Colt Ford is back with his best album ever and all it took was a return to his roots.
“I went backwards,” Colt says. “I went back to Ride Through The Country.” Which is not to say Colt simply re-hashed his breakthrough album. Quite the contrary, in fact.
In all, Colt wrote or co-wrote 14 of the album’s 15 tracks. “This album is very real and honest and by far the best record I’ve ever made,” Colt says with pride. “The last two records—I stand up and cheer for them—but I tried to make a lot of people happy on the last two records and I took the edge off of it. On this record I put the edge back on there.”
Those familiar with Colt’s lotta-fun-legacy shouldn’t be surprised that Declaration of Independence is chock-full of good time anthems and left turns. “I hear artists say, ‘I’ve got 10 songs and they’re all singles.’ Well, I don’t know if I want to even hear that record, because that shouldn’t be the case,” Colt contends. “If you did 10 songs and they’re all singles you did a whole album of vanilla. I would prefer to have a few different flavors. Just because something isn’t designed as a single, doesn’t mean it’s not a great song.”
For the legion of fans that have seen Colt’s live shows—over 750,000 did in 2011 alone—“the edge” is what they’ve come to expect. In the same way that a superstar athlete leaves everything he has on the field, Colt knows no other way to perform than to be all in. “I give it everything I’ve got when I go out on stage,” he says. “It’s about the fans. That’s my goal, to reach and touch as many people as I can. I don’t really have any goals beyond that. I’m so blessed and lucky to play music for a living.”
Perhaps it’s that sense of not belonging that allows Colt to connect to his blue-collar fans. “There’s nothing about me that ain’t country,” Colt says with a laugh.
As millions of fans and Colt’s artist friends know, truer words have never been spoken.
The venue was very nice. Both bands were awesome. My only negative would be that Colt Ford did not play nearly long enough. The casino was very nice, and the room was great.
Not much to say, it was loud , fun , lots of drinks. An overall dam good time
This concert was my favorite so far. The lacs Rock the roof off the place then Colt Ford came out then it was a huge party atmosphere. Colt stands for what country singers should be America he bleeds red white and blue.

Ten out of ten. Would definitely go to see Colt Ford again and would for sure go back to the 8 Seconds Saloon.
Colt Ford gave a wonderful performance as always. We are making this a family event every year and hope that he continues to come to 8 Second Saloon. Can't wait until next year!
Both bands were great. Many drunk rude people in the crowd jumping in front of you and pushing back into you , not a pleasant experience. No more standing concerts at Harrah's, will do seated only from now on.
No one was around to direct you to where I was to go
We loved the show but my wife has a bad back and can’t stand for long times I just wish they had seats to sit in
Awesome music wasnt to crowded and could see from everywhere. Great show that noth groups put on .
I didn’t care for the lack of organization at the drink areas ..the wait was horrible
There were two bartenders for the entire venue which resulted in a half hour line to get beer. The show was decent, just not what I imagined. It was the sleepiest concert I've ever been to. Plus side, I got to gamble once it was over.
The LACS were amazing and Colt Ford was ok. Would definitely see the LACS again!
Everything was absolutely awesome! We were a huge fan before the concert and now an even bigger one. Fantastic guys!
Both colt Ford and the LACs were great! Venue was small but easy to access from casino, sound was good and seating was at a premium but would pay to see them again.
I have been a Colt Ford fan for years and when I saw he was coming to Cherokee, I knew I was going. I got lucky and my girlfriend had won meet and greet passes for a show up north, and the nice folks at Average Joes was kind enough to let me use them in Cherokee. Colt was really cool and very personable. The Lac's were good but Colt really was awesome. Cherokee is a great place to see a show and always a good crowd and easy in and out.
The show was awesome!!!! The venue was very hot and stuffy and had 30 minute long lines for drinks. I give the show 5 stars I give the venue 2 stars I give the hotel & Casino 0 stars!!! ABSOLUTELY A HORRIBLE PLACE TO STAY!!!!!
The Colt Ford/Lacs concert was awesome! The entertainment was one of the best I’ve ever been to. I highly recommend that if you get the chance I go watch then go!
