I think Coachella is almost at the point of not worth going to because it has become a commercialized event that has sold out to making profit over promoting independent bands. It's expensive, you have to go all three days now, and you have to pay extra for everything. Asides from all that, a subset of the bands which played were amazing, though I think it might be worth my time and money to go see them at their individual concerts or perhaps at other music festivals (SXSW, Bonaroo, Outside Lands, etc.).
It was amazing, incredible. Coachella was a life changing event. I wanna go every year.
Loved the show this year! I've been to the last 6 and this one was my favorite!
The event overall was great! Had the best time of my life! But, I suggest for the staff directing camping traffic to know more about where to direct cars. Our caravan had to turn around three times due to wrong directions from both police and personnel that were directing traffic. I am still a little iffy about the wristbands; the yellow piece becomes detached a little easier than I thought and i was afraid that I wasn't going to be let into the venue because it looked like my wristband was tampered with, when it wasn't. But I loved the line-up, food, amenities, and art installations. Very good job with the organization of the event =) Coachella's partnership with The Creator's Project was AMAZING!!
This was hands down the best event of any kind I have ever been to in my entire life. It was life changing.
Amazing experience. Totally worth every penny. Definitely going back next year... In hopes of an even better Line-up.
All I have to say is that Coachella is the most amazing music experience anyone could ever ask for!
This was my tenth Coachella Valley Music fest, and it was one of the better ones that I attended. The performance quality of the acts this year was great, and the sound was tremendous. I liked the visual enhancements with the lights and video projections, albeit there were some technical difficulties. There were many logistic improvements from last year, which brought back the Coachella friendly vibe despite the large crowds. The RFID-wristbands and the expanded festival ground space were huge improvements. My favorite performances over the weekend: Arcade Fire Big Audio Dynamite The Strokes PJ Harvey Cut // Copy Chemical Brothers Trentmoller Also enjoyed Broken Social Scene, CSS, New Pornogrphers, The National, Jimmy Eat World, Cold War Kids, YACHT, The Kills, and NAS w/ Damian Marley.
it's an experience. i came all the way from new york (i know people came from further away, but still!) there definitely is something for everyone. some of the crowd wasn't the friendliest... i kind of laughed at someone's complaint that the VIP didn't do enough for them because they felt like they were "just part of the crowd" which i thought was a pretty great part about going to a music festival. the crowd. the community of music-lovers. ah, the days of woodstock are far far behind us. i was born in the wrong era. also yeah, it's a lot of walking to and from shuttles or parking but it's so worth it so wear your Toms and buck up.
Wonderful music, way too hot. Figures the next day was 20 degrees cooler. More large shade structures. Admired commitment to being on time for your set (take that, Cee Lo). Crowd control was pretty impressive, and pleasant.
the whole experience was absolutely amazing! as soon as we left, i wished that I could go back in time to enjoy the whole experience again!!! the rural alberta exchange, angus and julia stone, arcade fire, mumford and sons, erykah badu, the joy formidable, two door cinema club, the radio dept., and freelance whales were the best soundwise animal collective was beautiful visually but disappointing musically
So glad, Coachella has moved up the date to early April, because I had been several years ago, and almost died due to the extreme heat. Yeah it was hot, but it wasnt Africa hot!!! Great line up this year, mixed with the greatest people watching event you will ever see.
Awesome! Definitely going again next year and telling everyone I know
The weekend was incredible. We talked about it the whole way home Sunday night. I thought the mix of bands was terrific and the additional security to get into the venue was welcomed. The full moon coming up over the horizon behind the ferris wheel was beautiful. Job well.done and we will of course be back!!
Life changing event for me. Really difficult to put into words. Good luck ever seeing a better lineup.
Mind blasting. It changed my life two years in a row. I will go for the rest of my life.
I have attended Coachella Music & Arts Festival for 5 years, and this year is by far the most organized, most enjoyable one ever! So much room, so easy to get in and get out, the new shuttles to and from Palm Springs, and the 3-day high-security wristbands made the experience care-free. The music was as awesome and diverse as ever. My personal 5 favorites were Lauryn Hill, Eryka Badu, Duran Duran, The Twelves, and Robyn. So much talent to see and so little time. Thank you, Golden Voice, for all the great changes. I am looking forward to 2012 already. If anyone is reading this - buy tickets early! Use layaway if it is available. Coachella! Hella!
Though the line-up wasn't as strong as in 2010, I still had as good a time this year thanks to the far tighter security, better traffic control, and far fewer gatecrashers. It was much easier to get from stage to stage and also to work my way up to the front rows. The only remaining thing the festival needs to address is MORE SHADE and MORE COOLING. They should do this by installing more pavilions with seating and those large, portable industrial cooling fans that can be rented during the summer months. People were still nearly passing out from heat exhaustion.
Weather was great, party favors were plentiful, raver kids were out in force. The art installations were amazing. My first time going. I will be back every year :)
