given you brought an 11 year old to a "13 & Up" rated show!! I would HIGHLY recommend this show to any ADULTS looking for an evening out in Columbus!!!

    NOT for Children!

by PennyLoafer2 on 7/22/13Park Street Theatre - Columbus

Please note: This rating is based solely upon the fact that the play is not suitable for children. It is staged at the Columbus CHILDREN'S Theater. After leaving the performance with my 11 year old niece at intermission, I did research and there was an article in the Dispatch indicating that the performance is the only one of the year that is not geared to a younger audience. A reasonable person would NOT glean that from the Theater's available information, especially in the context of it's being a children's theater. My suggestion: A clarified description with a statement that this is recommended for ages 13 and up.
