Colt Ford is back with his best album ever and all it took was a return to his roots.
“I went backwards,” Colt says. “I went back to Ride Through The Country.” Which is not to say Colt simply re-hashed his breakthrough album. Quite the contrary, in fact.
In all, Colt wrote or co-wrote 14 of the album’s 15 tracks.  “This album is very real and honest and by far the best record I’ve ever made,” Colt says with pride.  “The last two records—I stand up and cheer for them—but I tried to make a lot of people happy on the last two records and I took the edge off of it. On this record I put the edge back on there.”
Those familiar with Colt’s lotta-fun-legacy shouldn’t be surprised that Declaration of Independence is chock-full of good time anthems and left turns.  “I hear artists say, ‘I’ve got 10 songs and they’re all singles.’ Well, I don’t know if I want to even hear that record, because that shouldn’t be the case,” Colt contends. “If you did 10 songs and they’re all singles you did a whole album of vanilla.  I would prefer to have a few different flavors. Just because something isn’t designed as a single, doesn’t mean it’s not a great song.”
For the legion of fans that have seen Colt’s live shows—over 750,000 did in 2011 alone—“the edge” is what they’ve come to expect. In the same way that a superstar athlete leaves everything he has on the field, Colt knows no other way to perform than to be all in. “I give it everything I’ve got when I go out on stage,” he says. “It’s about the fans. That’s my goal, to reach and touch as many people as I can. I don’t really have any goals beyond that. I’m so blessed and lucky to play music for a living.”
Perhaps it’s that sense of not belonging that allows Colt to connect to his blue-collar fans. “There’s nothing about me that ain’t country,” Colt says with a laugh.
As millions of fans and Colt’s artist friends know, truer words have never been spoken.

    Worst concert that I have ever went to!!!!!!!!!, they just couldn't perform well, and the sound was awful.

    Colt Ford's main show did not do any covers, or even songs that he wrote but never recorded. All the music was his original songs. GREAT show!

    Although the weather wasn't the greatest, so the audience was a little light, he told everyone that wasn't going to slow him down and it didn't! He had everyone dancing in the isles having a great time and posing for pics while rocking the house. I would see him again if he came to town and would definitely recommend his show!!

    Colt ford was very good and it was great being on the dance floor so class to the stage. Pretty disappointed that we got there at 8 but he didn't come in stage until 11:15 pm

    8 Seconds Saloon was huge, very clean with nice staff. They should of planned out the meet and greets a little better but I'm not complaining. Colt Ford is amazing in every concert I've been too.

    We enjoyed the concert as a whole but were not that impressed with the first band I-65, but Renegade and Colt Ford were awesome. We were sitting upstairs and it seemed that the music drowned out the main singer. We had trouble understanding the words. Maybe thats a Sound Board thing that needs addressed and I'm sure everyplace is different.

    The concert was very high energy! Being a military widow a girlfriend to a veteran and a sister and friend to many men with PTSD the song Colt sang to raise awareness about PTSD hit home and left a lasting affect on us. We will come back to see him whenever he is in town.

    Colt Fort Started right on time. He's just a great overall performer, funny and energetic throughout the whole show. He was very engaging to the crowd, joking, telling stories and thanking everyone several times. Great set-list and played all our favorite songs about 15 in total. It was our First time seeing him and will definitely go again! Only thing I would say is that the sound could have used some improvement, it was a little distorted and difficult to understand.

    It took forever to start. When she did come out you could hear a word she said. Then there was no one in between her and colt. He didn't come out til after 11. So I paid $38 to basically listen to the radio.

    Overall was very pleased with the performance and the event. The sound could have used some improvement as it was a little distorted and difficult to understand what was being said. Other than that Colt rocked his performance!!!

    Wife and I both enjoyed the concert. All the acts did a fantastic job. Exceeded our expectations. We have seen Colt before, he always put on a good show. His band is outstanding!
