Columbus Blue Jackets History
The Columbus Blue Jackets—whose name pays tribute to Ohio's substantial contributions to the Union army during the Civil War—joined the NHL as an expansion franchise in 2000.
The Blue Jackets played their first 12 seasons as a member of the Western Conference, making their first foray into the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2008-2009 led by All-Star winger Rick Nash and Rookie of the Year goaltender Steve Mason.
NHL realignment saw the team move to the Eastern Conference in 2013-2014, and the Blue Jackets have since collected six winning seasons and qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs five times. Columbus was one of just three teams to earn playoff berths in four consecutive seasons from 2016-2020, joining the Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals.
In 2018-2019, the eighth-seeded Blue Jackets faced off against the Presidents' Trophy-winning and top-seeded Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round of the playoffs. The Blue Jackets shocked the heavily-favored Lightning as they became the first team in NHL history to earn a four-game sweep in the first round of the playoffs against a team with the league's best regular-season record.

Took my two nephews to their first game ever. Great seats and great win.
Great game , but Columbus did not win. There isn't a bad seat in the house at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Our seats were in the upper bowl, but you could see the entire ice surface and total action. The seats were on the isle so it was totally convenient to get up and grab whatever you needed during the game. Nationwide has a large amount of food and beverage options and the NHL items are everywhere to be found and purchased. TOTAL FUN!!!
Sitting in the lower bowl of Nationwide Arena guarantees a nice view of the action, though an expensive one. The crowd was thin for a Saturday night in the holiday season, but the game turned out to be very exciting. It's a new arena with few frills - good food options, nothing unique except the annoying cannon that fires every time the Blue Jackets score a goal.
The Kings won, 3-2, in OT! Who couldn't love that? As a displaced L.A. Kings fan now living in Columbus I was very pleased to see my team hang around long enough to tie it up in the 3rd and go on to win in OT. The new 3-on-3 OT format is a bit weird, lots of ice to cover, so much that there's little defense, just skating around looking for an opening to break out for a shot. The Jackets' thing of shooting a cannon when they score is unique and they put on a good show for being small-market.
This was my first professional hockey game and it was awesome! Our seats were great with a good view of the ice. We sat 20 rows up from the glass, in the lower bowl. The venue was very clean and modern with a good and and friendly staff. We are already planning for another game.
We've gone to the CBJ-Pens game the last few years because our son is an avid fan of the Pens for some reason. We live in Dayton, Ohio. Last year we got club seats and again bought 3 seats for this years game as a Christmas present for him. We love the seats and the view and the access to great food and bar, but two days before the game they are offering $25 dollar tickets to the lower bowl and I would of done that for cost. I spent close to $400 and if I had the option to buy lower arena seats for $25, I would of jumped on that. But anyway, my son had a great time and that's all that matters.
The game was fantastic, and the 3 on 3 overtime was awesome!
My Nov. 22 Blue Jackets game was my first Blue Jackets game. My son, an ice hockey enthusiast, was visiting, so we took in a game. I have to say that I wasn't disappointed! It was actually a lot of fun! My son was impressed with the excitement in the arena and the enthusiasm of the fans. Even though the Jackets fell short at the end, it was an enjoyable experience!
Hubby and I went to last Friday's game vs. Nashville. Going in, CBJ had 3-9 record, while Nashville was 11-3. Columbus won 4-0 - yes! Our seats were amazing, other folks around us, while enthusiastic, were polite and friendly. We'll be going back again.
CBJ played the worst game I've attended. This was the first time I have ever left a game before it ended, and I've been to some pretty bad games over the years. Sorry CBJ. I'm out. If you want me back in the stands, you'll have to pay me. Enough is enough.
Awesome experience and perfect seats to get close too your favorite team
The Columbus Blue Jackets are not playing well. They are not meeting up to early expectations. Hopefully, they will play better and win some games.
Unfortunately, the Blue Jackets are playing the same as they did last year. When they get the lead, they slack off. Every game should be played as if it is for the Stanley Cup. They are not hungry enough to win a game. Power play needs work and our passing game needs work. Bob is not playing up to par. I'd bench him.
Being a Ranger fan in Ohio means only once or twice a year to make the drive to Columbus to see my team play. This was well worth it. The arena is laid out well with plenty of room and good seating. They always have something going on during commercial breaks to keep things moving. Only reason not to go 5 stars was long lines at concessions, and poor ratio mens rooms to ladies. No lines for the women, but lines in them mens rooms.
The Jackets were host to the New York Rangers. The team was playing a good game until the last three minutes. It was like the Jackets of old. Rangers scored three goals in less than two minutes and the game was over.
We had a great time and sat right behind our team.
We won the game. Extended our winning streak to 13 of 14, or something like that. The game was fun. Every line gave their all. Can't wait until the new season starts.
As always the staff at Nationwide was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Parking was easy and relatively inexpensive. Concession lines between periods were long, but moved quickly and efficiently. The game was amazing and being fan appreciation night made it that much more fun.
Excellent view and great value for the money. Good in game experience.
Great game and wonderfull place! I Stongly recommend for all.
