About

Maryland-bred rockers Clutch have been a  hot ticket on the tour circuit and a mainstay on the rock radio airwaves for well over a decade. That streak continued in 2013 with the release of a well-received new album titled Earth Rocker, which topped Billboard's Top Hard Rock Albums chart, and plenty of concert dates, stopping at the likes of The Depot (Salt Lake City) and other world-class venues. The group's consistency even extends to its lineup, which features three members -- Neil Fallon (vocals, keyboards), Tim Sult (lead guitar), Dan Maines (bass), and Jean-Paul Gaster (drums) -- who have been in the group since it formed in 1991.

Clutch released their debut album, 1993's Transnation Speedway League, after landing a deal with EastWest Records, largely thanks to their reputation as a strong concert act. The band's growing fan base and the success of their self-titled 1995 sophomore release lead to a short-lived major-label deal with Columbia. Clutch's 2009 and 2013 albums, their ninth and 10th, were released on the group's own Weathermaker label.

  • BEST Clutch show ever!

by FrontRowRachel on 7/15/09House of Blues Dallas - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

This is probably the 5th Clutch show I've attended and by far - the most fun I've ever had at one. The sound rang through my ears just as it should. Everyone around me was feeling the good groove. I was close enough for my abnoxious screams of support to be heard by the bands - enough to even get a response! I don't recall the name of the first band to go on stage but they were rockin' it up! The second band, Lion Ice (?), was this absolutely amazing rock / funk / reggae act that impressed me to the point of an album purchase. Clutch came out and blew our hair back as I held on for dear life to the front stage baracade getting squished by the sea of rock induced chaos behind me. I loved every minute of it.

  • Clutch will rock your face off!

by JFitz on 7/15/09Pops - SaugetRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was by far the greatest I have seen to date! It was my first time seeing Clutch and it was better than I imagined! I truly enjoyed how they played older songs as well as newer ones; not just focusing on one or the other. The prices at the venue were reasonable, and the merchandise was kick ass! I enjoyed the overall environment and enthusiasm that could be felt by the crowd. Even the opening bands were amazing! Clutch has an unmatchable energy that gets the audience pumped (at least I was!). Incredible show, absolutely incredible! A must see for anyone who likes to rock!

Clutch is always great but especially great on the 12th of July. The mood was good, the music was great, and the first opening band was fantastic and ecelectic. Great show guys, but Pops need to turn on the air conditioning when Clutch takes the stage. It was friggin hot!

  • clutch the best live band ever no B.S.!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've seen Clutch many many times now, been following them since 1991. I have to say the show on July 12th at Pop's in sauget was by far the best performance they have ever done!

  • Clutch Rocks

    by Tate62471 on 7/13/09Pops - SaugetRating: 5 out of 5

Went and seen Clutch at Pops and the show was awesome. First opening act was also very good second opening act had good music but was lyrically and vocally awful, Good be a good band but need to invest in new singer and lyrics. Clutch was well worth the wait and would recommend that everyone should invest in their new cd, Strange Cousins From the West, coming out Tues, July 14, 2009. Awesome cd. Pops is a small and intimate setting with general admission and so everyseat is awesome, but it is hot once everyone gets moving around. Awesome show and an Awesome time. Clutch rocks.

  • Clutch is unstoppable

    by chrisliv18 on 7/13/09Pops - SaugetRating: 5 out of 5

As always, the almighty Clutch rocked the house for an hour and a half straight. They played 4 tracks off of their new album and played fan favorites from almost every album in their discography. Openers Lionize and Baroness also rocked which helped make this one of my top 3 favorite concerts.

  • Must See!!!

by Pigswine on 7/13/09Pops - SaugetRating: 5 out of 5

Fantastic show! One of the best live shows I have seen, I would recommend this band to anyone who enjoys any kind of rock. The energy the band gave off, coupled with audience feedback, was phenomenal! I guarantee that the next time Clutch rolls through St. Louis I will be there, along with everyone I can think of to convince to go as well!

  • Clutch

by Jeebus on 7/13/09The Blue Note - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

Great live show. Clutch's brand of bluesy hard rock was taken to a new level live. I recommend a Clutch Show to any fans of hard rock or heavy metal. They will earn your respect if they don't already have it! I didn't want the show to end.

  • Clutch Rocks

by DodgeSwinger on 7/12/09The Blue Note - ColumbiaRating: 4 out of 5

Clutch rocked as usual. I can't pinpoint what part sucked about the venue. Was it the opening act that was an acoustic one man show that slowed the pace, or the stupid "medic alert" in the middle of Maylene and the Sons of Destruction show that stopped music for the better part of an hour or the long wait before Clutch came on after that. But for some reason the crowd was there for the first half of the show. Then the people went to sleep. the poor manager was begging the crowd to make noise for an encore. Eventually the boys resumed for one song. Clearly they wen't enthused by the atmosphere either. Columbia owes Clutch an apology, because they rocked and put forth their best!

  • Clutch at Jake's Nightclub

by arla on 7/6/09House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 3 out of 5

Not nearly as good as their show last July at the HOB in AC. Still haven't fully embraced their latest album. however, still love'em to pieces!

  • Clutch gets better everytime.

by HevyKevy on 7/5/09House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

This was the 12th time I've seen Clutch live and they never fail to put on a great show. They are terrific musicians playing great songs. Neil Fallon brings a level of intensity to the stage that really enhances the whole bands performance. Being at a Clutch show is a lot like being at a party with your best friends. Everyone had a great time and can't wait to do it again. Clutch's performance was fantastic. They did a great job of mixing their classic songs with some new ones and kept everyone fully interested. Great show. The opening band was supposed to be Monster Magnet, which would have been great, but instead Shadow's Fall opened. Not exactly my style, but they were a good band. Lots of hair! Wino also played, but we missed their whole set.

  • Clutch in AC

by BlueLightSpecial on 7/5/09House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 4 out of 5

Great, they played some new stuff off their upcoming album. They also played some stuff off their early albums. They really got the crowd working and there was a steady mosh pit the whole night. I really liked that Shadows Fall opened for them even though most of the people there did not seem too enthused about shadows Fall.

  • Clutch rocked H.O.B.

by medelnuts on 7/5/09House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

Clutch brought it. New album is going to be amazing.

  • Clutch Kicks

by doghouse219 on 7/5/09House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 4 out of 5

Clutch is just a great live band. The guitarist and bassist are non-demostrative, the singer is very interactive and the drummer does the most with the least. Old songs and new songs, but few of my own personal favorites. 100011101 and Spacegrass would have made the show amazing.

  • THEE 1 and ONLY...CLUTCH...nuff said!!!

by ANDYCHOPS on 7/4/09House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

I followed these guys around for years. I don't remember how many times i seen them. Way to many to count, but i've been there from day 1.(91-92 Impetus )This last show at the HOB in AC was thee best show by far. Loved the new songs and the sound was the best sounding CLUTCH show by far. My boys and I were blown away by how tight and just how great the sound was. That's right still talking bout the sound...absolutly, without a doubt my best Clutch show EVER!!!

  • Great Show!!!!!

by tmcrockman on 7/4/09House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

This was an awesome show at an awesome venue. The show was at The House of Blues, that was connected to The Show Boat casino. The venue was beautiful the band sounded superb. They played some old stuff, some new stuff but the kickers were the Guitarists that came out to work along side these long time rockers. the first of the nite was long time Clutch right hand man "OOZIE" (he shreds along side TIM). then later they bring out the opening bands (Super Rockin) guitarist "Wino" in which they proceeded to tear up some older gems. This band has a stage aura and connectivity with the crowd you find in very few live acts. Hats off to some GREAT Maryland Rockers who know how to rock a crows A?? off when the ages of the fans are from 8 to 58, it was the most diverse crowd of rockers i may have ever seen (and check out clutch's merch booth).

  • Whose better than Clutch? Nobody!

by BettieBites on 7/4/09House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 4 out of 5

Clutch was amazing, as usual. The venue was beautiful, and well run. The staff was profesional and the stage show was run on time, down to the minute. Everything was expensive ($9 shots, $7 beers) but it's Atlantic City, so that is to be expected. It was just so darn far away from us NYC people.
