Nutcracker is wonderful for kids of all ages!

by PaytonsMom on 11/29/09Ellie Caulkins Opera House - Denver

I took my daughter who is 5 hoping she would be able to sit through and enjoy the show as she loves ballet. She could not take her eyes off the entire time! The dancers were wonderful and the costumes, sets and special effects were amazing. Thank you!

    Nutcracker ballet

by Anonymous on 11/29/09Ellie Caulkins Opera House - Denver

A family friend with whom we attended this event said it surpassed the ballet he saw in St. Petersberg, Russia. The event was nearly perfect, not to be missed.

    Nutcracker opens great

by purpleshimmer on 11/29/09Ellie Caulkins Opera House - Denver

Nutcracker opened on a good note. The scenery in the first act was absolutely amazing! Costumes and backdrops complemented the dance. However, in act II, the scenery was very distracting and was not congruent with act I. The colors of the backdrops conflicted with costumes and distracted from the dance. Dancing was well done and enjoyable, as was the music.

    Nutcracker is "Suite!"

by EthelBasset on 11/29/09Ellie Caulkins Opera House - Denver

A delightful holiday experience, as always. Nutcracker is the perfect family outing. This year's production - on opening night - was well-performed, without flaws, and magical.

    Wonderful Nutcracker!

by LennyF on 11/29/09Ellie Caulkins Opera House - Denver

Of all the Nutcrackers I've seen, this may turn out to be the most memorable, for all of the right reasons. The dancing was superb, from the youngest to the most experienced. The staging was simple, elegant, and absolutely all that was needed. The orchestra was not perfect for every note, but was damn near perfect for damn near every note! We love the Opera House as a venue, and it really works well for ballet. The shiny floor was really fun! Lenny & Debi

It was good, orchestral music could be a little louder?

I have seen several different companies perform the Nutcracker and thought this performance was good and with lots of energy. We were distracted by the family in front of us checking/texting on their cell phones and eating candy with crinkly wrappers. Wish the ushers would have caught that prior to the show.

The Official Start of Christmas Season

by TheAirdog on 11/29/09Ellie Caulkins Opera House - Denver

Each year for me, the official start of the Holiday Season is when I see The Nutcracker. Until then, it somehow isn't real yet. The party at the Stahlbaum's, the Land of Snow and the dancing Snowflakes. Every year I see it, I think "WOW! It's Christmas time". This year's performance of The Nutcracker lives up to every expectation raised by past year's events. Take the whole family!

    Surprisingly Funny

by Axebox on 11/24/09Ellie Caulkins Opera House - Denver

I was impressed with the level of skill and the excellent execution of this play. What was surprising was the level of humor in this piece, it was very entertaining. It was sad that I was unable to take any pictures due to the no camera policy at Ellie Caulkins., as I've already forgotten what the artists looking like.

    Dissapointed

by Zooe on 10/28/09Ellie Caulkins Opera House - Denver

I have neve submitted a review for anything, but I have to let the Elli Caulkins Opera House how disappointed I was with the performance of Don Quixote. I should have know when the tickets were so cheap. I attended the Fri 10/23 show. The dancers were out of sinc, the primadonna was not on que with the music, costumes were cheezy... It will be awhile before I trust a show at the Opera house. Denver needs better cultural performances if they want to staty alive. It's a real shame because it is a beautiful facility and so much fun to go to the ballet! The one great bright spot was that everyone was turned out in their best to see the ballet.

    Amazing

by highlyrecommended on 10/27/09Ellie Caulkins Opera House - Denver

I really enjoyed the level of talent displayed at this particulair ballet, and find it so very true when the program states, "you do not need to go to NY or LA to find talented artists, they are right here in Denver."

Slow-ish start but crescendo's to a great finale.

by BitskeB on 10/27/09Ellie Caulkins Opera House - Denver

Don Quixote seemed to have a lethargic start, but it crescendoed to a great finale.

Absolutely beautiful. We were so happy we were there on the day Kitri and Igor danced. We loved them in Swan Lake also.
