About

CLINT BLACK IN CONCERT:

Country superstar Clint Black knows a thing or two about penning a catchy tune – he's got more than 20 No. 1 singles under his belt, and his hit-filled live shows have the feel of a greatest hits tour. It makes him something of a maverick in a genre where many artists record music written by other songwriters. Black has spent the bulk of his career singing his own songs, and it's served him well. His penchant for witty puns and clever turns of phrase is on full display in concert – both in the lyrics of favorites like "A Better Man" and during his amusing between-song banter. With his warm baritone voice, killer harmonica playing, and catalog of clever-mouthed hits, Clint Black is a must-see for ticket buyers who like their classic country served straight-up.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Clint Patrick Black was born in New Jersey but raised in the Houston suburb of Katy, TX. He grew up playing music with his family, and by his teens he had serious chops on both the guitar and the harmonica. Black cut his teeth as a singer performing with his brothers in a family band, and he eventually dropped out of high school to play music full-time. He spent the bulk of the '80s working odd jobs while moonlighting as a country performer, and in 1989 he got his big break when RCA signed him and released his debut album Killin' Time. The record spawned five consecutive country No. 1s, making him a star overnight and earning him several Academy of Country Music Awards including Album of the Year and Top Male Vocalist. His chart run continued in the '90s with a string of Top 10 albums and chart-topping hits like "A Good Run of Bad Luck" and "Nothin' But the Taillights." Black parted ways with RCA in the early '00s and took a few years off to start a family, and in 2004 he returned with his eighth album Spend My Time, which he released on his own label Equity Music Group. Critics hailed the album as his most adventurous outing to-date, and Black has remained prolific ever since, consistently delivering both in the studio and on tour.

  • Walk down memory land with Clint Black.

by Vail on 8/30/10Les Schwab Amphitheater - BendRating: 4 out of 5

I enjoyed the show, and was pleased that the lead-in act was an up and coming artist. He also put on a really long and professional show for a first act.

  • Clint Back - Amazing and personal performance!

by Lektraglide on 8/30/10Les Schwab Amphitheater - BendRating: 5 out of 5

Clint Black performed in such a relaxed manner - more so as the concert progressed - and while watching him, it caused one to feel that he was presenting a personal performance to each fan. His band was excellent and his song writing partner, Hayden, was an incredible musician as well. The performance was an incredible experience and was so fitting in this smaller venue. I think if you were to observe his perfomance in a larger arena, a fan might lose this feeling of such a personal connection. Unfortunately, the down side was not from Clint Black or his band, but from my observation of how insensitive and obnoxious some so called "fans" can be, not only to the artist, but to those around them.

  • Clint Black is so very talented!

We saw Clint Black in concert in the early 90's and he is as good now as he was then. So often, you see a concert and think that the performer should have retired, but not so with Black. His voice is as clear as ever and his musicality is great. We enjoyed his talented band as well, and were impressed with Black's guitar, harmonica and drum abilities.

Truly a great evening, even if it was cold!!!!I would diffentally go again.

  • Clint Black rocked the drums in Bend OR

by RamdomConcertReviewer on 8/30/10Les Schwab Amphitheater - BendRating: 5 out of 5

We didn't know that Clint played the drums but during his encore performance after an already great show, he let his Sax player take the lead and he rocked it on the drums. He's amazing and wished he would have had time a drum solo. Ending his show with Desperado made the perfect ending to a perfect performance. Luke Bryan opened for Clint and was absolutely fantastic. I would pay to see him perform on his own. He also has an absolutely amazing voice. I personally don't think there is any more perfect venue then the Les Schwab Amphitheater. It's large enough to house a ton of people but small enough to make the show still feel intimate.

  • Clint & the band were awesome & personable

We loved every minute! Hope he comes back next year.

  • Clint and Sammy were a great pair.

    by Jabog33 on 8/27/10Snoqualmie Casino-Mountain View Plaza - SnoqualmieRating: 5 out of 5

They both play some oldies and some new tracks. Both are skilled at interacting with the audience. Sammy Kershaw brought a little Nawlins to the show by tossing Mardi Gras beads into the audience. Clint got personal and talked about his family life and experiences. All around great show.

  • Clint and Sammy show how it is done.

by Stilldoggy on 8/27/10Snoqualmie Casino-Mountain View Plaza - SnoqualmieRating: 5 out of 5

This was our first ever trip to Snoqualmie. We were very anxious as our first casino concert at the EQC Tacoma was an utter disappointment. Very ghetto. But upon our arrival we drove right past the stage and said wow! That is a small venue. Going inside we enjoyed a fine and very pricey dinner in their top tiered restaurant but was very very good. From there we went straight outside and was impressed with the professionalism of the staff and the cheap beer prices to boot! Sammy Kershaw rocked the house as the opening act. The outdoor setting was awesome. Temp in the high 60's so a jacket made everything comfortable. Concert goers were older and much more respectful than what we are used to. When Clint came on it was absolute greatness. Our seats were in the fourth row but I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. The sounds was spot on and Clint played incredible tunes to include a Willie song which if you closed your eyes you thought Willie was there. He played what I think were close to twenty songs covering the whole spectrum. Classics and new were mixed perfectly. Once the show was done, getting out was a breeze and now we have some great memories of two country superstars. Good news is we are back on Sun for ZZTOPP!!! Good job Snoqualimie!

  • Great Concert

    by 1wwwww222 on 8/24/10Coushatta Casino Resort - KinderRating: 5 out of 5

We really enjoyed the concert, however we had seats that were far from the stage, I wished they would have speakers & screens on the other end, so we could have really enjoyed watching the concert up close. The entertainers were both very good. Tracy Lawrence could have head lined. His songs were just as good as Clint Black's.

  • Tracy was excellent.... Clint not so much

    by firefighter2069 on 8/23/10Coushatta Casino Resort - KinderRating: 3 out of 5

Tracy was excellent. Wish he would of stayed on longer. He was very entertaining. Clint was not. I have always like Clint Black as long as he plays his pre married songs. As soon as he plays any song that was put out after he got married just puts me to sleep. We left about half way through Clint's performance. I wish Tracy L. would of closed the show.

  • Clint & Tracy were inspiring

    by max2bee on 8/23/10Coushatta Casino Resort - KinderRating: 4 out of 5

Tracy and Clint put on a very entertaining show. My wife and I really did enjoy the performance given by both men. However, we enjoyed Tracy's show and his abiity to connect with the crowd. He was OUTSTANDING. We enjoyed Clint's show but he was not able to really connect with the crowd. I was not disappointed but felt he did not give it his ALL.

  • Clint Black was a disappointment

by Anonymous on 8/23/10Coushatta Casino Resort - KinderRating: 1 out of 5

Tracy Lawrence was wonderful and his band was AWESOME!! Clint Black, however, was not. He was late and the songs he chose were not his own. His rendition of Willie Nelson was well done but not what we came to see. Half of the sold out crowd left the auditorium halfway through his performance.

  • TRACEY LAWRENCE SHOULD HAVE PERFORMED ALONE.

by Anonymous on 8/22/10Coushatta Casino Resort - KinderRating: 3 out of 5

I THOUGHT TRACEY LAWRENCE WAS OUTSTANDING. HE DID A GREAT JOB IN ENTERTAINING HIS CROWD WITH HIS GREAT MUSIC. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED IN CLINT BLACK HE WAS VERY BORING. THE CROWD BEGAN LEAVING BEFORE THE CONCERT WAS OVER. I BELIEVE IF THE LIGHTS WOULD HAVE BEEN TURNED ON MR. BLACK WOULD HAVE BEEN DISAPPOINTED HIMSELF. HE MAY HAVE SANG 5 GREAT HITS OUT OF HIS 50 # 1 HITS.

Tracy Lawernce put on a great show. Enjoyed how he worked the crowd and really entertained. As for Clint Black he was so boring that the crowd began leaving on his fourth song. by the time he was finish more than half the crowd left. The arena was ok just a lot of smoke. must have people smoke outside of the building and not in the comons area. the smoke entered the arena and was terrible.

The artists were great, but the sound in the facility wasn't good from the back where we were sitting.

  • Clint Black/ Tracy Lawrence concert

    by map1999 on 8/21/10Coushatta Casino Resort - KinderRating: 3 out of 5

Tracy Lawrence was the first on stage, he did a great job, and played some good music, some old and some new, His show is not a big production like some others, but he did a good job and kept the crowd into it; overall he was good and i would go see him again. Clint Black on the other hand was a bust! He didn't ever get the crowd into the show, and played a bunch of slow, low key songs; His show was terrible, i think he's over the hill now, he might do good playing concerts at nursing homes though! So in general we had an ok time, but were really disappointed in Clint, i hope he didn't come back on stage for an oncore, everybody was already gone! LOL Also, this venue is a poor location for a concert, it's best use is a rodeo arena, to have a decent seat you need to be in the front 1/3 rd of the stadium closest to the stage, Ticketmaster showed our seats as elevated but they were on the floor about a mile away from the stage. Best thing was they had a smoking area where you could still see and hear the show.

Enjoyed both performers. Had a great time! Would recommed this event

  • Clint should open instead of Tracy!!!

by GardenMS on 8/21/10Coushatta Casino Resort - KinderRating: 5 out of 5

For some reason unknown to me and many others, Tracy Lawrence was the opening act. Don't know how this was decided, but all I can say is that it was not a wise choice. After Tracy's high energy upbeat performance, the more mellow, laid back show that Clint put on was somewhat disappointing. His voice and stage presence were fine, but his song choices left something to be desired. Tracy on the other hand delivered all his best songs and two great new ones. Think both of these will be big hits for him. During his performance, I could feel Tracy feeding off the love and energy from the audience. I know Clint has a different style and it was somewhat appreciated, but was just a let down after Tracy's stellar performance. If Clint had opened, it would have built up to Tracy's act and there would have been no let down. Also the re-staging between shows really took way too long. That may have been part of the problem, as the crowd seemed to loose its energy during the long wait before Clint came on and never did get it back. But all in all, the concert was well worth the money spent. Just think Clint needs to come on first, and save the best for last. It was a sold out crowd, and I think most left very satisfied with the entertainment offered. Bottom line, I am a big fan of both, but between these two, Clint needs to open as Tracy is the better on-stage entertainer.

  • Awesome

The show was awesome! Two great entertainers performed as everyone expected.
