About

Collective Soul rose to prominence in the mid-’90s with 1993’s Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid. The album featured the hit single “Shine” and took Collective Soul from college radio to heavy rotation on MTV. By the end of 1995, the band (led by singer-songwriter Ed Roland) had toured with Aerosmith and Van Halen and performed “Shine” in front of thousands of fans at Woodstock ‘94. Their triple-platinum follow-up, Collective Soul (1995), included "December," "The World I Know" and "Where the River Flows," all No. 1 songs on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. Collective Soul would continue achieving career milestones well into the 2000s and 2010s, including a duet with Elton John (“Perfect Day”) and nine additional studio albums.

  • collective soul very good

    by concertgoer1 on 7/13/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

although there was considerable rain in columbus ohio the day of the show, by evening the skies had cleared and it was very comfortable. the concert started when the alternate routes played a short set but they were very entertaining and hopefully will return for a longer set in the future. gavin degraw was great as the opener. then collective soul came on and were excellent, playing nearly all of their famous songs from the 90's and a few off a new release. overall a great triple bill.

  • Collective Soul delivers AGAIN!!

by Arafel on 7/13/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and I have seen CS 7 times now (and our kids have seen them 4 times) so we're always looking forward to a night of good music. We weren't disappointed. Can't wait for the new album/cd to be released next month! The Alternate Routes (opening the show) was a great new find for us! Such lively enthusiasm and great music too! They're gonna go far! We're not really big Gavin fans, but that portion of the show was good too. He's got a good rapport with the audience and a good sound as well.

  • Totally Awesome!

by gronk on 7/13/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Loved the show! Gavin DeGraw was ok, but the real show was Collective Soul. They are real rockers with heart and soul who love their music. I wish I could go back in time to see the show again.

  • Collective Soul rocked the house!

    by munterbrink05 on 7/13/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Collective Soul was the band I went to see. The other stuff (openers: Alternate Routes and Gavin DeGraw) were just "fluff." Granted, it was nice to be exposed to a new band (Alternate Routes) and I really enjoyed them. This is one of my favorite ways to learn about new bands. And I'm pretty familiar with Gavin DeGraw, but I by no means HAD to see him. He did a good job. Collective Soul was where it was at! The concert finally turned into a rock concert when they took the stage. Great performers with a little old school vibe. Heck, they've been around for more than half my life! Good times. And it was even better b/c I saw the show for half price through a limited time buy one get one free offer! Sweet!!!

  • Still Rockin'

    by STPfan87 on 7/13/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 4 out of 5

Collective Soul hasn't lost any steam in their many years of stardom. It was great to hear all of the classics as well as some promising tunes to promote the new album. Gavin was also a great act to accompany CS...it definitely boosted my interest in his work. The LC was also a great outdoor experience...any spot in the place gives you a nice view of the stage. Definitely recommend seeing these two acts!

Great show, the band had a excellant performance the crowd was great. This is the first time I ve seen them in concert and it was a great concert. I would recommand this show to anyone even those people that aren't really big fans they would still love the show. Collective Soul ROCKED!

  • Collective Soul is just amazing!!!!

by crowdedhead on 7/13/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best concerts I've attended. Simply great.

  • Why was Gavin not the headliner?

    by TJLMFT2BE on 7/13/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

FIrst of all, I couldn't find anyone at the show who could name one song by Collective Soul. I believe nearly everyone was there to see Gavin. If you're a Gavin fan, you won't be let down. Many people left once he was done, and most found it odd that he opened for Collective Soul. Isn't he a much bigger name than they?

  • Collective Soul and Gavin DeGraw

One of the best concerts ever!!! I have seen Gavin every time he's in Columbus and Collective Soul was a great bonus........

Great concert! The bands were great, i am a huge Collective Soul The venue was pretty cool too, we sat on a back wall and had perfect seating! One of the best concerts of my life!!! :)

  • Great combo show

by Bubbabunt on 7/12/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 4 out of 5

Gavin DeGraw warmed the crowd up and Collective Soul never let it stop. Great show.

  • Collective Soul Rocks!

by burkyjim on 7/12/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Simpley stated - Collective Soul is a band that never lets you down. They bring it from start to finish. With so many hits, it was just an awesome show to see. No offense, but Gavin DeGraw was a little too cocky for his own good. His attitude really made it hard to watch his portion of the show. But with Collective Soul closing the show, all ended well. I enjoyed the fact that CS played some new songs as well as mixing in their hits. If they come to your town - don't miss the show!

  • Great great concert!

  • Collective Soul knows how to ROCK

    by Megs12345 on 7/12/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Gavin Degraw did a good show, it was worth watching, however it was nothing compared to Collective Soul. It was obvious that they had been performing for a long time and with so many big hits to choose from they were amazing, probably the best concert I have seen yet. I would definitely recommend going, it was worth the money and more.

  • Collective Soul unique and awesome

by LilKahunna on 7/12/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

They keep piling on the hits! They play with an energy, soul and creativity that very few groups can match.

  • Gavin Degraw and Collective Soul great combinatiom

    by ameadow76 on 7/12/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 4 out of 5

Both performers played a very nice combination of music. they are very different Styles of music but went well together. Most of the energy in Collective Soul seems to come from their vocalist but they did not seem to miss a beat. Would recommend as above Average. Enjoyed the show.

  • Collective Soul rocks.

by Robadabadoo on 7/12/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 4 out of 5

Awesome show. Not a Gavin DeGraw fan. Collective Soul should have been the main Headliner, not a shared headliner with Gavin.

  • DeGraw and Collective Soul put on a great show!

by chakbakala on 7/12/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Gavin DeGraw was witty and introspective in his singing and showmanship, while Collective Soul got the place rocking, jumping, and excited. It was a show that I'll never forget.
