These talented and thoroughly prepared children and their dedicated conductors always mount a moving performance. The purity of their voices and the sincerity of their approach suit the seasonal music so well. The range of ages of the performers gives the audience a view of children growing up that makes the concert especially poignant. "Calling for the Light" had tough competition from old favorites, but invites further listening. The instrumentation complemented the voices beautifully.
1st time at this event. Music was good. The words from a good part of it were not understandable. They could have been singing "la-la-la". The stage activity with the music was very good. We came specifically to see a little one in the prep group. They were buried in the 3rd row, apparently the children were double stacked in that row. It seems that when you are depending on friends and family, another row could have been added to the stand to allow visibility of all the children. The Transitions last number was exceptional.
The first half was a bit slow, didn't "stir" me up too much, but the second half was MAJESTIC!!! It was simply wonderful and was worth every penny I paid to see it. I would give it four stars and will definetly go to the next one.
The children were phenomenal in that all of their music was memorized and their intonation and diction were clear and crisp. Most importantly, they were having fun! They sang and danced their way through beautiful seasonal music and brought great joy to the audience. There were fun musical instruments in the orchestra including a Swedish nyckelharpa, a toy piano, a viola da gamba and an accordian! How delightful! Deborah Schmit-Lobis's composition, Ringa in Ljuset was some of the most beautiful solstice music that we've heard and the children sang it wonderfully. We would love to hear more from this talented composer!
The show was a wonderful treat for the Christmas season and the children's voices are amazing. We loved everything about it and were entranced with the entire show. What wonderful talent!! Thanks so much!!!
All the choirs were just wonderful. It was amazing watching as the choirs got older and more experienced. They all had perfect moments that just touched your heart and warmed your soul.
What an amazing evening of young voices. From the tour choir to the very young members of the prep choir - a night of Christmas cheer. What a great way to start the Christmas season.
Disclaimer: I am one proud father who delights at listening to his daughter perform. Naturally I had the time of my life relaxing in a sumptuous auditorium while soaking up the enthusiastic sounds of hundreds of talented children! I do wish that the program was more diversified: heavy-handed christian Christmas songs, despite being written primarily by Jewish composers, get tiresome, no matter how joyous and talented the young performers. Really. In this day and age we should all share in the stunning array of powerful and moving music from the many cultures of the world that have found a home in America. Please, please, please CCC: Diversify your repertoire, at least to represent the diversity of your performers, and so as not to alienate the (high ticket price) paying audience!
Very good. Glad to have been there with the grandkids. Great Christmas event.
The annual kickoff to the holiday season in Denver was better than ever this year.
I was totally amazed by the professionalism and beauty of the performance. It was amazing and am so excited that my family is a part of this tremendous chorale. The conductors were great and the kids were off the charts.
The Colorado Children's Chorale was amazing! All 400 kids were professional performers. The concert was constantly surprising in musical style and dance! Put me in the spirit of the season!
The Colorado Children's Chorale is amazing! Those kids can sing their hearts out and it sounds so beautiful. I would recommend to anyone! :-)
This event truly represents the holidays for our family. It is the way we get in the mood and rejoice. The purity of the voices and the cheer on the faces. It is absolutely magical!
The kids work hard preparing for this show, and they did an awesome job in their performance! It's fun to have the chance to sing along for some of the traditional Christmas songs, but it's even better to see the kids singing and dancing to songs that are less well-known. Kudos to everyone involved!!
