About

CLINT BLACK IN CONCERT:

Country superstar Clint Black knows a thing or two about penning a catchy tune – he's got more than 20 No. 1 singles under his belt, and his hit-filled live shows have the feel of a greatest hits tour. It makes him something of a maverick in a genre where many artists record music written by other songwriters. Black has spent the bulk of his career singing his own songs, and it's served him well. His penchant for witty puns and clever turns of phrase is on full display in concert – both in the lyrics of favorites like "A Better Man" and during his amusing between-song banter. With his warm baritone voice, killer harmonica playing, and catalog of clever-mouthed hits, Clint Black is a must-see for ticket buyers who like their classic country served straight-up.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Clint Patrick Black was born in New Jersey but raised in the Houston suburb of Katy, TX. He grew up playing music with his family, and by his teens he had serious chops on both the guitar and the harmonica. Black cut his teeth as a singer performing with his brothers in a family band, and he eventually dropped out of high school to play music full-time. He spent the bulk of the '80s working odd jobs while moonlighting as a country performer, and in 1989 he got his big break when RCA signed him and released his debut album Killin' Time. The record spawned five consecutive country No. 1s, making him a star overnight and earning him several Academy of Country Music Awards including Album of the Year and Top Male Vocalist. His chart run continued in the '90s with a string of Top 10 albums and chart-topping hits like "A Good Run of Bad Luck" and "Nothin' But the Taillights." Black parted ways with RCA in the early '00s and took a few years off to start a family, and in 2004 he returned with his eighth album Spend My Time, which he released on his own label Equity Music Group. Critics hailed the album as his most adventurous outing to-date, and Black has remained prolific ever since, consistently delivering both in the studio and on tour.

  • Clint Black was Great!

by Gramamy on 8/16/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Clint Black put on a great show!.He was very personable and played for about 1 1/2 hours. The venue, on the other hande, left alot to be desired. They sold alcoholic beverages and some people do not know how to conduct themselves in public when they are drinking. We had a young man next to us who was drunk, spilled his can of beer all over the floor in front of me and screamed out the entire night. We had a couple in front of us who stood and played kisdyface half the night which blocked our view. She was drunk. I finally was able to find a seat elsewhere so I could enjoy what was left of the concert. This went on during the opening act, as well. These type of people are detrimental to a performer. I would think twice before going to this venue again. Unfortunately, my husband stayed where he was.

When I ordered tix I never expected to be in the extreme top Left side behind the stage panel. Very disappointing since that was all that was offered. We really enjoyed other concerts at Township Auditorium in the past and were happy to drive from Charlotte. Additionally we enjoy downtown Columbia. It was not the greatest experience.

Been to many concerts and this one was one of the best!! Love Clint’s voice and his stage presence was fabulous! His interaction with the audience, his “down-homey” style, everything!! made this a truly awesome concert!!!

  • Seating

by Tommie on 8/15/23Rating: 3 out of 5

Seating was too close, also difficult to find our section, row and seats.

  • Keep the cowboys coming.

by Better Man on 8/15/23Rating: 5 out of 5

The concert was great! Judging from the response, excitement, and participation of the crowd it was evident the Clint Black concert was a huge success and enjoyed by everyone attending. Crowd did not want them to stop! Only downside of the evening is still the venue. With all the big names that come in, it would seem that a renovation is in order. Enlarge, angle/slant the floor so not so flat, better seating, get seats with armrests and not on top of the person next to you. (a heavy woman next to me was 2 to 3 inches over on my seat as well as her own.)

  • ONE OF THE BEST CONCERT OF MUSICIANS

by Suzanne on 8/15/23Rating: 5 out of 5

I've always loved Clint Black for many decades. What impressed me about the show was that his singing voice was great as always, and the band was without a doubt some of the most talented musicians and played in such sync that it was flawless. We've been to many top name entertainer's concerts in large and small venues....but this was the perfect venue for Clint Black's show. The production of the videos playing on the background screen for every song was so professionally selected and produced. We really enjoyed the evening!!!

  • Killing Time with Clint Black!

A great intimate concert setting for a guy who clearly loves to perform. Clint Black and his band exceeded my expectations and genuinely appreciated the crowd. Next time he rolls into town, I'm getting tickets!

  • Preston Duffee and Clint Black

by Pat on 8/15/23Rating: 5 out of 5

The opening Band Preston Duffee was awesome and so was Clint Black. We really enjoyed ourselves. Was plenty of room and we were close enough to be able to see the bands.

  • Near Flawless Performance

by stigohara on 8/14/23Rating: 5 out of 5

A near flawless performance… a super tight band.. exquisite vocals… every bit as good as when I saw him 20 years ago… Clint does NOT disappoint!

  • Clint black

by Reb on 8/14/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Wonderful. Clint black is an amazing performer. The acoustics of the township are amazing. The exploding amps of the opening act and the constant maintenance during the performance was distracting. But Clint black made up for that +++.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

by SEAWEAVER on 8/14/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Such a great concert and great time! Clint sounded amazing and was sooo good! Was worried he may have lost his pipes like some older artists sometimes do.. but no!! He sounded just as good Fri night as ever. Loved it! Also amazing band! Couldn't get enough of the fiddle and steel guitar. Not enough of that in country these days. So happy.. it exceeded all expectations! It was my birthday. So, thanks to Clint and the band for making it a wonderful, memorable one:). Will definitely see him again if we have the opportunity. Opening act, Preston Duffee, was also pleasant surprise. Great venue too. Not too big and not too small:).
