About

CLINT BLACK IN CONCERT:

Country superstar Clint Black knows a thing or two about penning a catchy tune – he's got more than 20 No. 1 singles under his belt, and his hit-filled live shows have the feel of a greatest hits tour. It makes him something of a maverick in a genre where many artists record music written by other songwriters. Black has spent the bulk of his career singing his own songs, and it's served him well. His penchant for witty puns and clever turns of phrase is on full display in concert – both in the lyrics of favorites like "A Better Man" and during his amusing between-song banter. With his warm baritone voice, killer harmonica playing, and catalog of clever-mouthed hits, Clint Black is a must-see for ticket buyers who like their classic country served straight-up.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Clint Patrick Black was born in New Jersey but raised in the Houston suburb of Katy, TX. He grew up playing music with his family, and by his teens he had serious chops on both the guitar and the harmonica. Black cut his teeth as a singer performing with his brothers in a family band, and he eventually dropped out of high school to play music full-time. He spent the bulk of the '80s working odd jobs while moonlighting as a country performer, and in 1989 he got his big break when RCA signed him and released his debut album Killin' Time. The record spawned five consecutive country No. 1s, making him a star overnight and earning him several Academy of Country Music Awards including Album of the Year and Top Male Vocalist. His chart run continued in the '90s with a string of Top 10 albums and chart-topping hits like "A Good Run of Bad Luck" and "Nothin' But the Taillights." Black parted ways with RCA in the early '00s and took a few years off to start a family, and in 2004 he returned with his eighth album Spend My Time, which he released on his own label Equity Music Group. Critics hailed the album as his most adventurous outing to-date, and Black has remained prolific ever since, consistently delivering both in the studio and on tour.

  • Excellent Concert

by Kel727872 on 5/1/24Gila River Resorts & Casinos - Wild Horse Pass - ChandlerRating: 5 out of 5

Clint Black is the best! I see him every year! He always starts right on time and goes non-stop for at least an hour and a half! He does the perfect amount of chatting here and there to brag about his band or explain a song. It really personalizes it! He is about the only artist that sounds exactly like the radio or better in person and the band is fantastic and sounded great!

  • Nice intimate venue

by Debra J on 4/29/24Gila River Resorts & Casinos - Wild Horse Pass - ChandlerRating: 5 out of 5

After being in huge stadiums it is nice to be in a smaller venue. Wish the 200 section had more of a sloped floor so everyone else's head wasn't in your way. Then when someone stands up you have to stand cuz you can't see. Ugh.

  • 35 years later still …./

  • Fantastic music! Viewing not so great

by wportbello on 4/29/24Gila River Resorts & Casinos - Wild Horse Pass - ChandlerRating: 5 out of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed the Clint Black concert. We were on the main floor, just right of center. The incline for seating as it neared the stage was less than desirable. Big men and tall people blocked the view of the stage resulting in having to constantly move your head back and forth. We finally left our seats and stood at the back for much better viewing. It is not an ideal venue. I would avoid it in the future.

  • this was a great experience!

This was one of the best concert experiences that my wife and I have has since we have lived in the valley, now for almost 40 years, the venue was excellent and clint was fantastic. We will come to more events at this venue again and again.

  • Amazing Show As Always.

by Rick on 4/29/24Gila River Resorts & Casinos - Wild Horse Pass - ChandlerRating: 4 out of 5

Clint is amazing and puts on a wonderful show! I am 6’2” and I had seats in the second section and we could barely see. I would not choose seats in the 200 level again. They are one level and if anyone taller than you or someone is wearing a hats it’s in front of you, then you are out of luck!

  • Great show !!

Fabulous show. Clint was very engaged with the crowd. Good acoustics.

  • Classic Country!

by Josie T on 4/29/24Gila River Resorts & Casinos - Wild Horse Pass - ChandlerRating: 5 out of 5

"Classic"doesn't mean old or out of date with Clint Black! His show was nonstop 90+ minutes of his hits and other country greats' songs. A smaller venue brings him up close and interacting with the audience. His sense of humor, banter and stories of how a song came to be, was a plus to the overall musical excellence from himself and the band. Clint's guitar and harmonica playing talents havent diminished in the 35 years since "Killing Time"came out. This is one of the best concerts I've been to..be sure to see and hear this country legend!

  • Great Show

by Cappy5481 on 4/29/24Gila River Resorts & Casinos - Wild Horse Pass - ChandlerRating: 5 out of 5

Clint played most of his hits and the band is really talented. Didn't know what a great guitarist Clint is. Surprisingly rowdy audience.

  • Clint Black - Wild Horse Pass

by Maggie on 4/29/24Gila River Resorts & Casinos - Wild Horse Pass - ChandlerRating: 1 out of 5

Tickets were expensive, but I love Clint, so didn’t think twice. However, seating at Wild Horse was horrible. We couldn’t find our seats as they were numbered incorrectly. We worked with others in the section to figure out the numbers. Seats weren’t arranged well, no height consideration. I was unable to see and it was very frustrating. I will not attend another concert at that venue. Tickets are not worth the cost.

by Stan on 3/28/24Brown County Music Center - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

I have always liked Clint's music. This is the first concert of his that I have attended. He did not disappoint as he was very entertaining, and he enjoyed himself onstage communicating with the audience. The harmonica and fiddle sounds were the icing on the cake. Great show!!!

  • Incredible!

by SCWalker on 3/27/24Brown County Music Center - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Clint Black sounds just as good in person as he does on the radio! The band was phenomenal and the stories he tells with his songs were a very special added touch. If given the chance, I would most definitely go see him again! A real, genuine class act.

  • Wonderful time and would do again!

by DSmith on 3/27/24Brown County Music Center - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Clint put on a great wholesome country concert in an intimate setting of the Brown County Music Center. He played some of his big hits from his first album and was very personable with the crowd.
