Columbus Blue Jackets History
The Columbus Blue Jackets—whose name pays tribute to Ohio's substantial contributions to the Union army during the Civil War—joined the NHL as an expansion franchise in 2000.
The Blue Jackets played their first 12 seasons as a member of the Western Conference, making their first foray into the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2008-2009 led by All-Star winger Rick Nash and Rookie of the Year goaltender Steve Mason.
NHL realignment saw the team move to the Eastern Conference in 2013-2014, and the Blue Jackets have since collected six winning seasons and qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs five times. Columbus was one of just three teams to earn playoff berths in four consecutive seasons from 2016-2020, joining the Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals.
In 2018-2019, the eighth-seeded Blue Jackets faced off against the Presidents' Trophy-winning and top-seeded Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round of the playoffs. The Blue Jackets shocked the heavily-favored Lightning as they became the first team in NHL history to earn a four-game sweep in the first round of the playoffs against a team with the league's best regular-season record.

Great game
by DarkEner9y on 2/9/15Nationwide Arena - ColumbusRating: 4 out of 5Took the girlfriend out for a game. Great game! 7-1 vs STL!! The older couple sitting next to us good have been better. We were sitting in section 210(great view) and when we found our seats we discovered the older gentleman sitting in my seat. My girlfriend politely explained he was sitting in one of our seats. The man looks up at her and says and does nothing...ok. My girlfriend sits down in her seat and I move passed her and tell the man 'You're in my seat', showing him my ticket. He says nothing but proceeds to move on the other side of his wife. I say thank you and sit down. The woman then complains to me 'Why do they have to sit people right on top of us when there are so many empty seats?'(First hockey game?) She then trades places with her husband. All of that was slightly annoying but the thing that really got under my skin was once the section filled in anytime anyone around this couple got up they would immediately place their coats and purse in that seat. The entitlement was oozing out of them and I felt they were being inconsiderate to the people around them. The game was sooo good though that it actually made me forget about them by the end. Nothing will deter me from enjoying the Jackets!!

by JW19Fan on 1/30/15Nationwide Arena - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5We had an amazing time at the game. The seats were great! You could feel the impact of the hits! My favorite player is Ryan Johanson and to see him score a goal up so close is unforgetable. I highly recommend this event to all Blue Jackets fans.

The Blue Jackets are always fun to watch especially on home ice. Nationwide Arena is very clean, comfortable and fun and the fireworks at the end of the game were very well done as well.

Always a Fun Time
by Kytten74 on 1/5/15Nationwide Arena - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5The only downside was no giveaways at the door, not typical for a night such as New Year's Eve :)
