    Zombies and Strawbs

    by LeeRN123 on 9/19/11Keswick Theatre - Glenside

The concert was amazing. The Strawbs were all I expected. The Zombies did all their hits and some new songs. They did the Argent hits also. I thought this was a great experience and brought back memories.

    Strawbs/Zombies, Keswick Theater 9/16/2011

    by brobri55 on 9/19/11Keswick Theatre - Glenside

David Cousins may be 66 but that beautiful raspy baritone sounds as rich as it did when he was 30 (even then he sounded like an old man). The Strawbs were amazingly good Saturday night. I saw them twice in the early part of the last decade with Brian Willoughby instead of the current Chaz Cronk. Both were great to see and hear but with Chaz they have a third vocal which truly enlarges and rounds their sound. The vocals were all very solid and the song choices excellent. Five stars for the Strawbs. The Zombies… well for one thing the sound mix was bad, which is very unusual for the Keswick. High frequencies were painfully shrill and bass feedback just ate up much of the middle. Colin’s vocals were sometimes impressive… and sometimes way off the mark. Argent was his usual competent and entertaining self. They had some great moments, (Colin pulled off "A Rose for Emily" very well, and that is very difficult song to sing) but mostly were a disappointment to me. Two stars for the Zombies

    bad seats. Great Zombies show.

    by Cobie3 on 9/19/11Keswick Theatre - Glenside

The sound system during the openingshow of the Acoustic Strawbs was set up badly. The sound was too sharp and loud. And we did not like the band anyways. Although the seats in Keswick are not comfortable, especially if you are a tall person, we found that the discomfort went away immediately when THE ZOMBIES show started. I was blown away by the voice and charisma of Colin Blunstone. Rod Argent was also great to see live and I was impressed by all the musicians. The show was great, there was enough talk in between the songs from Colin and Rod to the audience with great information. In short the show, sound and buzz was fantastic. I believe they did 21 songs including the encore; we had a great time. Highly recommend the Zombies!!!!
