About

Collective Soul rose to prominence in the mid-’90s with 1993’s Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid. The album featured the hit single “Shine” and took Collective Soul from college radio to heavy rotation on MTV. By the end of 1995, the band (led by singer-songwriter Ed Roland) had toured with Aerosmith and Van Halen and performed “Shine” in front of thousands of fans at Woodstock ‘94. Their triple-platinum follow-up, Collective Soul (1995), included "December," "The World I Know" and "Where the River Flows," all No. 1 songs on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. Collective Soul would continue achieving career milestones well into the 2000s and 2010s, including a duet with Elton John (“Perfect Day”) and nine additional studio albums.

  • Gavin DeGraw was amazing!

by JennPenn on 7/15/09House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen Gavin DeGraw before(HOB, XL106.7 Christmas Concert), and absolutely fell even more in love with his music. He is fantastically talented, and puts on an incredible show. I will see him again!!

  • Collective Soul with Gavin DeGraw

by clarkfleenor on 7/15/09House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

We are huge CS fans and loved their show as always. Ed had a cold and his voice was not the best but his energy was amazing for not feeling well. The only reason this is not a five star is we don't understand the pairing with Gavin DeGraw. Their music is very different, and the CS fans we spoke to were bored during his show, as were we. Green River Ordinance was a good warmup band, but three bands makes for a really long night, especially standing at a general admission show. We'd prefer to see Collective Soul alone with a longer show. We hope to see Collective Soul in Tampa or Orlando again soon and are looking forward to the new CD.

  • Both put on performances that were amazing

by Katersbonneville on 7/15/09House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Both gavin DeGraw and Collective Soul played nice full sets with a great deal of energy. I went for Collective Soul and was not disappointed. One of the best shows I have ever seen!

  • Worth Every Penny!

by AmfNeh on 7/15/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was by far the best I have ever seen. I have been to several concerts over the years, and Collective Soul beat all of them by a landslide. Every song was just as amazing (and in some cases, even better) than the album version. Ed is extraordinarily talented, and each band member is amazing. We have tickets to see them again already. Gavin DeGraw was really good, too - just a little long. We wanted more Collective Soul! The band that started the concert - Alternate Roots - was very good as well. Overall, it was a great night of music! Rock on, Collective Soul!

  • HOB was so rude!

by beanpie on 7/15/09House of Blues Myrtle Beach - Myrtle BeachRating: 4 out of 5

Beside HOB making the fans stand out in the pouring rain before the show and didnt allow pictures to be taken. GRO was awsome, Gavin DeGraw was awsome, and Collective soul was great as well. The crowd suck! they just stood there like they never been to a concert or something, There was like only a few people that we actually having a good time. other than that Gavin was Great!

  • Collective Soul rocked the House!!! of Blues...

by KCBRN53 on 7/15/09House of Blues Myrtle Beach - Myrtle BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Collective Soul completely ROCKED the house! Even though Ed had a sour throat, he brought his A game energy to the House of Blues. They played all the great hits you wanted to hear and included some new as well. I wished they would have played longer because I could have listened to them all night long! I definitely look forward to their new CD and will plan to attend another concert soon. Keep on rockin' Ed and "soul"mates.

  • Green River Ordinance and Gavin DeGraw were FAB!

by saelbo on 7/14/09House of Blues Myrtle Beach - Myrtle BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Green River Ordinance and Gavin DeGraw were FAB! Didn't stay for Collective Soul... didn't really want to see them :D

  • Collective Soul

by NobodySpecial on 7/14/09House of Blues Myrtle Beach - Myrtle BeachRating: 5 out of 5

This was my third time seeing Collective Soul, and it was the second time at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach. That was an awesome concert- Collective Soul rocked the house. I don't know a lot of Gavin Degraw's songs, but he put on a good show, too. The opening band, Green River Ordinance, did a good job.

  • Best show ever!

by jtillma8 on 7/14/09House of Blues Myrtle Beach - Myrtle BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Collective Soul played an amazing show! They are the absolute most energetic, entertaining group I have seen in a long time. I want to see them again ASAP!

  • Gavin DeGraw was incredible.

by ccouncil on 7/14/09House of Blues Myrtle Beach - Myrtle BeachRating: 4 out of 5

Although unexpected, I think this show was worth attending not for Collective Soul's performance, but for Gavin DeGraw alone. He was so much better live and in person! He really built up his songs and his voice sounded incredibly, honestly I was deeply impressed by him. Collective Soul on the other hand was good, but probably better on cd than live because of the lead singers voice, or lack thereof.

  • Collective Soul - HOB 7/13

by CRS36 on 7/14/09House of Blues Myrtle Beach - Myrtle BeachRating: 4 out of 5

The sound was not as good. I don't know if it was the sound guy or the equipment - but that was dissapointing. These fellows never let you down no matter what though. The showmanship is always great, the set list balanced with their hits, addition of new songs, and great energy.

  • Amazing!!!!!!

by macka on 7/14/09House of Blues Myrtle Beach - Myrtle BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Collective Soul was beyond great!! The opportunity to have them so close was incomparable! And affordable tickets. The texas group was pretty good too! The only thing that was not perfect was the stuff. They were not very nice or friendly. Everyone was excited and happy, except the people collecting the tickets and bouncers. And how come at the end of this page there is a section asking to share a pic when we were not allowed to have cameras??

  • C'Soul Total Magic, Degraw Kinda Tragic

by Landshark7 on 7/14/09House of Blues Myrtle Beach - Myrtle BeachRating: 5 out of 5

C'Soul rocked unbelievably. Well played set, great lights, 1st rate in every way. Ed said his voice was shot, but you couldn't tell. Just flat out fantastic from srart to finish. No obvious bathroom breaks. Gavin Degraw rocked his hits. The groove was right on. BUT... he talks too much, paced his show with 2 strong songs up front and 2 at the end. The middle was a 40 minute borefest punctuated with senseless noodling solos and "I'm too cute" audience posturing. Clearly his on stage sound was a disaster because he tugged at this ears more than Carol Burnett. His bands musicianship was fine, but the house sound was distorted.

  • Gavin Degraw was awesome

by Doodle6812 on 7/14/09House of Blues Myrtle Beach - Myrtle BeachRating: 5 out of 5

This was an amazing show by a very talented performer. I would definitely go to see him again - especially at the House of Blues. He totally fit that venue.

  • Gavin was amazing & Collective Soul rocked!

by meesh40 on 7/14/09House of Blues Myrtle Beach - Myrtle BeachRating: 5 out of 5

This was such an incredible show. Got to meet Gavin--he was so gracious, humble & cute! I would see this show again & again if I could. House of Blues was an excellent venue. We had a great view, the lines at the bar & bathrooms were short and parking was a breeze.

  • Collective Soul Superb

by Chuckster on 7/14/09House of Blues Myrtle Beach - Myrtle BeachRating: 4 out of 5

Gavin DeGraw impressed with his crowd pleasing music. His jazz/funk infused melodies were quite catchy. Collective Soul played many many songs I know well. They even played two of their new songs. Just awesome!!!

  • Do you feel it?!

by Tammygirl on 7/14/09House of Blues Myrtle Beach - Myrtle BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Gavin Degraw has so much soul and I felt his music like no other musician I have ever heard! And it was refreshing that Ed from Collective Soul had so much energy! The sound was great for both bands and I liked the way both bands worked with the audience and how they treated the other band members with appreciation and respect. I definately will be making some new music purchases in the near future and I look forward to seeing both bands in concert!

  • Gavin and Collective Soul did their thing!

by bodynamics on 7/14/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

I really enjoyed watching Gavin and Collective Soul perform. I hope that after Gavins' performance people will give him a chance and the respect that he deserves as an musician. Watching Collective Soul perform for the first time was amazing. I am a young African-American female and was the only one there and I must say the show was amazing. If you are a true music lover you must open your mind to and ears to other cultural music. Everybody may not like rock but I know I'm not the only black woman who does. Start showing your support for these artist, they are our gifts to us musically.

  • Collective Soul better than ever!!
