Colt Ford is back with his best album ever and all it took was a return to his roots.
“I went backwards,” Colt says. “I went back to Ride Through The Country.” Which is not to say Colt simply re-hashed his breakthrough album. Quite the contrary, in fact.
In all, Colt wrote or co-wrote 14 of the album’s 15 tracks. “This album is very real and honest and by far the best record I’ve ever made,” Colt says with pride. “The last two records—I stand up and cheer for them—but I tried to make a lot of people happy on the last two records and I took the edge off of it. On this record I put the edge back on there.”
Those familiar with Colt’s lotta-fun-legacy shouldn’t be surprised that Declaration of Independence is chock-full of good time anthems and left turns. “I hear artists say, ‘I’ve got 10 songs and they’re all singles.’ Well, I don’t know if I want to even hear that record, because that shouldn’t be the case,” Colt contends. “If you did 10 songs and they’re all singles you did a whole album of vanilla. I would prefer to have a few different flavors. Just because something isn’t designed as a single, doesn’t mean it’s not a great song.”
For the legion of fans that have seen Colt’s live shows—over 750,000 did in 2011 alone—“the edge” is what they’ve come to expect. In the same way that a superstar athlete leaves everything he has on the field, Colt knows no other way to perform than to be all in. “I give it everything I’ve got when I go out on stage,” he says. “It’s about the fans. That’s my goal, to reach and touch as many people as I can. I don’t really have any goals beyond that. I’m so blessed and lucky to play music for a living.”
Perhaps it’s that sense of not belonging that allows Colt to connect to his blue-collar fans. “There’s nothing about me that ain’t country,” Colt says with a laugh.
As millions of fans and Colt’s artist friends know, truer words have never been spoken.
The wife and I attended the Colt Ford / LACS concert at the Horseshoe Casino in Tunica on 9/15 and had a GREAT time. We really got the tickets to see the LACS and they were awesome and put on a great show. We did watch Colt Ford and he was very good but we don't know a lot of his songs. Both Colt Ford and the LACS interacted with the audience and made it a night to remember.
The Lacs and Colt Ford put in an amazing show. I will definitely go to another concert with either of them.
Loved the music of Colt Ford and his band is super good. Loved the music about God, country and the American way of life. The show was great from start to finish. We have and will in the future tell friends and social media contacts about the wonderful event. A very professional event in a great event center. So much enjoyment, Colt was a great entertainer and very much into the crowd. I looked immediately for another concernt but non were nearby. Hope to see him again.
The guitarist was amazing and the rest of the band killed it! They put on an amazing show!

I enjoyed it but the concert was just barely over an hour. I have never been to an artist's concert where they only played for such a short time. That is disappointing!!
Love the venue. I've been there several times. No complaints. The lines run smooth, employees are friendly and helpful. 5 stars all day. And Colt Ford rocked it out 100%
Chose Colt Ford playing the IP casino as it looked like a smaller venue. I knew seeing him/his band play would be nice, but my expectations were exceeded! This being my first concert, I don't have much to compare it to other than the artists who play onstage at the county fair. However, I would definitely love to see this band again. The IP studio was a great place for such an event.

The first guy at the concert who sang 5 songs - I like him. After the show is over in 30 minutes or so and I was forced to go out, but at that time received a call from my friend that another guy starts sang his songs and came back. His music I don't like so much and so big pauses at least 1 hour... Does he really think he is Sinatra?
intimate location for a concert not in the best neighborhood. A good show was put on.

Colt Ford rocked it!! He never disappoints. Paramalee put on a good show as well. However, some of the time the music over-shadowed the vocals. Love the IP and will definitely return for additional shows.
The venue was very nice. Both bands were awesome. My only negative would be that Colt Ford did not play nearly long enough. The casino was very nice, and the room was great.
Not much to say, it was loud , fun , lots of drinks. An overall dam good time
