Columbus Blue Jackets History
The Columbus Blue Jackets—whose name pays tribute to Ohio's substantial contributions to the Union army during the Civil War—joined the NHL as an expansion franchise in 2000.
The Blue Jackets played their first 12 seasons as a member of the Western Conference, making their first foray into the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2008-2009 led by All-Star winger Rick Nash and Rookie of the Year goaltender Steve Mason.
NHL realignment saw the team move to the Eastern Conference in 2013-2014, and the Blue Jackets have since collected six winning seasons and qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs five times. Columbus was one of just three teams to earn playoff berths in four consecutive seasons from 2016-2020, joining the Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals.
In 2018-2019, the eighth-seeded Blue Jackets faced off against the Presidents' Trophy-winning and top-seeded Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round of the playoffs. The Blue Jackets shocked the heavily-favored Lightning as they became the first team in NHL history to earn a four-game sweep in the first round of the playoffs against a team with the league's best regular-season record.

Blue Jackets played amazing. The little games and things played in between periods are great. Always something to keep you interested.
CBJ v. the Flyers was my second time going to a NHL game and I cannot wait to go to my next game. It so much fun watching the game in person. The only thing that bothered my was someone sitting in the row behind me cussing every other word and there being a young boy at his first hockey game sitting a few seats down. Other than that it was a fantastic experience.
Seats little cramped but still a great venue. Friendly staff and lots to see
Every Bluejackets Game is amazing and is always an amazing experience ! I love going every time !
Blue jacket fans are amazing! The place was sold out and everyone is into the game. Much more exciting than watching on tv.
CBJ staff are bar none quality fan oriented! Loved the attention to detail from start to finish the organization gives to their fans and guests.
This game was nerve-racking from the start because of our two previous losses to the Bruins. But we were in such good form, we just had to win, right? The Jackets got loose early and had three goals before we knew it. Seth Jones' rip was just sick. Cam Atkinson's goal where he pulled it back and tucked it under Tuukka Rask was just sick. The patience! Rask is AMAZING...he is so hard to beat. Cam watched him butterfly, held it...held it...held it...and then reached and released. Wow. Just like I worried, the Bruins roared back and had the CBJ on their heels ALL of the second period. It was hard to watch. We had about four shots on goal. When Nick Foligno notched his goal with 9 minutes left, the arena erupted. It was a brilliant win over a more-than-worthy adversary. Awesome game.
What a thrill to attend a full house for the CBJ!!! And to sit in the lower bowl for a game!!
The Blue Jackets are playing great and the fans were there to support the team! It was awesome to witness their 13th win in a row!!! Only complaint was the arena sound system needs to be turned down a notch! It's way to loud, my ears rang for 2 days!
These tickets were a Christmas gift for my daughter. Great family night out!
NWA was pulsating !! Great time - awesome. Would do it again.
went to see the jackets and the penguins and basically was at a college frat party due to the quantity of 18-22 year old men that were totally wasted and drunk on beer that for the most part had no clue what they were talking about. the language that was being used was very inappropriate even after the beginning of the game the jumbo-tron tells you to watch your mouth due to the fact that there are children and others who dont want to hear the abusive words.
Awesome seats, friendly staff, best game ever. Three goals in less than a minute!! Who ever would have thought I'd see that? CBJ brought their game and shoved it in the Penguins' face.
I am a Pittsburgh Penguins fan and have been to many hockey games in Columbus, some wins and some losses. CBJ did win this game by a large margin, which is not that big a deal. But, the CBJ fans made it an uncomfortable experience. They need to learn how to win graciously. They were yelling obscenities at the players and the team as a whole, whether you are winning or losing there is no need for this. Win or lose, you need to show good sportsmanship, especially when there are young kids in the area.
Game was amazing! Seats were great, Nationwide Arena is a perfect place for hockey and concerts
Nationwide Arena has always been top notch, it's great that they now have a top notch team.
The game was amazing, the arena was beautiful and the blue jackets fans were really cool and energetic! We got good tickets for a fair price :)
First hockey game I've been to and it was so exciting. The Blue Jackets are playing some really good hockey this year!! The parking fee ($20) is ridiculous though.
Drove down from Cleveland to watch the Blue Jackets slay the Penguins. This game did not dissapoint!
